Terri . . . I have to chime in with everyone else in saying that you SO deserved to have some relaxation time on the cruise (and I certainly hope you did get some!!!) I, too, am just exhausted reading this!!!

Re: Two birthday girls, a boat and a mouse or two

Well, Terri, welcome to our less than efficient county gub'ment-but at least we got a trip update
On the DOWN side, your trip hasn't begun to get magical YET!
Could you feel even more like a red headed step child by the baggage CM??? (no offense meant to any carrot tops meant). I'd be totally stressed out about my stuff.
Please, please tell us the fun started sometime...

Re: Two birthday girls, a boat and a mouse or two

Evening Meeting lull break (the team big wigs are meeting - us workers are waiting).

Sept 27 - Monday - Part 2

MK in the morning....

Ok- so here we are on the monorail, headed toward MK at 10am on a Monday the day after a hurricane. After walking through the gates - we noticed the following:

1) no flags up

2) Cindy's "clothes line" was missing

As I notice other things - I will report them.

1st goal of the morning, take our pre-Jeanne photo to the photo shop and have them cut them to fit our new picture frames. With that accomplished - we each rented a locker under the train station and put our backpacks that were loaded with water, books, cruise documents, swim suits, etc in the locker. We stopped at City Hall to pick up a birthday pin for me, since it was my birthday after all.

After that - we walked up main street and headed for fantasyland. We joined Pooh and Tigger on a ride - even saw the photo of Owl and Mr. Toad. After Pooh - we headed to Peter Pan for another flight over London and then on to the Haunted Mansion -- here we noted that the canopy over the walkway was missing -- so you were looking up into the sunny sky - a little weird since I have never seen it this way.

We wanted to go on Jungle Cruise, but it appears that it was closed due to hurricane Jeanne damage (all the trees and such). Afterward - we headed to the Tiki Room. Cheryl had not been in there before - and we really enjoyed our show. Cheryl loved Iago and some of his comments.... After the "tiki tiki tiki tiki room" we headed to Pirates of the Caribbean for a small slice of the pirates life.

After POC - we were both hungry. Our quick and casual vouchers (provided by DCL) were burning a hole in our pockets and we starting thinking about where we wanted to eat. We both wanted to try "Pirate and the Parrott" (you expect me to remember how to spell the spanish name?? right), but it was closed and neither of us were in the mood for burgers -- so Pecos Bills was out. The QC vouchers limited us to counter service places (and I am not a major fan of counter service) -- but we ended up at the Columbia Harbor House. Cheryl had the Chicken walnut salad and I had the veggie chili with a side of carrots. Cheryl had diet coke and I had a bottle of water. The CM tried to give us dessert - but neither of us was really in the mood for dessert. One of the CMs noticed my pin and wished me happy birthday - which resulted in a bunch of CMs echoing her.

We decided we did not want to do the mountains, as we'd done them 2 days ago -- and I was not in the best of moods since I still did not know WHY we had been delayed and I was spending my first day of the cruise on a bus for 4 hours -- when I could have been more than half way to the ship.

It was approaching noon and I was not in the best mood. Cheryl and I decided to go back to the poly, find a plug to recharge the laptop battery (I had been showing Cheryl all my photos on the laptop in the dark last night) and charge the video camera battery since I had run it down alot recording the storm in the room.

On the way out of MK - as we were behind Cindy's castle, preparing to walk on the path to the right of the castle - a saxophone quartet dressed in mideval dress came out and marched toward me. They said they heard it was my birthday and that I was needing a slight pick me up - so they serenaded me with Happy Birthday on the saxophone, and then I "accompanied them" in a little "sax at the castle". I have no idea how they knew that I was in a grumpy mood - except for the look on my face..... but I was thankful for that little moment of magic.

Sax at the Castle

After our round of "sax" - we headed down to the ice cream shop to get Cheryl the kids ice cream cup, and I got a Mickey Bar. Then it was back on the monorail to head back to the Polynesian.

Next - 5 hours on a bus.... and is this how the people on the Titanic felt???

The pic is hilarious! And a Mickey bar couldn't hurt a grumpy mood either...

Re: Two birthday girls, a boat and a mouse or two

I've just caught up with your report and I'm so glad to see that installment ended on a high (saxophone? ) note. It's been awful reading it so far, sensing your frustration and annoyance at everything that was thrown at you.

Thanks for the reviews of Fresh, Tony's (both of which we're trying in December ) and Kimono's. It was really interesting to read about your experiences at each of them.

More please!

Oh Terri! I just finished reading everything up to this point. It's like an adventure movie. I hope and pray that you ended up with a wonderful vacation because you deserved it. If not, I'm going to start a collection fund to send you on a magical journey!

I can't wait for the next installment!

Looking back on it now as I write the TR - it DOES seem like an adventure movie!!! How funny how distance can improve the look of something! I promise to do another installment of the TR today - its a slow day at hurricane headquarters... environmental documents have been written - now we are waiting for the review to be finished -- so.... I will likely be able to get another report done, just have to get all the photos converted.
