| Re: Two birthday girls, a boat and a mouse or two Sept 28 - Part 3. Animator's Palate, hot tub and a sore throat We went back to the room after the Golden Mickeys - and found another towel animal (we had a swan the night before - but I was so tired I did not care...) Towel Elephant Since we were in workout clothes - we took showers and got ready for dinner. This is when I realized I had forgotten to pack my makeup - total space cadet on my behalf since I don't normally wear it during the day at work -- I just wear it when I dress up.... like at dinner on a cruise...We went down toward Animator's Palate and saw that they were taking official cruise photos - looked like you were standing on deck - at the same time the Captain and Deck officers were having a reception wit hors'derves. So Cheryl and I took photos with the officers and Captain John. With the ship's officers Terri and Captain John After the meet and greet and taking of photos (I bought mine later - if I can get near a scanner when I get home I will add it to this report), we headed to Animator's Palate for dinner. The Entrance of Animator's Palate Cheryl and I both started with the Avacado Seafood wrap, and I also had a bowl of Gespacho. Here is a photo of the seafood wrap. I was not that impressed with it - even though Christian had recommended it - and so far he had not gone wrong. I am a big time seafood lover - and this tasted like old, refrigerated shrimp salad. Cheryl said she was not impressed either. Glad I had the Gespacho to fall back on (although I seem to have forgotten to take a photo of it). Avacado Seafood Wrap Grilled Salmon For dinner - we both ordered the grilled salmon, red mashed potatoes and green beans. It was WONDERFUL. I joked with Christian that he recommended it since it was Chilian salmon and he is from Chile.... he smiled and said "of course - only the best!". For dessert I ordered the new york cheesecake (again on Christian's suggestion) with the strawberry, mango and lemon sauces. It was wonderful AGAIN!! Cheesecake Now remember -- Rita had said earlier today that she would remember my birthday tonight... and I'd just ordered and eaten the cheesecake.... and here come Rita, Christian and Adam with other servers behind them with a strawberry mousse topped cake with a white chocolate topper that says Happy Birthday!!! That make two. Rita had also gotten me a GOOFY Happy Birthday pin. Birthday girl Adam, Rita and Christian Animator's Palate is such an experience for the senses. If you don't know - the restaurant has a completely black and white theme at the beginning of your meals - even the plates are white with black edges (look at the shrimp and salmon photos). Your servers all wear black and white - walls, pictures, everything. As the meal progresses - the color begins to come from the palettes on the ceiling into the drawings that cover the walls of the room. Toward the end of the dinner - all of the CMs leave the room and the color compeltely comes into the walls. Then the CMs return wearing the same colors as the room..... It is a feast for the eyes and imagination - while the food is a feast for the nose and mouth. It was a wonderful evening. Feast for the Eyes We finished dinner around 10pm - and we were both bushed!! We went back to the room - and I noticed a scratchy feeling in my throat. I dismissed it as a day of excitement, AC air in the room, etc. Nothing to worry about. Next - A day at sea, Rainforest and a behind the scenes of the Wonder. |

It's bringing back so many great memories of our cruise and I love seeing all the photos. I'm glad you finally got on the ship and got some of the magic back, after all the problems with you first boarded. I'm just hoping the sore throat doesn't develop too much... |
