| Re: Steve and Sue take the Convertible to Disney.. Who: Steve, 46, and Sue, 44, 11th trip to WDW When: 9/30 till 10/10 Where: Old Key West/Hilton Head Why: We own the perfect Florida car now, so LET'S GO! Day 4... Yes..I am back to finish this long neglected trip report. I will be the first one to admit I am VVVEEERRRRYYYY bad at finishing, but I am determined to finish this one! So please, bear with me! ![]() Tuesday morning dawned hot and sunny. Hmm...do we see a pattern here? Today's agenda started with a wonderful breakfast at The Maya Grill at CSR. We had stayed here in 1998 and again in 2001, and we simply love this resort. We decided that a nice breakfast here would be a good thing! We pulled out the trusty convertible, the top went down and away we went! We got there for our PS, but it was not too crowded, and I think we would have done fine without a PS. The buffet had changed a little since last time. It seemed to have more traditional foods on it and less southwestern style foods. But it was still very good, lots and lots of fresh fruit and good coffee. We really loved the mugs that the coffee was served in, they said "Coronado Springs Resort" and "Maya Grill" on them. We asked if they were available in the gift shop, and our server said, no, but they sold them right there at the restaurant! We bought two, they were only $6 each, a bargain! After breakfast we walked around the resort for awhile and then it was off to SSR.Every trip, we always make time to meet with Joan, our DVC rep. First, she is a great person, second, she is responsible for alot of our Disney vacations (go Joan go Joan ) and third of all, she travels alot and always has these incredible photographs to show us. This trip, we knew she had more than a photograph to show us...she was babysitting her granddaughter for the week and would have her with her! We headed over to SSR and were immediately impressed by the size of the resort, even though much of it was still under construction. We went into the lobby and waited. What we didn't know was that Joan was actually off today and had come in just to meet with us! Now do you see why we love her? She came in with beautiful Olivia in tow. What a cutie! 8 months old, dark hair, dark eyes and an infectious smile! I had brought Olivia a stuffed bear and a T-shirt that had Bambi on it and said "Pocono Mountains PA". I figured she had lots of Florida stuff, she could have a little PA stuff too! Joan took us on a tour of SSR, another first, including the grand villa. O.....M.....G.... it is incredible. I don't know if I really like my family enough to invite them all to stay with me in the Grand Villa, but I can think of more than a few Passporter friends who would love to be there with us for a week or so! The place is incredible, from the eloquent bedrooms to the formal dining room to the towel horse in the bathroom. Wow! We left in a slight state of shock, and headed off to the ice cream parlor for free ice cream! After our snack, we said our goodbyes and headed over to MGM.We had PS at Prime Time, but we were really stuffed from breakfast, so we cancelled that, too. We certainly weren't going to lose weight this trip! MGM was extremely crowded for a Tuesday! I didn't really pay attention to Early Entry, this may have been an EE day, but I was sort of surprised at the crowds. We headed over to ToT and got a Fast Pass, and then waited for RnRC. We waited about 20 minutes, not long in the overall scheme of waiting, but alot longer than we expected on a Tuesday in October! Finally we were in the pre show, and soon we were on the ride. Hey, honey, the back car is available, wanna try it? "Sure" my unsuspecting DH says! Well...soon he was... He loves rides, but was not prepared for how rough the back car was. Upon rolling off, I heard him exclaim something like...."no...never in the back again..." Oh well, it was payback for Mission Space for me. We exited out into: RAIN! Where did that come from? We ran to a little covered kiosk, where I bought Steve a Coke to settle his stomach (This was all eerily familiar to my MS experience.) It was not quite FP time, so we hung out while the storm passed, and then went to see if Beauty and the Beast was playing. It was!!! We waited for the next show, which was in about 15 minutes and under cover. I absolutley adore this show, and it was no disappointment. When it was done, it was off to ToT. By now the crowds were much less (I'll tell you why in a moment...) so we rode once with our FP and got on again in about 10 minutes and rode again! We walked over towards TGMR. We got there, and...OH! this is where everyone went! We had almost an hour wait! We waited, because this is truly a favorite ride, and an MGM classic, but we were not happy! After the ride, we headed out to try to make WWTBAM, but we missed it! We have not done this yet..it is on our agenda for our next trip! We saw the new city street...pretty cool...and did get to see "Voyage of the Little Mermaid". After that, we were tired, so we headed back to our car and back to OKW.We took a nice nap, had more lemonade smoothies, and then, off to a nighttime adventure... Next...Bahama Breeze and the not-so-hot tub! |

And as for that grand villa idea, if you ever want a group of PassPorters to help fill it for you, then count us in! I loved the grand villa at Saratoga Springs - it was amazing. ![]() |

Who: Steve, 46, and Sue, 44, 11th trip to WDW When: 9/30 till 10/10 Where: Old Key West/Hilton Head Why: We own the perfect Florida car now, so LET'S GO! Day 4, Part 2.... My take on most of the events that happen in my life is that everything happens for a reason...even getting lost! You'll see... ![]() We decided to not eat on Disney property tonight, and to head out to one of our favorite off property sites, Bahama Breeze. This restaurant came highly recommended by Steve's old boss, and believe me, it's the only nice thing I can say about Steve's old boss. We ate here in 2001, and again in 2002, but haven't been there since. So it was time! Now, we are old, we are stressed, we have very few functioning brain cells left between us...do you think either one of us would have checked the location of this place before leaving OKW? No, that would have been far too simple. Off we drive, heading north on I4 (this actually was correct). But, we drove past the exit because neither of us could remember what exit is was! :insert "duh" smiley here: We drove for awhile, and we both realized it was not that far away, so we turned around and headed back south on I4 (I was driving). Hmmm....still no sign of it...maybe it's on 192? So we headed down to 192. We drove about 5 miles on 192 when Steve decides we are "misplaced" (we have a distinction between "lost" and "misplaced"..."lost" means you have no idea where you are and "misplaced" means you know where you are but it's not where you want to be!) So we were definitely misplaced. Steve called information, got the phone number, called Bahama Breeze, and, , OK, THAT'S where it is! So we started to head back 192 to I4. While we are on I4, Steve's cell phone rings. It's his mother...hmm...she never calls even when we're home, what's up with this? It turns out that his sister has been in a car accident on her way home from Philadelphia! She somehow managed to roll her car off of 76 into the median, which was actually somewhat of a ravine, turned it over in a water filled stream and managed to extricate herself before her car filled with water! O....M....G... Is she OK? Yes, but...it took the EMS, fire and police about 15 minutes to find her, they even had a helicopter looking for her. Thankfully someone saw her go over and called 911, because she lost her cell phone in the crash and would not have been able to call herself. She ended up climbing up the embankment to the median, where they finally found her. They took her to the hospital for evaluation, but other than a few cuts and bruises, she was OK. She definitely had a guardian angel on her shoulder that day! We were able to talk to my other SiL, who was on her way down to Norristown Hospital. Not that there was alot we could do from 1100 miles away, but at least we were in communication with them. Now I told you, things happen for a reason, right? We finally made it to Bahama Breeze, more than a little stressed and needing a Margarita or 2. We were seated quickly (the girl felt bad for us, she was the one Steve had talked to for directions) and put us at a nice quiet table in the back. The amazing part? We had absolutely NO CELL SERVICE in this restaurant. None. We could walk outside and have service, but for some reason neither of our cell phones worked inside. Had we not gotten lost, we would have never gotten the phone call about my SiL. Strange, huh? we were meant to wander for awhile so that my MiL could reach us and we could at least offer a reassuring call. After a wonderful dinner at Bahama Breeze, we headed back to OKW. We were tired, and a little stressed, so we decided to head over to the Hot Tub. Steve called him Mom again, his DS had been treated and released, and was going home with his other DS. We called her cell, and were able to talk to Gail, who was in pain but in good spirits, despite the circumstances. After being assured all was OK, we headed over to the hot tub. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. We turned on the jets, we laid our our towels. We took off our shorts. We got into the...WHAT? Warm tub? Uh..I take showers hotter than this... Sadly, the hot tub was the not-so-hot tub. The jets were very relaxing, and it was still nice, but not really what we wanted. So after about 20 minutes, we collected our towels and trudged dejectedly back to the room. Oh, well, all in all it had been a wonderful Disney day, albeit a little frightening with DSiL's accident, but at least she was OK! We were asleep early. Tomorrow was a VERY special day...Next: Steve to the rescue, "I didn't know that", and a very special delivery... |
