Re: Pixie Dust & Love 11/2-12/4 - Trials of Packing
We live in a micro-brew town too...but I hardly ever drink it anymore because of the calories (I'm no aerobics instructor.)
Luckily DH carry that German orderly trait and really KNOWS how to pack a suitcase. He also makes sure I pack enough warm clothes that may be needed...he hates it when I get cold. Sounds like you did a good job, thanks for keeping us updated!
Magical, forgiving, and beautiful pixie dust has dusted my shoulders!! I have just received a phone call from Jason’s family that they will no longer be coming to our house for Thanksgiving. Normally, I would be completely and totally offended by this drastic turn of events, but with my Disney trip hanging in the balance, this was a gift from those little pixies which fly around us each and everyday.
They seemed to come to the sudden realization that inviting themselves over to our house this year was probably not the best idea. Of course, too bad they couldn’t have thought about this 2 weeks ago when Jason informed them that we were leaving that night for a 10-day vacation!! Anyway, turkey has been ordered out to our local meet house, so no need to worry about anything, they will cook and prepare the bird. Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and all the rest are easy to buy pre-made at the store. Yes, I am cheating and I do know this!! We’re only feeding my parents and grandmother, and my father-in-law, so I’m not too worried about this turn of events.
Only a few more updates left before I post my farewell on Thursday. The fax to AKL has been written and faxed over to the resort. I’ve confirmed my reservations with TTC, although so far I’m a little less than pleased with their customer service. I’m a little worried about using them after some of the reports I’ve read, but if I don’t like the service on the way to the resort, I’ll make sure to call Quicksilver or Happy Limo for the way back to the airport. Airline reservations are all confirmed and they are just waiting for me to get onto the plane!!
All the laundry is done as of yesterday, but I’m sure I’ll do another load on Thursday morning just so that we can come home with just our suitcase full of dirty laundry. House is clean, mail is being picked up everyday and all the bills are paid. My suitcase doesn’t actually have any clothes INSIDE it yet, but it is open, laying on the bed waiting for the clothes to jump in. Since I’ve now finished with all the laundry, clothes can now get packed! I'm picking up the second large suitcase from my parents house today, of course Jason hasn't even thought about packing yet (at least all his clothes are clean now!!), but I'm not going to worry about it. If he forgets something he'll have to deal!
Update: Jason, somehow, managed to figure out that we were going to do the the Steam Trains tour for his birthday gift!! Sometimes I think that boy is too smart for his own good – but I will get him back! Since he learned about that birthday plan, today I went out and bought a brand new Nikon lens for his new digital camera. It's a present he won't be expecting. Let’s hope he doesn’t see me pack a wrapped present in my suitcase!
I’ll post on Thursday evening before we leave how Thanksgiving went.
And yes, crazy people do 90-minutes of aerobics on Thanksgiving morning. Actually, it’s one of the most fun classes of the year because everyone knows they will pig out that day!!
Re: Pixie Dust & Love 11/2-12/4 - Thanksgiving Update
Another great update! Glad you got off the hook for most of your Thanksgiving diners! And how awful of Jason to find out about the steam trains tour That lens sounds like a good consolation prize though
Re: Pixie Dust & Love 11/2-12/4 - Thanksgiving Update
Sounds like everything is working out great ! We just got back a couple weeks ago, I can't wait to go back someday ! You will absolutely LOVE the AKL. Say HI to all the animals for me ! Hope you have a savannah view room.
A highlight of our trip was riding the train around MK (last run for the day). We sat in the very last car, last seat and had a wonderful time getting to know Fred the brake man. Have a terrific time!
Re: Pixie Dust & Love 11/2-12/4 - Pre-Trip & Plann
Your trip report sounds wonderful so far!! You are going to have a great time. I"m glad Thanksgiving turned out okay for you. I don't see how you could do aerobics in the morning, cook for 25 that afternoon, then leave on a 10-day vacation!!! I'm tired just thinking about it.

Does anyone remember that Disney commercial from a few years ago that had the children too excited to sleep? The little girl walks into the little boy room and asks, “Are you sleeping?”
The little boy (in the cutest voice) says, “I’m to EXCITED to sleep!!”
The mother hears the kids giggling and in her best motherly voice tells the kids to go to sleep. She then turns to her husband in bed and whispers, “You sleeping?”
He replies, “No – too excited.”
Well, that’s how I’ve felt the last two nights. I’m so very glad I went with a red-eye flight instead of a morning flight, now at least I might get some sleep tonight while on the plane!!

Day I, Part I: Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Passporter friends! Our dinner is finished, the dishwasher is working overtime on it’s 3rd load, and I am finished packing. Jason is sacked out on the couch watching Lord of the Rings Two Towers while I update my passporter. Surprise, surprise… he’s STILL not packed!! I’ve got just about everything into my suitcase at this point, I’m just going to shower and do my hair before I get on the plane tonight.
My aerobics class went smoothly this morning, nothing out of the ordinary. The club was hopping though, which is unusual for a Thursday at 8am.
Jason loves to cook (he’s so domestic!) so he was a huge help in getting dinner put together, doing just about everything himself. I just mainly picked up around the house and got things ready for the family. Our dinner was a success; everybody left feeling stuffed, so I guess the job was done.
So now, I’m in waiting mode. I’m not usually a nervous flyer or vacationer, but I can’t believe the butterflies I have in my stomach right now. I think it’s just the excitement building up.
Great news though, this afternoon, after dinner, one of Jason’s co-worker’s (another fireman) called to tell us that his parents work for Disney. We had no idea! Anyway, his father is in charge of all maintenance and operations at the Disney golf courses and they have offered to take us out to dinner while we are in Orlando. How nice is that?!? It’s amazing just how sweet people are in this world sometimes!
Well, I’m off to finish all the last-minute plans. To everyone going on vacation this week - Have magical (and safe) journey!
You're there right now! Can't wait to read all about it when you get back. It's nice to hear from another crazy workout person, I did the 90 minute Thanksgiving step class at my club here in Texas!!
