Re: Racing the Duck - Day zero!!! Still on Day 2 - post race After filling our tummies - and I do mean filling (I think the burgers at Beaches and Cream are the best I have tasted on property!), we decided we needed to walk - and headed to EPCOT. We walked over the International gateway bridge and after entering and doing a bit of window shopping at the shop at the IG - we headed toward UK - where we heard "British Invasion" playing - so we headed back into the Pavillion and parked ourselves (no easy feat after 13.1 miles mind you - getting down is easy - you have gravity - getting up is a B*&^%!) on a curb to listen to them. Not bad at all. Cheryl and I sang along. This was our first time to hear them play - and it is definately something I want to do again. After BI finished - we headed off to see "Off Kilter" - got to love men in KILTS!!! All I can say is YUM!!! ![]() Rockin with the boys in kilts After Off Kilter - we headed into the Canadian pavillion - amazingly - we've walked through here, and eaten here - but never shopped or seen the movie. So that is what we did. We ended up in the shop that sells "Anne of Green Gables" stuff - and Cheryl found a frog prince! She collects "cute" ones - so of course -we checked him out - hand made, hand painted - and only $35.00. SOLD!!! While she was getting him, I bought the new Off Kilter CD (sorry Lynn - couldn't wait to get home and order it off the internet - I wanted it right then) as well as two dreamcatchers for Scott and I (one for each house). I was suprised to see them in a Canadian shop, since I was taught that they are Native American (I am thinking SW US here - like New Mexico - where I went to high school) - but oh well - they were lovely. After shipping frogman back to the room, we went into the movie - OK - who put all those DERN steps there???? OUCH!! It was a beautiful movie - but I agree with some of our Canadian passporters - time for an update! I know we talked about going on Test track - and Cheryl was not up for Mission Space - but I can not remember if today was the day we did SE or not. I know we ended up delaying TT until Tuesday. One thing we did do was SHOP. We stopped at the little kiosks between Future World and World Showcase - and we found a great shirt for Cheryl - Advertisement And then we decided that since Scott owns his "castle" and I think he is a prince - I could buy one too. The we saw this shirt.... And immeadiately thought of our friend Kris - who was married last July. Cheryl made a comment that all we needed was a picture with Prince Charming == and the wheels began to turn!!! I remembered that Cindy and the gang hang out at 1900 Park Fair at night - and that PC is usually there. Thus began the great Prince Charming hunt (photos and details to follow). I mean - Kris has no sisters -- and Cheryl and I might as well be... so it works!!! Evening was quickly approaching and we had a 600pm PS for Yachtsman's Steakhouse (another new place for us) - so we decided it was time to leave EPCOT and walk back to YC. We arrived a couple minutes early - Cheryl scoped out the bathroom situation (NICE with the real hand towels!!! - Swanky), and we were seated within minutes. John was our CM - and he recommended the filet mignon, mushrooms and the BBQ chipotle shrimp. We tried all three - in addition I got the tomato and buffalo mozzerella salad (a new favorite) and Cheryl got the Scallops. I must say (sorry YS lovers) that we weren't that impressed. The food wasn't BAD - but we've had much better at Palo (on the Wonder) and at AP at WL..... The original bill came to $96.98 - but after DDE discount (19.40) and tax - total before tip was $82.83. We finished dinner around 700pm and started to look for the "beach club marina" - which is what I swore Denise had told me the marina was called... well, I did not see a beach club marina - but there was a Bayside marina -- so we found a bench and sat down. Within minutes a certain adorable young lady and her great mom (that would be Emilie and Sarah, of course) arrived. Emilie and I compared medals from our respective races and we waited for Denise, Jason, Vicky & Vicky's DM to arrive (sorry Vicky - brain is mush when it comes to names for the first time). I must say - Cheryl and Emilie became quite the pals -- and Sara was a complete and absolute doll - she bought Scott and I a FANTASTIC bottle of Italian wine (which we opened with the new cork screw day before yesterday and had with his mom's lasagna). While we were waiting for Denise, et al to arrive - Emilie annouced she needed to go potty - well - my "Aunt T" gene kicked in and Em and I hightailed it (literally folks - I ran - and boy did it HURT) to the little (and big) girls room. When we returned - running again - (Emilie beat me) - Denise and Jason had arrived. Lots of hugs and introductions around - and not too much later - Vicky and her mom arrived. We headed for the marina - and as Sarah has already posted - we waited till 820 boarded out boat, tootled around the resorts as well as MGM before heading for the bridge. WOW!!! This is SO the way to see Illuminations!!! I wish we could have seen more of the lasers and buildings - but WOW!!! Here are a few photos taken before we boarded the boat: Cheryl and Emilie horsing around Emilie and her stylish life vest! Cheryl and Emilie comparing medals The back of the boat somewhere near MGM And of course - Sarah posted a great Passporter meet photo already (my camera was not cooperating at all - and my photo came out too blurry). After a great Illuminations cruise - we took group photos - gave each other hugs (how long have I know these people - feels like forever!!!) and then headed back to the car at beach club to head home to WL - since we had been up since 325am!!! We were TIRED!! Whats next?? Day 3 - Magic Kingdom here we come & "has anyone seen Prince Charming?"

Re: Racing the Duck - Day zero!!! What great shirts!!! I don't laugh out loud at my computer often, but they did the trick. Thanks! Hope you found Prince Charming! If not, let me know. Both times that I've gone to the World, I've asked my best friend what she'd like as a souvie, and all she says is "Bring me Prince Charming!" Kinda hard to do! The first trip I brought her a pin. This last one, I lucked into Cindy and her Prince the night of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and asked if I could get a shot just of him. Got a great one! Sharon got a framed 8 X 10! ![]()

Re: Racing the Duck - Day zero!!! What an awesome update - the Illuminations cruise sounds like so much fun! Thanks for the honest opinion on the Yachtsman Steakhouse, you're not the first person to make those comments about it. We're still undecided about going there, but the Disney Dining Experience might help to persuade me - at least it won't be as expensive. ![]()

Re: Racing the Duck - Day zero!!! Just getting caught up on your fantastic TR, Terri! Congrats to you and Cheryl for runing the half-marathon. Sounds like a very course. We have a neat 15K road race here each July; it's rated in Runner's World Magazine and the elite runners from Kenya always run it. The course is very picturesque and goes up and down hills and throughout the city. Local bands play right on the street, neighbors set up hoses on their lawns to cool off runners and radio stations broadcast live; its a really big deal and a fun race to run, from what I'm told. Afterwards, there is a massive block party sponsored by the local brewery w/ free beer for all the runners! P.M. me if you want more details and I'll send you the website link. ![]() Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had trouble finding Beaches and Cream, but wasn't the search worth it? Didn't have a burger there (I will next time!), but I can still taste the No Way Jose Sundae! ![]() the Prince Charming shirt; I saw the pink ones while I was down in November, but wish I had seen the blue one. Really cute!Hurry back with the next installment, please! ![]()
