| Re: Racing the Duck - Day 2/pt 3 - 1/17 Day 3 - Part 3 - "Someday my prince will come".. Ok - wrong movie - but you get the point. We left WL and drove over to GF. Since I had been valet parking at WL - we valet parked at GF valet... makes life SO much easier. We headed into GF wearing our matching "Prince wanted" shirts and checked in at the Podium. There were princess EVERYWHERE!!! I think we saw (miniature version of course) - Cindy, Belle, Snow White, Aurora and a generic princess or two. When we checked in - we asked the CM if "he" was there and we were assured "he" was.... (insert giddy school girls laughter here - which went on throughout dinner...)![]() Many of the little ones were in line to meet the ultimate Godmother - the Fairy Godmother == we decided to wait a bit and meet her after dinner. It wasn't long and our pager went off. We were led to a small table, around the corner from the buffet right next to the Service area (read here - major busy with CMs flying in and out of the door all the time). Not long after that our CM came, took our drink order and told us the buffet was open and available. We headed for the salad portion of the buffet - and here is where Cheryl became a food critic -- we went to get shrimp - and they ran out right as she went to get some... she mumbled something about not enough shrimp - and this man in a tie and jacket (later found out he was the manager) starts yelling "shrimp, shrimp, we need shrimp..." I thought Cheryl was going to die of embarassment.... Of course then they ran out of cocktail sauce when I got my shrimp... and the chant started again... None of the salads really appealed to me - the shrimp was all I got and all Cheryl got and we headed back to the table to look for "him" (Prince radar on and operational - check". We each scanned our portion of the dining room -- and before we saw him - Cindy showed up...We talked to her for a bit.. she read our shirts and we explained the whole "evil step sister" thing... And it was explained to me that the Rodger's and Hammerstein version of Cinderella is a "loose interpretation of my story of course".... uh, ok? We were also informed that unlike many of Disney's other princes -- he is just "Charming" - (even if R&H named him Christopher Rupert, etc, etc, etc). Perla stopped by next - and we learned that Perla wears Purple... now I can tell her and Suzy apart (sort of like Chip and the Chocolate Chip thing). Terri and Perla And right after Perla - oooo - there he is - at the table right behind us!!! Prince Charming at the table next to ours Giddy school girl laughter again. Mind you - neither of us was eatting much at all yet - since we didn't want to miss HIM.... PC (as he will be called) came by the table, kissed hands and took photos... he read the shirts and proclaimed that Cheryl and I were only 53 years too late!!! (ok - the kid looks 20 at most)... We traded photo taking duties... and our CM took a group photo that Suzy snuck into... Overall the character interaction was to die for (one character in particular of course) - the meal left much to be desired. The prime rib was either too rare or too well and most of the choices on the buffet did not strike any interest with me - even the ice cream tasted funny and the brownie was a brick... So - we paid $47.70 (55.98 - 11.20 DDE discount) to make googly eyes over a 20 something who probably thought we'd lost our minds!!! After dinner - we headed out into the lobby to get some phots with the queen of Godmothers herself - the Fairy Godmother. Cheryl and I are both Godmothers - so we stopped for some guidance from the chief godmother herself. After dinner - we headed back to the room to pack up all our stuff and get ready to check out in the morning. Next up - Tonga Toast, FOTLK, and a Donkey Found!!! |

You should have offered your scraps to Perla!! ![]() |

| Re: Racing the Duck - Day 2/pt 3 - 1/17 Love the fanning picture. I'm living that PC encounter vicariously through you. I'm having the same giddy school girl reaction just reading it. I think DH would just roll his eyes too much to actually book a PS. Maybe I'll luck out at MNSSHP |

| Re: Racing the Duck - Day 2/pt 3 - 1/17 Hey - I think, judging by the photos of you guys, the price of that meal was excellent value. You looked like you were having so much fun there! Thanks for the honesty about the menu though - this is why we've put off going there for dinner, as it is expensive and I've not been convinced that the food is worth it... |
