| Re: The Half Marathon Comeback Run-Day 2B(1/14) Ahh, the pool.... We got back to the room and I just couldn't resist taking advantage of the weather. Mark wanted to nap and watch some football stuff and I think he was interested in a little more than that, but not before the race!! He knows this!! Its a rule. Anyway, I put on my favorite raspberry colored bikini and took my Tom Clancy book and two towels out to the quiet pool. There was another couple sitting out in the sun and very attractive young man also reading a book across the way. MMMM....eye candy.... I didn't want to sit for too long, I was afraid that I might get a sunburn and then be uncomfortable tomorrow during the run, what with the chafing that could happen. I read for about 45 minutes, swam, well, walked in the pool so as not to get my hair wet (vanity, you know) and decided that the slight pink I was turning was probably plenty sun for today. But I could have laid there all day. When I got back to the room I realized that I hadn't packed any body lotion and mousekeeping didn't leave any so I headed to Port Royale to buy some. Mark asked me to pick up some sunscreen for him also. We'd forgotten to pack that too. I just didn't think he would need it. See, he's white like feta cheese and burns in about 2 seconds, but I didn't think it would be this sunny and warm. At Port Royale a small bottle of regular lotion was about $2, but sunscreen was $10. No way. When I got back to the room I told Mark he'd have to wear a hat and stay out of the sun. We were meeting Mom and Dad at 2:45 or so at City Hall in MK, so we got re-dressed, same clothes but with long sleeve shirts tied around our waists. We also made the executive decision this morning to not carry the camera. Honestly, we have tons of pictures of the same stuff and neither of us wanted to carry anything, so I carried tickets, a credit card and the room key and Mark carried a cell phone. We parked in the TTC lot in row 97. YOu can only get 3 rows further away. Holy Cow! We took the tram and then the monorail. I've never done that big ferry boat and I know they say it takes the same amount of time, but I just don't buy it. As we walked up the ramp to the monorail we were confronted with the most horrible BO from a tank topped man. It was so bad that we had to make sure we got in a different car than he did. His wife was right there with him and I can't believe she didn't send him to the restroom for quick wash. See, just another reason men should not be allowed to wear tank tops. We were a few minutes late but quickly found Mom and Dad looking at pins outside of city hall. Dad has a hat that he adds pins to, its the fishing hat from AK that already had pins out it and he like to flip the front edge up so he looks really goofy. It annoys my mom, that's why he does it. Personally I don't care. If you want to wear a hat that makes you look stupid when you are 65 and newly retired, I'm the last person to stop you. Our first trip is to Philharmagic. We didn't see this last year when it opened because the line was long and the fast passes didn't work out for us. This time we walked right in and loved the whole thing! I was not disappointed at all and put it right up there with ITTBAB, although Dad and Mark said they liked bug better. Stupid boys. Mom and I know all the songs so we sang all the way through this one. We went over to Peter Pan but the line was 50 minutes long, so we got fastpasses instead and headed for Tomorrowland. Let me preface this. I loved Alien Encounter. Sure it was scary, that was the point. If you didn't like scary you should stay out of it. The effects of AE were awesome, you really suspended reality and beleived that something was after you. There is nothing like tension and anxiety to make your senses go crazy! I was also a little happy to hear that this became a Stitch ride, I figured the same effects with a less scary theme would still be cool. We got there an the line said 25 minutes. Normally I would just fastpass it, but we didn't have much else on our must do list and everyone agreed to wait. The preshow it entertaining, they did a nice job using existing stuff in a new storyline. We enter the chamber and sit and I'm really looking forward to this. We get to see Stitch and he's really big and as cool as you could expect. Then the lights go down and the effects begin. I hope I don't spoil this for anyone, but what huge dissapointment. The effects were minimal and not nearly as creative and exciting as AK were, a good portion of the time is spent just listening to the cartoons talk and watching the laser guns spin around. At no point did I get the sense in the dark that there was something else in the room. For example, on AE, there was a point were you could feel and hear the alien breathing on your neck. Totally freaked me out. You could also feel him running around the room and landing on your seat. None of that was there. Stitch burps and the effect is pretty cool, but otherwise there isn't much there. I'm very sad about this ride. Maybe I just need more scariness to enjoy these sensory experiences or maybe my seat was defective, but they really screwed up on this one. After that, and the consensus that it wasn't as good as AE, Mom and Dad went on the people mover (I know, I know, tomorrowland tranporation blah blah)and Mark and I got in the longest line I've ever waited in for Space Mountain. We had 45 minutes until our PS at TTS and the line was 35 minutes long. again I wouldn't normally go on this ride with a line that long, but we didn't have lots of plans and if the time was correct this would be just right before dinner. The time was a little off, but in our favor and in what felt really fast we were in line for our car. In front of us were a foreign family who had been told at the gate into the snaky part of the line, after you've been through the tunnely part, that one of their children wasn't tall enough. The CM tried to explain baby swap, but I don't think they understood. First they were going to leave via the escape exit but then got in line anyway. When they got up to the cars the CM didn't check their heights and sent them to a car. I didn't want to be a bad guy, but their too short child was also really really skinny and I was afraid for her. So I told the CM that the other CM had said she was too short and they would have to swap. She pulled them aside and explained again, but the family left. I felt bad, because she wasn't that much too short, but she was so small overall that I just didn't see how this ride was a good idea. Space Mountain rocks! Especially when you get to be in the front row! I know its not as fast at RRC or TOT and can't compare to the thrills of IOA, but I still love it. Mom and Dad were waiting for us when we got off and we all headed to TTS for dinner. I thought we should sit outside, but everyone disagreed with me. We checked in and were seated in few minutes. Our server was very capable, keeping our water full and bringing more bread when we needed it. The fact is, Tony's just isn't that good. I really think it must be food for people who don't want any flavor. The pork that Dad and Mark had was the most bland meal. Considering it was covered in sauce, that's saying something. We go here before the marathon because I need pasta and I can't stand the thought of being around all those runners. My anxiety gets really high and I burn up all my adrenaline before the race. I like to relax and not think about the race at all until I'm at the start line. So we ate our mediocre food with good service, tipped her well and got the hell out of there. The parade as going to start in about an hour and Mom wanted to get her spot on the curb right now. Mark and I wanted to go on some rides first. So they stayed and we went. We got used our fast passes for Peter Pan. Mark had never been on this, and so it was enjoyable to show him a ride that I liked when I was a kid. He liked it too. We were heading back when I saw that Snow White had no line at all. I had told him that I thought it was scary for little kids but that I always liked (a thrill seeker even as a kid!) We went on, he agreed and in general we had a nice time remembering my childhood. |

| Re: The Half Marathon Comeback Run-Day 2B(1/14) Oh my gosh, Kim! ![]() You are hilarious! You have too many good ones to quote, so I'm not even going to try. My 3-year-old DD agrees with you about the Snow White ride although she calls it The Wicked Witch Ride. I always love the sound of everything you order, so I might just skip Tony's on your recommendation! Kept it coming! I this report!Jill |
