| Re: WDW, Christmas & folks new house: Part 10 Heading Home December 28, 2004: Heading home My flight was not due to leave until 1:00 so we had could sleep in. We both got up around 8:00. Sandy had a few things to do around the house so I packed the car and then sat and watched the Today Show. It was garbage day so Sandy wanted me to help her take some of her water damaged furniture outside. She had one of those particleboard entertainment centers that needed to be disassembled. It was pretty heavy so we had to drag it outside. When Sandy went inside to get a hammer I just kicked it and it collapsed. Sandy laughed when she came outside. (I think destroying that thing was helping release a lot of pent up anger from the week). ![]() Sandy’s attack cat Socks, she looks innocent but trust me she will rip your face off and then laugh about it While putting the garbage out Sandy noticed the landscapers were out cleaning up the grounds. Sandy is the president of the condo association. We walked around the complex and were stopped by one of Sandy’s more vocal neighbors. He wanted to know how much the landscapers were going to clean up. Two condos in the complex have been all but deserted since the last hurricane. Much of the rotted drywall had been thrown out on the grass, which in turn killed the grass underneath. Sandy and her fellow condo owner made sure the land scapper knew they needed to clean up the piles of rubble. The association would pay the extra fee then charge the condo owners who left the mess. I can only image the types of critters were taking refuge in piles! Since the car was already loaded it was time to head to breakfast. Sandy give a choice of a few places and I choose Cracker Barrel. I love their pancakes and they always serve them with REAL Vermont maple syrup. Mmmm. Sandy and I ordered pancakes, bacon and eggs. Both our pancakes were alittle overdone so we sent them back. The second batch was perfect and we gobbled them up. I paid for dinner since Sandy had put me up for 7 nights. We had alittle time to kill so we looked at the Christmas stuff. Everything was on sale for 50% off. I purchased two ornaments and a t-shirt for Cheryl who was taking care of Belle. The sad thing was I could hardly fit my new purchases into my suitcases! After some rearranging I got everything in snuggly. We arrived at the airport around 11:45. Sandy said it would probably be very hard to find a parking spot. I told her I didn’t mind if she dropped me off at my gate. I could handle my bags on my own. After I unloaded all my things was hugged good-bye and I made my way to Independence Air’s Check-in. The line was rather short, I got my boarding passes and dropped my luggage with the screener. He had a huge pile of luggage to screen so he just had my slip my bag under the rope and said I was free to leave. I dragged my carry-on luggage to the WDW Store in the airport. After looking around for a while I purchased a copy of Wishes made my way to security check. The line was very long although they had several going at once. The wait was short, less then 10 minutes. One last ride on the monorail and I walked to my gate. When I got there I found a seat and cracked open my book. About 10 minutes before the plane was due to board they made an announcement that our flight was delayed. Oh NO…NOT AGAIN! This time the wait was an hour. We finally boarded and made our way to Dulles. Once at Dulles I found out that my flight to Lansing was also delayed for an hour. After an hour wait we were able to board the plane and we in the air in no time. I was ready to see my fur kids and sleep in my own bed. We touched down in Lansing at about 8:30 (we were suppose to arrive at 6:30!). I waited for my lugged then grabbed a cab and headed home. They had gotten some snow in Lansing while I was gone. The last few winters this has happened. I leave and there is no snow but when I come home my car is buried. When I got home I dragged my luggage inside then went outside to clean my car off so I could go get Belle at Cheryl’s. Belle was very happy to see me. She was so excited her whole body was wiggling. I got her leash, crate and food and we headed home. Belle was very tired from her week chasing Cheryl’s boarder collies. After nosing around my luggage she fell asleep on the floor. I stayed up and watched alittle TV then it was lights out for me as well. ![]() Umm…okay I am guilty of buying one of those silly bandanas for my dog, Belle! |
