Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... Sunday - Feb 6, 2005 - Now it's time to say goodbye.... We woke up early again. This time - 615am (hey an hour later!) and immeadately had the coffee pot in the room going. FYI for the coffee drinkers - the coffe in the room is a French roast in pre-measured packets and the pots make 4 cups. We lazed away for a bit in the morning, and finally decided to get up. We took showers, packed our bags and called for the luggage guy. When Scott answered the door - the guy said "Mr. Jordan?" Errr... No. We laughed it off though and Scott said "Thats the last time the room is in your name!" ![]() We headed downstairs, Scott went to get the car and put the bags in it - and I stopped at the front desk to say thanks to Keri and and give her a hug. She thought we were headed home right then, but I explained we were headed for breakfast followed by a morning at the MK. We left WL and headed to the Polynesian to purchase Kona coffee for Scott and great some breakfast at the Kona cafe. We valeted the car, and headed into the Poly. We went to the Kona Cafe, checked in and got a beeper. Then we went to the coffee bar and bought Scott a one pound bag of Kona coffee (which he has been drinking with gusto at home.... he loves it - now to figure out how to get more before the May trip). He also decided he wasn't that hungry and ordered the fruit plate for breakfast. Now I remember seeing photos of Maureen and Lynn's fruit plate - and it was huge. Bread boy was gonna be suprised. I ordered pancakes (plain ole pancakes) with a side of fruit, biscuits with butter and an ice tea. Scott went to the restroom and I called Cheryl just to say "hi" cause we were at Kona cafe and I was thinkig of her. When Scott came back, he talked to her for a moment as well and I guess they talked about Tonga Toast from what I heard of the conversation. Scott has seen photos of Tonga toast, and listened to me describe it - and since he does not like sweets - he would not like it. I find it too sweet for me and I love sweet things!! After finishing with Cheryl - our food arrived. Scott's fruit plate Terri's pancakes, fruit and biscuits Scott was able to finish the entire fruit plate, as well as a biscuit and some of my fruit (I swear he has a hollow leg) and I finished 2/3's of my pancakes. We settled the bill, and caught the monorail to MK. I was not sure how Scott would handle this park - he really isn't into "kiddie" rides... and really not into kids (or as he phrases it - the lack of attention and discipline that some parents exhibit with their kids. We were both raised in strict households... So - we started on Main Street - where I must admit - I forced him to take a picture with me.... remember, he hates pictures (we have agreed to work on this). The CM also took one with my camera. Main Street Photos After photos, we headed to tomorrowland and got a Fastpass for Buzz Lightyear. Scott was not sure he would like this, but agreed to ride it once to try it. Then we headed for Space Mountain - to learn that they were having "Technical difficulties" and the ride had stopped. I thought this would be a great time to hop on TTA and kill a bit of time before Buzz. I must say that Tomorrowland was PACKED!!! Massively crowded and it was nearly impossible to walk between the TTA and Buzz lightyear. In addition - many of the CMs were wearing ribbons that they are CMs for the new HongKong Disneyland and were here for training. We hopped on the TTA - and ended up going inside SM with the LIGHTS ON!!! I have NEVER seen it with the lights on. Here are some photos (I wish they were better). Space Mountain with the Lights on After TTA, we headed to Buzz - where I scored 75,000 (boo hiss) and Scott scored 45,000.... at least I beat him. He complained he could not figure out which red dot was his. In the photo - Scott looks alot like the guy here on the boards... so I DID NOT buy the photo!!! I was informed that he isn't interested in that ride again.I could see we were headed into rought waters - so I said - well, lets go to Frontierland and ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. Both rides had a 5 minute wait time. Scott said he didn't want to get wet - and my response was - so we will sit in the back - which usually means you stay drier than the front... Here are a couple of photos from on SM - Scott not moving fast enough to avoid the camera Going up toward the drop Scott said he enjoyed the ride - and remembers the movie. He asked if I had it on video and I had to tell him it was not re-released in the US.... . White we waited in line to look at our photo, I had Scott take a picture of the terri "wet butt" look - I was more wet on the back and bottom than on the front and top. The photo was ok - but we decided not to get it. Terri "wet butt" look After SM - we headed to BTMRR, where the 5 minutes was more like 10 or 15, since they were only loading one side of the tracks. Scott asked me why they did that and I said I did not know.... We took a slower (or so it seemed compared to Dec and Jan) ride and when we were done - Scott said it was "Ok - but not really worth standing in line for... ".I knew I was really in troubled waters now - and suggested we head for Pirates of the Caribbean. We had a french family in front of us, and a little pirate (named Jack ) and his mom and dad behind us in line. Mom wondered out loud if they had added Johnny to the ride... and I said that he was not there last month... We joked that if they did - the line would be for women only!!! We boarded our boat, with the french family taking the first 3 rows, then Jack and his parents with Scott and I in the back. Right after we left - the french people decided to rearrange themselves in the boat!!! They climbed over seats, stood up and basically freaked me out!! Then the grandfather (I assume) started taking flash photos!!! . Oh well. Scott had not seen the movie "POTC" and did not remember this ride from when he was 13, but he did enjoy more of the "robots". After POTC, we walked back over to Tomorrowland to see if Space was running - which it was not - and a certain boy had had enough. I completely forgot about Philharmagic... so we left. It was right about noon. We caught the resort launch back to the Poly, got the car and headed to DTD for lunch and to do some shopping at Basin (and only Basin - ).We wanted to have Lunch at teh Earl of Sandwich, but when we walked in the door - the line was 3 wraps long (back and forth) and turned and walked right back out the door. Instead we headed to Wolfgang Puck express. I had the Margarita pizza and Scott had the Ham and Provalone sandwich and chips. The pizza was good, the sandwich was good, the chips were stale and greasy. After lunch - we headed to Basin and stocked up on bathbombs for the next couple of months (they are so nice to have with the jacuzzi tub). After lunch and Basin - we drove home, dropped off my suitcase, picked up my overnight bag and headed to Scott's house. Traffic was good. We did not watch the game, in fact we didn't watch tv at all. we both read books and went to bed early since Scott wanted to get up early to be at work at 5am !So there you have it - the first trip to WDW with Scott as an adult. I learned - he loved EPCOT, like MGM and would not mind avoiding MK as much as possible. We have not done AK yet - and the "when we come back" was stated a couple of times. We had wonderful meals and a nice relaxing weekend together - that I really think we needed. Hope everyone enjoyed our adventure!!!

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... Mmmmm...that Kona breakfast looks goooooood. Thanks so much for sharing your date with us! Sorry he didn't like MK--AK is really educational, you should definitely try to get him in there (when the crowds are LOW.) I wish we lived closer to WDW, what an excellent way to spend the weekend!

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... [ QUOTE ] Did anyone notice the hidden Mickey on Terri's "wet butt"? Great report! Enjoyed every word! [/ QUOTE ] How funny is that??? Terri didn't even notice the hidden Mickey on Terri's butt. With regard to the next trip - I am thinking Food and Wine Festival - unless he says something about going sooner. While we were down there - we did talk about Christmas as well.

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... Great report Terri! Sorry Bread Boy did not care for MK - maybe it will grow on him in future trips. The important thing is he is agreeing to future trips which means more chances for the Disney magic to sink in (this is what I keep hoping happens to my DH )!

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... Great report. When guys start thinking out loud, you know something's up. I give it 6 months. A fall wedding would be lovely. Maybe combine it with the Food and Wine Festival. I bet his whole attitude about MK will change when he takes a kid with him.
