Sounds like you guys had a great trip - and when the immortal words "when we come back" have been uttered, you know it's been a success Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats....

Glad you had a great weekend!!! (Sorry you had to come back to the mass hysteria that is Jacksonville right now!!! I am sure it is no fun to be ANYWHERE in the city (nor will it be for the next couple of days while the Super Bowl goers filter out!)

Looking forward to hearing all about the trip!!!

Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats....

The "Grown up" WDW Trip report (aka - Escaping the Superbowl!!)

Your cast -
Terri (34) - 25th trip to WDW!!!
Scott (33) - 3rd trip - 1st as an adult

Dates - Feb 4-6, 2005
Lodging - Wilderness Lodge, Courtyard View - King bed requested

Thursday - Feb 3, 2005
Scott and I had not seen each other since Tuesday morning when we had our first "spat" (my mothers term for it), although we did talk every night before bed. I talked to him once during the day -- and he asked me if there was anyone who could go to Orlando with me if he still was not feeling well... "No" was my response.... ok - so now I get to worry that he is going to bail on the trip.... NO!!!!! please NO!!! He said that the thought he would be feeling a little better tomorrow.... so I had all fingers and toes crossed, and lots of prayers.

I called him later in the day to see about a "dinner date", but it took him more than an hour to get home (he works by the stadium) and called me at 630pm to say he had just left the office and "I need to do laundry, pack and go to bed by 8 - so I think dinners out"... ok - so what should I do for dinner?

How bout go to the Disney Store, cash in my gift card for Disney Dollars (for California) and grab something at Arby's (its been a LONG time since I ate here).

I went home, laid out my gym clothes and headed to bed.

Friday Feb 4, 2005
I fought waking up this morning, since I actually slept pretty well. I am almost over the grunge - and skipped the Vicoden laced cough medicine and STILL slept through the night. There is light at the end of the tunnel... I got up adn got into my gym clothes before heading to the HIT center and a training session with Alicia. I did ok for the hour, and after chatting a bit with some of the trainers, I headed back home for a shower, and to finish packing for the trip.

I think I was ready to go at about 10am... Ok - NOW what do I do? I am supposed to meet Scott at his house at noon... So - I filed, cleaned more, played with the computer a bit.. and basically twiddled my thumbs.

At about 11am, I was BORED OUT OF MY SKULL!!! I kissed the kitties goodbye, gave them a treat and told them to be good - and then into the Hyundai I hopped with all the STUFF and headed to Scott's house. Ok - I know I am early - but he will be there at noon...

NOT!!!

Noon came and went, then 1230.... I tried not to get mad, even talked to my mom for a bit and tried to keep my cool. At 1245, the garage door went up, Scott parked the truck and came in the house. He ran into the house begging forgiveness for being late and I said "thats ok, take your time", since I realized he HAD NOT PACKED YET (Heard inside Terri's head) OK Terri, breathe in, breathe out... remain calm.... do not get upset or he won't want to go to WDW....

After we got the bag packed, Scott changed, cat bowls filled, fish fed, cat box cleaned breathe in, breathe out, we loaded Scott's bag and a case of Coors light "I need my evening beer or two" into the trunk -- we left the house....

And headed to Jason's Deli for lunch breathe in, breathe out "I need something for lunch, but not fast food".... Remeber Terri - he doesn't get it yet - remain calm and relaxed, smile, breathe..... We did have a wonderful lunch... but I wanted to be in the car headed to WDW, not sitting in a booth across from Scott eatting the Roma special!!! I was beginning to wonder if we were EVER going to leave Jacksonville and head to WDW!!!

We finished lunch at 2pm, and FINALLY pointed the car south on I-95 to head to WDW. I drove, since the truck is a monster, plus I know where I am going.... Scott read the paper, his book, commented on road construction, the Daytona speedway and upcoming race on the 20th, and just talked. We talked most of the way -- while he commented on his coughing (which sounds awful). We took the 417 bypass since there was NO WAY that I was driving through downtown Orlando on a Friday afternoon at 430pm. Scott could not believe I wanted to take a toll road when a free option was available (did I mention how "thrifty" my BF is?)... until I calmy explained that I did not want to have to fight the traffic, and that we really needed to be at WL no later than 5pm since Keri (WL manager I met in Dec) leaves work at 5pm.... so he relented. I promised we would drive home via I-4 on Sunday.

We arrived at WDW's main gate at 435pm on the dot. And pulled under the canopy of WL at 445pm. Scott was impressed by the building. I valeted the car (won't see it again till Sunday morning) (BTW - valet costs went up - they are now $7.00/day), checked the bags in with the valet and headed to the front desk. Cora checked us in - and I when asked to speak to Keri - her eyes got really large - until I explained I knew her and just wanted to say "hi". Scott made a bathroom break (ok - editorial comment here - I think running buddy Cheryl and Scott are related... they simply can not pass up a bathroom without a stop), while I checked us in. Keri was in back in a meeting, but sent word that I would see her this weekend.

Our room - 5075, king bed, courtyard, non-handicapped accessible...= bathtub!!! It was also DIRECTLY off the lobby - the best of both worlds!! It was the BEST courtyard room I have stayed in yet!!! It had a very large king bed, chair and ottoman, table, and chairs, and tv cabinet. Scott was VERY impressed with the room and could not believe that we paid $153.00 a night for it. He thought it would be more like $250.00 a night!! I explained the whole FL resident/annual passholder thing to him.. but I am not sure it sunk in. I hate to say I did not think to take pictures of the room, but did take a photo of our view.

View from 5075

After checking in, and getting bags brought up - we left and I gave Scott 2 options:

1) Go to MK, try to ride rides, see wishes and then dinner at AP OR
2) Go to the Contemp, monorail around the resort loop, check out CR, PR and GF, then go to MK for Wishes and back for dinner.

He chose #2.

Next - The longest monorail ride I have ever taken.... and could it be any colder!!!

Scott seems just like my DH...no sense of urgency to get to WDW!!! Good for you though for remaining calm. The view from your room looks beautiful!

I'm SO glad to hear you finally made it! I love how you had to make him happy by promising to take the toll-free highway on the way home. Beautiful view, glad he liked the WL, can't wait to read more!

Not to worry Cheryl, my DD Rachel and my sister must be related to you too. They must visit every bathroom where ever we are. Name a place, they can tell you where the "facilities" are. And tell you the quality.
