| Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... Very - he likes the Polynesian and the GF! I wish the coffee bar would stay open at the Polynesian - or at least open back up for the evening. I always see people stopping by and getting disappointed. If a picture paints a thousand words...how sweet that he held you during Wishes. See what happens when you freeze a man! Seriously, it sounds like your weekend is off to a great start! Can't wait to hear about AP. |

| Re: Escaping the Eagles and the Pats.... I forgot to tell you that Mickey was wishing everyone a goodnight as we left MK and Scott made me stop and take pictures!!! Mickey's Goodnight After settling into the Territory Lounge for a glass of wine and beer, the buzzer went off - Scott stayed behind to settle the bill (why can't they transfer it?) using the DDE discount card and I was seated in AP. We sat at one of the tables with the bench on one side and chairs on the other - far away from the windows. I sat down in the booth side, and sank so far down my chin hit the table!!! Luckily there was a portion of the bench where two cushions came together and I settled my fanny there so that I could at least attempt to stay at a normal height for eatting dinner. I told the CM who seated me that he needed to look for "a really tall guy, dark hair with a jean jacket" so that Scott could be seated with me and about 5 minutes later, Scott mozied (and I mean mozied) in. I asked him if the CM had brought him (since he was alone and you could not see me from the door) and he said "nope, I just walked in like I knew where I was going..." OK. Jae was our CM and she immeadiately noted that I had 1/2 a glass of wine and that Scott was drinking coors light. She offered to get him another beer when that one was done and offered me another glass of wine. I turned down the wine and opted for ice tea - and Scott accepted the beer offer (like he would turn that down?). She brought out a great loaf of sourdough bread that was very quickly consumed. Scott is a huge bread fan. I think I could feed him only bread for awile and he would be happy... Jae refilled the bread "tin" twice during dinner.... We both opted for the Chefs special menu . You get 4 items on the menu for $47.00 (If I remember correctly). We both started with the Bibb Lettuce Salad with Buttermilk Chive Dressing, chopped egg and bacon, followed by the Smoky Portobello Soup with Roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil (the exact same thing I had last time I was at AP in October with Cheryl). The soup was SO good we asked for the recipe. I have it - now I have to figure out how to cold smoke portabello mushrooms.... And after reading the recipe - there is NO WAY this soup qualifies as low cal....For our entrees - Scott had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Humboldt Fog Rosti, green beans and red wine sauce while I had (suprise) Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon with roasted celery root-potato puree, pan roasted fennel and truffle-honey-brown butter. You can't mess with perfection. The entire meal Scott was commenting how good everything was and how suprised he was by the quality. I had a bite of his tenderloin and it was yum and I gave him some of my salmon - which was perfect as always (although I was given a compliment from DBF - that my basil butter salmon was his favorite salmon so far!!! BONUS POINTS for Scott!!). Scott kept saying that he would definately want to eat here again "when we come back to WDW".... ![]() Right before dinner was served I looked at my watch and noticed it was 915pm!!! OK, problem! Champagne and Strawberries are scheduled to be delivered to the room at 930pm... we won't make it , so what does a good supriser do - lies to DBF about needing a bathroom break (luckily the bathrooms are near the hostess stand at the entrance to the restaurant) and makes a beeline to the front desk where she is met with a LONG LINE!!! I was flitting back and forth, looking at my watch and it seemed everyone was taking FOREVER!! Finally a new CM approached the counter and called me over. I explained the whole strawberry champagne thing and we rescheduled them to 10pm. OK - we should be done in 45 minutes. He even walked the note to in-room dining to make sure they got it.Editorial note - folks wanting to suprise SO with "adult beverage" you must be in the room to receive it - Disney will not leave it in the room.... Ok - so mission accomplished (I actually thought of Maureen and the Mission Impossible theme) I dashed back to AP (thank heavens I did not really need a bathroom break) and was seated right as my salmon arrived. For dessert - I opted for plain, jane vanilla ice cream and Scott decided on the famous Wilderness Lodge Artist Point Cobbler - Seasonal berries and housemade black raspberry ice cream. All you cobbler fans, I have to admit that when I had the cobbler in October - I didn't like it. But then I am not a cooked fruit fan . Scott however loved it : . We settled the bill - which was right at $100.00 before DDE discount and like 85 something after (Scott paid this one and I did not grab a copy of the receipt).I looked at my watch and it was 10pm!!! So we went upstairs, and a certain person decided he wanted !!! Ok - smile Coffee, you want coffee??? I ordered Champange and strawberries and you want coffee?? WAAAA! "ok - be sure to take your room key". I headed to the bathroom to change clothes and in a couple of minutes, Scott was knocking on the door ( room key left on the table), I dashed from the bathroom where I was changing stood behind the door and said "I really hope thats you!!". It was.... Not 45 seconds later (as I was back in the bathroom trying to finish changing), another knock on the door. I asked "can you get that??" - and I heard a CM say - "I have a delivery, can I come in sir??". Scott asked me if I knew anything about this and I said - "yes - its ok - let him in". The CM placed the tray on the table, Scott tipped him and he left. Then Scott turns to me and said "did you do this?" Duh!!!! "yes, I thought you would like something special". The champagne was Disney's house champagne (sparkling wine I should say since it is not from Champagne, France) and the strawberries were tuxedo strawberries dipped in white and milk chocolate on a bed of dark chocolate. Here are the photos.... Champagne Tuxedo Strawberries Now - all of you peeping Toms - time to leave the room!!! Next - A morning at MGM |

I thought that the price was fantastic also for everything that you ordered! I can't believe how cushy that booth seat was - - did you feel about 5 years old sitting so low??? And the champagne and strawberries -- how was that???I did close my eyes after you ordered us (the peeping toms) out too! More, more, more please - - and I'll completely understand if you skip to the next morning! ![]() Jill |
