| Re: LizardCop and Jan\'s WDW Christmas PT-3 updtd 2/5 [b] More of our last day at WDW… The train under the tree in MK… Right behind the Roy and Minnie statute… ![]() ![]() This plaque is at the train.. ![]() It reads… The Lilly Belle In the early 1950’s, Walt Disney built a one-eighth-scale model railroad that circled his home on Carolwood Drive in Holmby Hills, California. He named his railroad the Carolwood Pacific after his street address. The train was constructed at the Disney Studio Machine Shop, where Walt himself helped build many of the freight cars. He named his engine “The Lilly Belle” after his wife Lillian, in appreciation for her allowing a miniature live steam train to encircle their home. Walt’s backyard model railroad was the inspiration for the steam for the steam trains that today circle Disney’s Magic Kingdoms around the world. Now, we headed for the monorail and the TT to switch and ride the monorail over to EPCOT. At the TT, we got to ride up front on the monorail to EPCOT with an older English couple. We chatted about WDW, the weather, and other things… The driver and I talked about why there isn’t a monorail system around all of WDW, but he said it had a lot to do with the management/CEO… The pictures aren’t that great, but here’s some from the trip to EPCOT… ![]() ![]() ![]() Once at EPCOT, we headed for the pin station, where we had been told a new pin was to be released today, but it wasn’t. With the weather as bad as it was, and as bad as it was predicted/reported at home, we decided to start heading back towards the Blazer to head home… Here’s a few pictures on the way out of the park… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That about does it for my pictures. We headed back to Pop, got into the Blazer and started heading back home. BUT one of the things we had wanted to do when we got there was check out the outlet malls, so we decided to head for them on the way out… WHAT WERE WE THINKING??????? December 24th??? Outlet Malls???? We got into the parking lot of ONE and decided that was not something we wanted to do today. We did stop at one of the smaller stores and bought a couple of things, then stopped at a McDonalds for food and hit the road back home… We left Pop around 11:45 Eastern Time and got back home around 7PM Central time. NEXT: Jan’s pictures from the 24th and my final thoughts on the trip….. |

| Re: LizardCop and Jan\'s WDW Christmas PT-3 updtd 2/5 [b] Final thoughts… I going to Disney!!!When we left to go down, we had some grand “flexible” plans. Jan wanted to spend a day at Universal. We wanted to try some new places to eat and I wanted to do some new, for me, rides… Well, we did some of that. No, we didn’t make it to Universal. We’ll have to do that next trip. This was one of the longest trips to WDW we’ve made yet. Fortunately, we were rigidly flexible, cause Jan didn’t get sick on purpose. I felt sorry for her, and she kept apologizing for “ruining” our vacation. It wasn’t ruined, we were together at the happiest place on earth. But, we could have been together at the hellish place on earth, and I would have still been happy because we were together… We did try some new places, It was our first time at CP and 50’s Prime Time. Both were great, and we’ll do them both again. The same goes for Concourse Steak House, another great meal… And we’ll probably do Alfredo’s again too, I’ll just make sure I don’t do anything with pork… As for rides, Splash Mountain was fun again, and I enjoyed Buzz and test Track. We’ll do them again. If I can get over my motion sickness, I’d like to try others, but I don’t like getting sick and ruining it for others….. We had hoped to see all of the resorts decorated for Christmas, we didn’t make that either. We did make the monorail resorts, and they were great. I WDW at Christmas, and will make the trip again, and again, and again…And all those things we didn’t get to do this time, can be done next time. It was great to see COP and Spaceship Earth one more time. I’d like to see them again, but who knows if they’ll still be around… It was really fantastic meeting fellow passporters. I felt really, really bad about missing the first meet at MVMCP, I would have liked to be in Maureen’s sig photo. But, I did make the second one and it was great, and it was a pleasant surprise to run into the group as we entered the park that night. Thanks to them for letting Jan tag along on those rides I cannot do and she likes to do… You guys are fantastic!!! I’m looking forward to meeting many passporters in the future… As usual, the weather was predictably unpredictable. We rolled with the flow and carried a variety of clothing. We took lots of pictures, roughly 2000 between the two of us. We have lots of memories from this trip, including the brochures and other stuff we collected. We certainly hope you enjoyed the photos we shared in this report… And we got another batch of Disney pins to add to our collection, as well as a number of pressed pennies to add to my collection. All in all, it was a good trip. We’ll go back again and again and again!!! Thanks for reading about our little Christmas Jaunt to The World. And thanks for all the support and good comments on the report!!! Until next time, remember… Don’t just remember the magic, take it home with you!!! And SMILE !!!! It makes people wonder what you’re up to |
