| Re: Holiday Hijinx at the World! Updated 2/6/05!! Finally getting caught up again, Maureen! Great updates!! And another thing we have in common- a great for the Poly!!!! I stayed there for the first time this past Sept, and I fell in love with the place before we even got out of the car ![]() Your pics of the Poly are delicious! I can't wait to return there. sigh. okay, here are some details on the penguin "encounter". Dh and I spent a day at Seaworld when we honeymooned at WDW. Seaworld has an exhibit called 'Pengiun Encounter'. If you go during one of the scheduled feeding times, a "CM" (??) presnents some general information on penguins. At the end of the presentation, they ask a question to the audience. The first person to raise their hand and give the correct answer gets to go behind the scenes and hold a penguin!! Well, of course I raised my hand, and they picked me!!!! Dh and I got to go back to the pengiun habitat and pet all sorts of pengiuns (including Emperors- my fave)and then I got to hold a little Rockhopper named Shanghai (not Bert ). He was so cute and sweet, and didn't mind my holding him at all. It was a dream come true.I highly recommend Seaworld to all pengiun lovers!! Oh, and on a recent trip to Disneyland we got to meet Mary Poppins, Bert (the man, not the penguin ) and Bert told us that the penguins name is "tom". But Bert is a really cute name for a pengiun! Thanks for the great trip report, Maureen!! Can't wait to read more! Sheesh, sorry this response was so long! ![]() |

| Re: Holiday Hijinx at the World! Thread 2 of 2- New! As we made our way back towards BCV, we decided to split up for a bit, with Chez and Mark heading off for a swim at Stormalong Bay. Kevan and I were really up for more of EPCOT with the original plan being to head back to Japan and points nearby. We headed to Japan just in time to see our favorite performance group- Matsuritza- they are so awesome! I think I have seen them every time the past 4 or 5 trips and I never tire of hearing their terrific drum performances! After browsing in Mitsukoshi and exploring the gardens, we both felt like heading towards Germany. On the way, I felt the need to sample a funnel cake. Yummy. We don’t explore Germany that often. When we got there, Kevan headed into Dar Teddybar to check out the toys for the kids and I went to Glas und Porzellain. I finished first and headed back to find Kevan to discover that he had found some really cool knights and horse statuettes- they had a whole collection out. We picked up a few of those as we thought it might be a neat collection for Dad and the boys- and I have already been ordered to pick up more when I go on my May trip! After, it was time to head back and we just enjoyed the walk. It was on this walk that we really commented how it was hard at times to see things and think about the kids- that Matthew would love this, Katie would love that, etc. Kevan had put a moratorium on trips for the next year but I think I convinced him that sooner was better than later. We sort of left it at that and before we knew it we were at the Villas. As we made our way down the hallway, Cheryl and Mark approached us and told us they had asked to switch rooms due to smoke- and that the new room would be ready around 4:00. They had packed up our suitcases- which I felt awful about as we had quite a bit of stuff in it. In the meantime, they did want to head to Stormalong and we decided to go with them- even if we didn’t swim. Kevan and I parked ourselves at the sitting area a staircase above the bridge. There was some rehab going on to the lazy river portion of the pool and that was disappointing- Lynn and I really enjoyed that section in June. However, I doubted I would be swimming anyway. As Cheryl and Mark went off, I asked Kevan if he was up for a drink and he was- so I went in search of Hurricane Hanna’s- which was practically around the corner. I got a daiquiri and Kevan had a Myers Rum and Coke. We relaxed and I dozed at one point. That’s me- I can sleep pretty much anytime and anywhere- with the exception of on a plane! Cheryl and Mark joined us later and also got some drinks as well- and we just spent awhile talking and taking in the views. Kevan works on the drink... ![]() About 4:00- we headed back to the front desk to see about the room, The agent could not tell if it was ready or not- so she went to the room to check on it herself. After what seemed like a long wait- she returned- and it was indeed! We went up to the new one and Cheryl quickly showered- we had the Candlelight Processional at 5 pm. Cheryl was the fastest walker at this point and she ran up ahead to save us seats. I was getting pretty tired in terms of overall stamina at this point- so I just couldn’t keep up. We got there about 5 or 6 minutes after her- and our seats were fairly good. We very much enjoyed the Candlelight Processional- it was incredibly moving and very much reminded you of what Christmas is all about. The narrator for this performance was Steven Curtis Chapman and I thought he was very good. Coming Up Next: See? Finding Nemo! |
