| Holiday Hijinx at the World! 2/20/05 Shopping Saturday, December 18, 2005 I begged Kevan not to even bother with an alarm as we were so tired from our late night. He slept until about 8:00 and was packing up as I woke up around 8:30. We hurried getting ready for the day and were out the door by 9:00. We wanted to spend some time doing more wandering and photo taking of our beloved special place. Here are some of those Polynesian pictures I promised a few installments ago: View from our room in Tokelau I hate that my eyes are closed but love the scenery! Both of us were rather hungry so we took a stroll over to Captain Cook’s for a light breakfast. Kevan had a breakfast bagel and I had a cup of fruit along with a juice box. The total came to $11.59 and was your average stuff- it fit the bill just fine. We took our food out to the terrace to eat and were joined by lots of ducks who got absolutely nothing from us- we finished all of our breakfast and had none to spare. Sorry fellas! Back into the Great Ceremonial House for a final inspection of the stores- out of all of them, News from Polynesia- on the first floor, has got to be our favorite. Not only can you find all the Polyneisan logo items here but you can get the kitschy stuff- like the Hula Girls for your car and ugly tiki mugs. I was browsing on one side and when I made my way over to see what Kevan had been eyeing up- he was smiling like a little kid! Turns out, he had found a Hawaiian print shirt with little pictures of the Polynesian all over it- in a size to fit. He’s a big guy so this really meant a lot to him to be able to have something he could wear and it looked sensational. I found a really cute short sleeve shirt with the Polynesian logo on it so we took those things to the register. I didn’t even look at Kevan’s shirt’s price tag because honestly, he was so happy I would have paid whatever they asked. When the CM informed me the total was $38.54- I asked if he had missed something and he hadn’t. Turned out- both shirts were on a clearance for 50% off!! ![]() When we left News from Polynesia, we headed upstairs to take another look at Trader Jacks but there was nothing there that caught our eye. As we made our way back downstairs, they were beginning some hula lessons and lei making right there in the lobby- if we had more time I would have joined in- I would love to learn some Hawaiian dancing- and all the folks participating clearly looked like they were having a ball! We also caught the gingerbread display and it was incredible. We headed back to the room to get the bags and make our way back to check out. Because I had not left the credit card number for charging- I was not able to do Express Checkout- which was fine. The CM and I had a lovely conversation about our stay. The issue of the server at Kona did come up. I didn’t think he would take any interest but did he ever- he listened to the whole story, looked up our PS number and took some other information with assurances he would be passing it on to both the General Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager. Again, the service at the Polynesian with the exception of the server at Kona, was some of the best I have come to have at Disney. I have never, ever had anything less than wonderful stays here and I will come back again and again. I always leave wondering when we will be back.. (there's an answer for that..stay tuned!) We took the bags outside and the valet flagged a taxi. It was a short ride to the Beach Club. We stored the bags with Bell Services and had a look around at the Christmas decorations as we were a few minutes early before we were supposed to meet Chez and Mark. Coming Up Next: Kevan and Mark like the lunchtime entertainment... |
