| Celebrating at Disney World 2/24-3/2 Cast: Pockets – Connie, Planner & Scribe of the adventure Phil – DH, Thinks PS, Tours, etc. happen by magic The Back Story: My hubby and I have birthdays that are 5 days apart. We always celebrate them together on a date between the two dates. This year we decided to celebrate them with a trip to Disney World (actually I asked if we could and Phil agreed before I could complete the question). It will be just the two of us. We usually take friends and/or family with us to Disney but not this time. Pre-trip Planning: Since we did not conceive of this trip until January 9th just 46 days before my birthday, I had to get moving on the reservations. We are DVC members so first I called to see if we could get a studio or one bedroom villa at the Beach Club. We had stayed there one other time and liked the resort. Our back up resort was the Boardwalk. We have not stayed at the Boardwalk but will no doubt try it out on another visit. Phil likes the EPCOT resorts because it is an easy walk to his two favorite parks. We were very lucky and got a one bedroom at the Beach Club. Now for airfare…we both had credit vouchers on Delta or Delta’s Song from our trip to Disney in November. I was hoping to use those to pay for or at least help pay for our airfare. Again we were lucky with the credit vouchers our flights will cost us $21.10 each. We will make one stop (usually we select non-stop flights) but at that price who could refuse! Two down, now for PS and tee times. I managed to snag a reservation at Victoria and Albert’s for the night of my birthday. It will be the big celebration for both of us. V & A is Phil’s favorite restaurant. I also get PS for Jiko for the night of Phil’s birthday. In addition, we have PS for two character breakfasts (Cape May and Donald’s). Tee times proved more difficult. I was able to schedule a tee time for the 9 hole practice course (Oak Trails) but could not get a tee time for Eagle Pines (first choice) until 7 days before we want to play. The good news is we will not need to bring our golf clubs. A new DVC perk allows DVC members complimentary use of the course’s golf clubs. The course’s club selection (Callaway or Titlest) is better than what I own!! I’m not sure I can play with really good clubs. WARNING small woodland animals and alligators BEWARE she has never used these clubs before and she is left-handed!!! HIDE!!!!!!! As a birthday present for Phil I have booked the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. He has always wanted to see the Utilidors. The rest of the time is unscheduled. We plan on doing a few of our favorite rides, lay by Stormalong Bay and have a few Bay Smashes, and maybe tackle the Kitchen Sink. We have Annual Passes (which we used for our 10 day trip in November), our resort stay is on DVC points so our initial outlay of cash is $143.20 [$42.20 for two tickets, $50 the DDE card and $54 for breakfast vouchers (thanks Connears)]. While we do have a couple of expensive dinners scheduled, we have Disney Reward Dollars for the other meals. This could be the least expensive trip to Disney World I have ever planned. Now I wonder if I can get a good price on a rental car? |

| Re: Celebrating at Disney World 2/24-3/2 What a fantastic - - and inexpensive trip! I can't wait to hear about the restaurants -- and the trip as a whole. I wasn't aware of the DVC perk about loaning golf clubs. I'll have to let DH know about that. Jill |

[/ QUOTE ] It is something new that expires in April. For golfers it is a great perk. If like me you find traveling with your clubs problematic. Pockets |
