| The Freeman Disney Christmas - THREAD 2 of 2 - Updated 4/9/05 COMPLETED! This is Thread 2 of 2 - for the first thread click HERE Day 8 - Thursday 23rd December: Downtown Disney Marketplace then back to the 50s ![]() Thursday 23rd After another crappy night’s sleep for me, I dragged hubby out of bed to go to Downtown Disney. We were parked in Marketplace by 9.20. We went to World of Disney first to see if they had the purple monorail set, which they did. Hubby bought it for me as a Christmas present I also bought a Winter 2004 surprise pin featuring Chip n Dale. We got to the till only to discover that we’d both forgotten our Annual Passes – doh! We were very lucky though as the CM who served us gave us the 10% off anyway – thank you!!!Next stop was Disney At Home. I bought some Mickey shaped egg rings and some shaped candles. Then it was time to send some postcards home from the Wonderful World of Memories shop. I also bought a castle punch, some Mickey edged scissors and some eyelets for scrapbook pages. I snapped some photos from the ceiling here - I'd never noticed them before. I then popped into the Pin Trading shop so I could buy a pin folder and the First Day of Winter 2004 pin that had been released the day before. We were both hungry so we went into the Earl of Sandwich for a ham and cheese hot sandwich and some lime diet coke. Delicious! I’d heartily recommend breakfast here. We next hit Once Upon a Toy where hubby bought some extra track for my monorail set, the Walt Disney World sign kit and a Mickey Mouse 75th anniversary edition of Monopoly – woohoo! All the packages were sent back to the hotel. Back to the hotel we went. It was very muggy today but cloudy so we decided what the heck, let’s go in the pool. I love the 50s bowling pin pool, it’s really cute. There were only 2 kids in it. The water was so warm it was like stepping into a bath. We spent a good hour in the pool getting nice and wrinkly before heading back to our room to dry and change. It was 1pm so we decided to go to the food court. Hubby had the meatball sub and I had the cheese steak wrap again. We had a wander round Everything Pop where hubby bought me a purple tie-dyed Tinkerbell t-shirt plus fridge magnets for his mum. Then it was back to the room for a much needed rest. coming up in Part 2: MGM Studios and Fantasmic! Annabel |

| The Freeman Disney Christmas - THREAD 2 of 2 - Updated 3/4/05 Day 8 Part 2 [b]Day 8 Part 2 - More MGM! We woke up around 4pm and headed to MGM Studios. We drove and were quite annoyed at where they directed us to park, it was miles away near the very back. During our tram ride to the entrance, we saw tons of empty rows and spaces - why do they do that Anyway, once in the park we first headed for Hollywood & Vine to see if we could get a table. Amazingly enough, we only had to wait 5 minutes – the restaurant was more than half empty. Hubby tucked into the smoked sausages and roast Yukon potatoes. I had some bread with bleu cheese and bacon butter, some rice, mashed potato and a huge helping of the lovely turkey pot roast. Delicious! For seconds, I got some more pot roast while hubby got more potatoes and sausages and he tried some mash. For dessert, hubby had some mascarpone snickers cheesecake while I had a spoonful of 3 berry cobbler, a mini carrot cake and a pecan diamond. Yum! The total cost came to $48. Another excellent meal here, this has to be one of our favourite buffets ![]() Upon leaving, we decided to make our way up to the hat. The street looked wonderful in the dusk. I had a quick look in the pin station so I could buy the LE MGM Christmas 2004 pin Next, I went to investigate Voyage of the Little Mermaid. There were no fast passes left and a show was due to start in 10 minutes. There was only a tiny queue so I joined it and hubby went to see if he could get a go on Rock n Roller Coaster. The theatre for Mermaid was half empty. I enjoyed the show as always and blubbed at the end. I made my way to the Hollywood Hills ampitheatre to meet hubby for Fantasmic, snapping some photos along the way. I found hubby sat outside waiting for me. He’d had no luck with Rock n Roller Coaster. There were no fastpasses and the queue was 65 minutes long We joined the Fantasmic queue, which was huge, and eventually got some seats. It took us about 20 minutes but it seemed longer. We bought some soda and I got one of those light sticks you join at the end and wore it round my neck ![]() Fantasmic started on time at 8.30. I love this show! My favourite bit is when all the characters go round the lake on the boat. Hubby recorded it for me as well. As we were leaving the theatre, a voice over said that Osbourne Lights were still open so we decided to investigate. Hubby took these fab photos of the window displays at the Villains shop - that's my favourite ![]() We made our way towards the Streets of New York, passing Star Wars. no dearest, you can't buy one of these! Yes, all the lights were still switched on but we weren’t allowed to view them. They had a blockade of CMs saying it was shut. So why were we just told we could see them? They were adamant that the Lights shut at 8.30. We weren’t the only ones who heard the voice over, other people arrived after us. I don’t understand that one but what can you do. Talk about a waste of time ![]() Dejected, we walked back to the entrance and took this cool photo of the Sci-Fi Diner on the way: We made it on to the 4th tram. We trekked back to the car and headed to Pop Century, where we followed our usual routine – drinks in the bar, That 70s Show for an hour then bed – although tonight we also watched Seinfeld, Just Shoot Me and Becker before going to bed. coming up in Day 9 - it's Xmas Eve and my, Gary Sinise looks tiny from over here! Annabel ![]() |
