| Re: Using My Powers for Good - 4/29-5/7 - Day 4 - Part 2a2 Great updates and thanks to Bob and Calder for your input You won't get me on Summit Plummit - I'll be standing at the bottom with the camera in hand like last time Whenever I ask DH if he'll go on SP again, one minute it's yes, then another time it's no way - we shall see! Great report, looking forward to more! |

| Re: Using My Powers for Good - 4/29-5/7 - Day 4 - Part 3 <u>Day Four – May 2nd – Part 3</u> I was sleeping the sleep of the righteous – well, the righteously *tired* – when this huge, loud, terrible knocking and banging started on my door. I thought, “God, no! Somebody’s been hurt!! I never should’ve encouraged them to go on Summit Plummet!” I threw back the covers and rushed for the door. Swinging it open, I expected to see blood, destruction, mayhem…. Something…. Nope, it’s Michael. He wanted to know if he beat Calder back to the room. Well, Michael was *about* to see blood, destruction, mayhem…. I HATE being shaken out of sleep in a panic! Luckily, Bob walked up at that moment and said, “Michael, tell me you didn’t just wake her up!! Oh, buddy! You’re in for it now!”Once again, my DHs sense of humor was infectious and I quickly shifted gears and cracked a smile – albeit a brief, slightly stiff smile. I was, after all, still 85% asleep! But Michael walked away unscathed from the encounter and that’s all the really matters! Everyone else showed up then and wanted to head to Downtown Disney – and they were HUNGRY!! The two groups divided so they could change out of their swimsuits and back into regular clothes. I took a moment to grab some stuff (but… not everything, as you’ll see in a bit!) and the kids were ready in a few minutes. Donna and Frank were just then having their first chance to get dressed – having three boys to dress first can really slow ya down! Bob and I offered to take the kids to the dock to give F&D a moment to get ready. We headed out and wandered around the grounds of Riverside a bit, hoping to find some duck food. For some reason, this whole trip was a bust for the duck food dispensers. I can’t imagine Disney not keeping them filled regularly (especially with the press all coming to the two Port Orleans resorts), but we never found dispensers with any food in them. I kept thinking there must be some obsessed kid with a huge bag of quarters and a long trail of satisfied ducks around him. As we got up to the marina, a boat was just pulling away towards DTD. Well, we wouldn’t’ve made it anyway and F&D weren’t in sight… it gave us 20 minutes to wait, but it was a pleasant wait. We grabbed seats by the docks and Bob filled me in on the Summit Plummet experience. I laughed as hard then as I did just a minute ago when I read his contribution to the trip report. Just as we heard the next boat motoring up the canal, F&D came around the corner of the food court and we waved them down to us at the marina. They had timed it perfectly, because we walked right onto the boat and it took off. It stopped at POFrench Quarter and we all marveled at Scales the Sea Serpent. (We never did make it back, though, and Calder is gunning for POFQ to be our next resort!) We wound our way down the canal and saw the Treehouses – our captain gave the same spiel about how they are now on protected land so they won’t be fixed up. At the golf courses, Frank commented that we had to get my dad on this boat ride – it might make WDW more appealing to see the golf courses. (Actually, my dad’s played on two of them in the past and really liked them, but not enough to want to go to WDW “again”… <sigh> When we passed Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, I started the first of my forays into the “hard sell” on Disney Vacation Club to my DH. He was having none of it… (By the end of the trip, everyone – including the kids – would say “DVC” in a sing-song voice to Bob when we passed a property or sign! But, it never seemed to work.) We arrived at the DTD dock and made a bee-line for the Earl of Sandwich – everyone was STARVED! Calder knew that he wanted another warm and toasty PB&J and I wanted to try Annabel’s recommendation of Le Frenchy (ham with creamy French brie and dijonaise sauce). Bob also ordered a PB&J – and I must’ve given him a surprised look because he firmly repeated the PB&J order and then added “AND an Earl’s Club!” (Which had roast turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato) We had forgotten to bring bottled water with us so we ended up blowing $5 on water and Calder got a Powerade. (Total $26.95 – I’ve since learned that EOS has a discount for AAA members. ) And thank goodness EOS takes the Disney room key card since neither Bob nor I brought our regular credit cards with us. In fact, I didn’t even have my big touring bag with me – having loved using the lanyard pouch during my KTTK tour, I had a hard time giving it up!We grabbed two tables outside and dug in. My Frenchy was fantastic and ooey-gooey!! Annabel, girl… you have GREAT taste!! Calder ate his PB&J in record time. Bob was only a moment behind with finishing his Earl’s Club – although, he said that he didn’t like it as much as The Original we’d had in November. He and I each took a half of the PB&J and then I ended up splitting my section with Calder, who was still hungry! (Guess those water parks make kids ravenous!) The Esterles had salads and sandwiches and were very impressed with it all. <Up next: Shop til you drop, literally!> |

He did answer one question that I had about Blizzard Beach - - everytime our bus to AK has stopped there on the way, I look in amazement at that drop knowing in my rational mind that people don't actually free fall from that thing. Now I know for sure! ![]() Jill |

| Re: Using My Powers for Good - 4/29-5/7 - Day 4 - Part 2a2 Great update! I agree that at the top of Summit Plummet you can see everything! The wait at the top with the height was worse than the slide itself!! Can't wait to read more, I am laughing reading your report!! |
