Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 With all those great recommendations, I've made a PS for Teppanyaki. And one for the Brown Derby on the Fantasmic package for the night of Kirk's actual birthday. Also a lunch one for Fulton's. A quick question. I don't eat seafood of any kind so does Fulton's have other options for landlubber types like me? I'd never even thought of Fresh - the idea of doing a brunch there really appeals to me. Now I still have to choose one or two character meals for my character-loving son and perhaps even surprise him with a tour. I think the Segway one is probably the one he'd get the biggest kick out of. I'll just have to make sure I don't run over any innocent bystanders - I'm a total klutz at the best of times. Joy

Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 Joy, I've just checked out the Fulton's lunch menu on Deb Wills' site from this month, so it's right bang up to date. OK, so the vast majority on it is fish orientated, but there are some other choices. I'm sure when we last went there with Denise (wdwlovers) and her mom that one of them didn't have seafood, although I can't recall 100% now. I know we all enjoyed what we got and I'm sure they'd be able to cater for you. I'm so glad to hear you're doing Teppanyaki and the Brown Derby as your Fantasmic package - what a great trip this is shaping up to be! ![]()

Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 A little update on what's happening with plans for Kirk's birthday surprise trip. I've booked the Cape May Cafe for a character breakfast for the morning of his birthday as I figured that was probably the closest character meal to MGM and we did have a great time there last December. Since Kirk loves the Disney characters so much, I did make a PS for the Crystal Palace for lunch as well. Winnie and the gang are particular favorites of Kirk's. And there is a certain donkey there that I'm rather partial to myself. ![]() When it comes to the Star Wars themed scavenger hunt, I keep coming up blank on ways to pull that one off since it will be just me down there with him and I don't see how I'd be able to get away long enough to lay down all the clues, etc. So I've e-mailed Gifts of a Lifetime as I figure they probably will be the best ones to help me with this plan. When it comes to a WDW tour as a surprise for Kirk, I've narrowed it down to either the Segway tour or the Magic of Steam Trains at the MK. Has anybody done both these tours and can let me know what they think of them? Oh, and I've also added a celebratory dinner at the California Grill as well. It won't be right on Kirk's birthday but this is his favorite WDW restaurant so I thought that we just had to have one meal there. I also toyed with the idea of Victoria and Albert's but Kirk really hates getting too dressed up so I think he would probably enjoy California Grill more. Joy

Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 I'm glad to hear that you've included the Crystal Palace and my donkey! I've just asked Mark, who's done both the Segway tour and the Magic of the Steam Trains tours (in December) and his instant reaction was the Segway tour. He thinks Kirk would get more of a buzz out of that, although he said the steam train tour was good. I hope that helps Joy! ![]()

Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 Well, the pixie dust must really have been blowing northwards today. I got a brainstorm today when I remembered how much Kirk enjoyed eating breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table on our 03 trip. So, even though it was almost noon, I called on the off chance that I might get really lucky. Well, they had nothing for the date I called about but when the CM checked, she found me a ressie for Aug. 5 for 8:05 a.m. That's the day before Kirk's birthday so I grabbed it immediately. It's getting harder and harder to keep this secret from Kirk. Tonight he was moaning at supper about the fact that he's going to be all alone at WDW even on his birthday. He actually asked me if I could possibly set up some Passporter meets for him since he really enjoyed the ones we did last December. I almost choked on my mashed potatoes, then recovered my composure quickly so I could reply, "Sure dear, I'll see what I can do about that for you." It is just so tempting to give in and let him know that he's going to have company after all. But I must remain strong! I have to keep thinking about how surprised and happy he's going to be when he walks into the lobby of POFQ and there I am. I was planning on trying to arrange some Passporter meets for August anyways so now I'll simply have to let Kirk think the plans are just for him and whomever I find on the boards who is going to be down there then and is interested in meeting up. This is getting more complicated by the minute. ![]() Joy
