| Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 10 I want to thank all of you guys so much for your encouragement about not caving in and revealing the secret. You have no idea how much it helps to have all of you in my corner.  Cheryl, I took Mark's advice and went for the Segway tour instead of the trains one. I figure I'll leave the trains one for the next trip I take with Kim as he's the true trains nut (he even has a Mickey Mouse train pocket watch complete with train sounds). Now I'm starting to wonder if I should try to arrange some sort of surprise birthday basket to be waiting in our room for Kirk when he checks in. Have any of you guys ever done this and do you have any recommendations on who to order from, etc. Joy |

| Re: Kirk\'s Birthday Trip Surprise - Pre-Trip Report, Updated May 20 A horrible glitch has now loomed in my planning. It's beginning to look like our union at work is going to go on strike and if this happens, both my DH and myself will be without pay for the duration of the strike. The strike vote is next Wednesday so please everyone, send lots of pixie dust my way that this strike doesn't come to fruition. The concensus seems to be that if we do go on strike, it's probably going to be a fairly long one. I've already booked and paid for my airfare for this trip and I have an annual pass and of course Kirk has paid for the room he has booked. So that means my only real expense while down there would be meals, etc. but I still wouldn't feel right about putting out extra money when our economic future would be uncertain for a while. I REALLY hope that this strike doesn't happen since I was so looking forward to surprising Kirk. Joy |
