| Re: TroianRae\'s Crazy Adventures in the World - UPDATED 8/7 Yes, now that my computer is cooperating, I can report that Jana and I did finally get to meet over lunch. Although it's hard to really talk at a buffet - too much getting up for your food. And although our table might have been a little quieter, I don't think Joshua ate more than 5 bites! Ah, kids ![]() And yes, we did get to meet up later in the week, although that's way down the road - day 8 for both of our trips! At the rate we're going, you all might get to read about it next month ![]() And just what Mississippi accent are you referring to anyway? It's all you people NOT from the south who talk funny!!! (just kidding - please don't send any mean remarks!!!) |

| Re: TroianRae\'s Crazy Adventures in the World - UPDATED 8/7 [b] <font color="black"> Tuesday, July 5: Day Five - Part One MGM Early EMH and Star Tours............. <font color="blue"> Our wake-up call actually came on time this morning (more on that in a few days ) at 6:03 am. I was tired, but excited about going to MGM for EMH. I woke Nathan up and we both got ready. He's faster in the morning than I am (since he's usually up at 4 am for work) so he was ready first and out the door to POP's food court for mug refills. (He had a pattern down by the end of the trip - he'd get a Coke (he & Benji), a hot chocolate (me), and an apple juice (Troi) in the mornings before we'd leave for the parks. We'd only bought 2 mugs initially, realized with 2 children that we were never going to get anything to drink and so we'd bought an additional mug - I should have just bought 4!! )So Nate went to get our morning drinks while I made sure that I had our bags (video bag and fanny pack) ready to go. I also double-checked that the kids had the "appropriate" clothing out for the day. (I tried to match some of their outfits to what we'd be doing that day.)Yup, it was Crystal Palace for lunch today which meant everyone was in some sort of Winnie the Pooh & Friends t-shirt, or shorts, you get the idea. By this time it was already 6:40 am and we had to be out of the room at 7 so as to be at the bus stop and make one of the first buses!! Nate came back, we woke up both kids, Benji rolls out of bed and wakes up, Troian started screaming and didn't want to get up!! Boy was she at us!! But we were able to coax her out of bed, into her clothes, and into her stroller (chocolate poptarts do the trick! ) a little after 7 am. By that time, I'm already frazzled!! But we keep on a-going.We made it to the bus stop about 7:15 or so and got onto the first bus that came. It helped that we were the first people in line waiting for the bus!! (As the line got longer and longer waiting for the bus, Nate finally realized WHY we had had to be there SO early. He may be slowly learning to to me. ) We made it to MGM nice and early; in fact we were able to be the first people in one of the turnstile lines. And they actually let us in a little early!! The race began!! Okay, WE didn't really race, but I saw some people really hot-footing towards Tower of Terror and RnR. We speedily hurried towards Star Tours; Benji didn't enjoy the pace, but Troian was riding in the stroller so she was having fun! We made it to Star Tours where it was a 5 minute walk-on; we had already decided that we were going to do the child-swap and notified the CM inside of it. He was VERY helpful and told us EXACTLY what do and HOW to do the switch. He was a very nice and patient man!! (More on that in a few..........) So I was in the next to go group while Nate waited his turn when Benji starts freaking that he's NOT going to ride it and Nate kept telling him that he WASN'T going to ride it. I was just happy to finally load into the simulator! I was a little apprehensive about being locked into the "car", but I knew that I wanted to try the ride again (I hadn't ridden it since 1992). Our nice and friendly CM does his little spiel and trys to shut the doors. It turns out that after he had initially shut the first set of doors, one of the previous riders had come back up the back hallway towards the ride and it disabled the ride. He tried to reset it again; still NO luck!! He got on the phone to try to figure out what was going on and why someone kept tripping the disable. It turns out that a lady who had just ridden it had forgotten her backpack and instead of contacting a CM, she just re-entered the ride from where she had exited, thereby shutting down the ride (this is all according to our CM). So, kindly, he instructed us all to NOT re-enter the ride through the area marked NO RE-ADMITTANCE!!! We had by this time been sitting in the ride itself for over 10 minutes; I was getting a little annoyed but the carefree attitude of the CM certainly helped alleviate my annoyance. After our ride we dis-embarked and I had to go get the kids and let Nathan have his turn. His turn went a lot quicker than mine did!!! Thank God!! I really couldn't have taken anymore drama from the kids by that point. SIDENOTE: While I was waiting for Nate, the lady that had lost her backpack re-entered the ride through the exit AGAIN and finally got her backpack. They asked her to please re-enter the line through the front next time!!!! to those CM's for keeping their cool and staying polite throughout this ordeal at 8:05 am!!!! ![]() Next up: Muppets 3D and Crystal Palace |
