Pre-Trip Background

We knew that we were going to go back this year as soon as we got home last year from WDW. We had had such a miserable trip that I told my husband to give me several months and I'd be ready to plan going back. While we were down there in May/June 2004, I had a cavity abcess on me, I had already pulled some tendon in my foot the morning we left for WDW, and I seemed to catch some stomach bug when we got down to Florida. Needless to say, I did NOT have the most enjoyable trip. I couldn't walk, couldn't eat, and didn't want to eat what I could eat. We raced home from Florda, and I ended up having emergency dental surgery. They ended up pulling 3 teeth (the abcessed wisdom tooth and my other two wisdom teeth) since they had to put me under anyway. So that's the NOT a great trip.

By September I was ready to plan our trip; I was actually ready to go back. My mom was plannig on going down to the Destin area for some meetings so we decided to go with and make it over to Orlando. Guess what?? Mother Nature intervened; Florida kept having hurricanes hit them. I figured we'd be good to go, but at the last minute, my mom refused to let us go because of the kids and took off without us. (Sidenote - she got down there and they evacuted where she was staying so she had to turn around and come back home.)

So, I dealt with that as best I could and threw all my energy into planning our 2005 trip. We decided to go over the 4th of July and Nate's 32nd birthday to utilize some built in vacation days. I then researched and found a TA in October of 2004, and I thought we'd be good to go. As time went on (by January 2005), I realized that I did not have a good TA at all so I turned to the passporter boards for advice and they helped immensely!!! () I was very fortunate that Maureen agreed to take us on. She made our hotel reservations and all of our PS/AR's for us with such ease; it was amazing. ( Maureen!!!!)

I had already started looking through the Checking Your Itinerary forum and realized that a lot of Passporters were going to be down there while we were. So I posted about setting up some meets and PM'd some people so they knew that I'd started a post about July meets. Things really started to come together then. Christiejay contacted me, and we set up a meet. ( Christie!!) Then I heard from tinksmom (Tenya), SharonK5027(Sharon), and some others, so we set up a Ghiradelli's meet for July 12.(Sidenote: We're up to 18+ people with Passporters and their families.) Then buzzspal2 (Tammy) contacted me a few weeks ago about any meets after 7/12, so we set up a Spectromagic meet for 7/13; now we've added several more people and several other possibles to that meet.

Then ANNABEL started posting that she might be going to WDW. I kept thinking that it would be really great if her trips dates coincided in any way with ours. So I started posting on her threads, trying to keep up with her process on deciding if she was going to go. After many anxious hours, Annabel finally posted that she was going - then I had to get her to tell me WHEN she was going. July 7-14 she posted. I screamed (and I do mean screamed); I was so excited. DH came running into my office to see what was up since he knew that was an excited scream; he took one look at my face and said "I take it Annabel's going when we are??" Such a smart man!! I was just bobbing my head up and down, speechless. I knew that I had to see if she would be able to come to one of the meets we'd scheduled - good news, she was in for Ghiradelli's. Next I invited her to meet me for tea; I knew from her posts that she wanted to have tea and I was going alone so why not go together?? So we're on for tea - YEAH!!

So now I'm down to the last 29 days.............waiting to go to Walt Disney World. The suitcases are mostly packed; I've been packing since January (okay I'm strange, I know it). I've been collecting quarters and pennies for the pressed pennies. I've redone our schedule multiple times, even just over the weekend due to some changes in EMH days/nights. I'm still buying DH some new tshirts; for some reason, he has less clothes than the rest of us do. I even had to start packing his clothes in his own suitcase because I took an entire suitcase just for me. Oh well.

In the meantime, I've been keeping busy reading all the wonderful trip reports that have come out in the last few weeks; they will sustain me until it's my turn to enjoy the magic.

Thanks for the kind words! Congrats on the upcoming birthday!! July is a good month - DH is the 13th and I'm the 25th.

I hope you're be able to come to the Ghiradelli's and/or Spectromagic meet; it will be fun to meet everyone. I've got a thread going to the Backyard Forum about the July meets, which I keep updated for everyone.
Hope to see you there..............

Re: TroianRae\'s crazy adventures in the World PreTrip Report

More PreTrip Report 6.3.05 Part 1

Well, after putting an additional $1100+ into our van today, we're getting closer to being ready for WDW. (And a lot poorer after today.) Plus I'm still shopping for our trip and picking up odds and ends - more diaper wipes, more Disney Pez dispensers, more Color Wonder markers and coloring books, and more. A 17-day trip with two kids always means I have to have a little bit of everything with us.

Benji is keeping me entertained though; he keeps telling people we're going to Pop Century in 3 days. He knew yesterday was 30 days so he thinks the 0 doesn't count which makes it 3 days. Plus he's constantly asking to see pictures of Pop Century!!! I started all this by showing him Annabel and Andy's Pop Century pictures last year; had I known that he would want to see these pictures multiple times daily I don't know that I would have shown him the first one. (Yeah, I probably still would have.) So I've loaded them into a folder on the office computer so that he can just go and get his Pop Century fix, but now he wants to look at them on my laptop (stupid me, my desktop is a picture of Pop Century's front sign). That kid is too smart!!

I'm also still working on finalizing our daily itineraries; I'm trying to sort through all the EMH's and the AR/PS's so I know we're in the right place at the right time. I'll add that info to this pre-trip report as soon as I've got it ready. I've been busy adding the info from my wipe board to my passpockets; thank goodness for that wipe board - dry erase is a wonderful thing!! (I came across a 16x20, maybe bigger, dry-erase wipe board at a garage sale earlier this spring - for $.50)

Gotta go for now!! I'll try to add the daily itineraries tomorrow.

Sounds like everything is coming along! I like Benji's way of thinking! We're almost down to 100 days. If only those 2 zero's didn't count!
