| Re: Super Summer Softball Extravaganza-Day 1-7/25 Final Thoughts July 2005 Well, my first thought about this trip is never, ever again in July. But it seems to be like child birth where I’ve forgotten the worst of it, if someone offered to take me, I’d go. I wouldn’t fork over my hard earned cash for a July trip again, though. We saw so many un-Disney like and encountered many unfamily like situations. If I hadn’t just been there in November 2004, I might think it was like that all the time, and really wonder what all the hype was about! I wrote to Walt Disney World regarding their smoking policy. People were smoking all the time everywhere we were. Just walking along, not in the designated smoking areas in the parks. Even at some of the outdoor eating areas. I never once saw a CM speak to someone about smoking in the appropriate area. I’ve seen people being politely directed many times at Disneyland, so I was quite surprised. There also needs to be designated smoking areas at the resorts. Several times out at the pool we could not get away from it, even at the baby pool, and that’s just not okay for our children’s health. I was also disturbed by our encounter with drug use and many drunken people at the pool at night. We quit using the pool at night because of it, and when I approached the management, they told me drinking was allowed and didn’t even check into it. Just not the family atmosphere I expect at WDW. (And I’m certainly not opposed to a margarita by the pool, but glass containers and stumbling, swearing drunkards are another thing!) All that aside, we had some very magical moments. The one that stands out is our Wishes Cruise! That was absolutely wonderful, and so much fun! We did a lot of sit down restaurants this trip (thanks to DDE), and had some fabulous meals. The Cobb salad at Brown Derby is simply to die for. In fact, we didn’t have a single bad meal (with the exception of our pre-pukey ones). We tried lots of new eateries as well. Hallie saw Piglet so many times I lost count! She got more character autographs than ever before, and completely filled up her book! Accidentally meeting up with Dave Marx and the whole Marx family the next day was certainly memorable…now I’m having trouble narrowing down all our experiences, but we really had some fun! We rented a car this time (had to, for softball) and it wasn’t as much fun or as relaxing as being toted around by Disney transportation, if fact claiming and hauling our luggage in the Florida heat sold me on DME pretty quickly. I’d happily stay at a value resort again. Pop was fantastic! Our room was super clean, big enough, and the air conditioning was fabulous. We totally used housekeeping with all our illness, and they were quick and courteous about even cleaning the carpet more than once. When Jack’s little friend came up missing, they diligently looked for him, and even sent us a postcard about a month later letting us know they couldn’t find Little Penguin, but would send him along if he turned up! Kudos to the great staff there. We’d only stayed at the Poly before, and found Pop to be superior in many ways. The food court was efficient and had lot’s of choices, the room was clean (we had some issues with cleanliness at the Poly), and Pop was only a fraction of the cost! (A small fraction for sure!) It had a very Disney feel. Thanks to everyone for reading my trip report—I’ll be back with our Disneyland adventures in December! ![]() |

| Re: Super Summer Softball Extravaganza-Day 1-7/25 OMG Jana! How could I forget my first Passporter meet?! It was fantabulous, and certainly a highlight of the trip for me! In fact, I plan to take my best friend there in January! Maybe, I'll try hot tea this time...and strawberries and cream...and no kids, or husbands...sigh |

| Re: Super Summer Softball Extravaganza-Day 1-7/25 Thank you for a wonderful trip report. I hope that my dd's softball team gives us an excuse to go to Disney some day. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy July in WDW. After having 2 October trips I too worried about a July trip but with dd in 5th grade and school work being harder and harder to make up we decided to try a July trip in 2005 and I must say I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I hope you have a better atmoshere next trip. |

Well, I've never been through childbirth, but I hear you always forget about any pain very soon after. That's what our trip was like! While we were there, there were some moments when I was just like, "I will, never, ever, ever come to Orlando in the Summer again." It was HOT, and people were really acting like animals. Well, guess what? That's right... we have a trip planned for next July! I miss WDW and Universal Studios, and if July is the only time we can go next year, then July it is! Loved the TR, thanks for sharing! |
