[ QUOTE ] Anyway, I sprint through the runners and the crowd (cheering as I go so as not to look like a bad sport)and we make our way to Spaceship Earth. I love it, but I can't help but think about the Passporter who got stuck in the ride for two hours. I just know that's happen to us. It doesn't, as it were. [/ QUOTE ] Waiting for more! Sorry about Jason's Grandmother. ![]() |

| Re: Our Laid-Back, Completely-Stuffed-with-Free-Food Trip Report! MONTHS later...Inspired to finish! First off. Let me apologize with all sincerity. You all wrote such sweet things about my little ol' report and then I just left you hangin'. I suck. Really. Now, let me get started again and then if I desert you again, you may contact the other Melanie, aka JoyJoy. She has my address and you can hunt me down. OK. Dear Lord, help me remember all this stuff!!! DAY THREE (I think): My sweet momma and daddy have left me to go back home. I'm such a bad daughter, too. I complained all night about their snoring until Mom finally told me to shut it because I could sleep all day and they had to get up at dawn. Fine. Sometime around dawn-ish, she and daddy-o kiss me goodbye. I'm asleep and only later do I realize and regret that I didn't even get my rear out of bed to help them or anything. Aargh at me. Anyway, I have no idea what time I finally got up, but I was dressed before my company showed up, which is always good. My company is Mrs. Hipskind. She's the mom of one of our friends in Little Rock and this will be our second Disney adventure together. We met once before to spend a day in the MK when I was in Florida for a conference, back when I was a business woman in the business world like Regina Phalange. I had an extra lunch voucher, so we got a little something at the Pop Century lunch place. And I'm sure it was kind of delicious. Our plan for the day is to go to Disney Quest, because I got a free ticket through, I don't know, whatever ticket agency Mousesavers told me to use. I had no high hopes for Disney Quest because I hate video games. Blech. After lunch, we head over to the shuttle stop to wait and wait and wait and WAIT for a stinkin' bus to get us where we wanted to go. I swear to you, I will drive the 18 hours to Disney from now on. I spent more time waiting on shuttles on this trip than I would have in the car driving from Arkansas to Florida and back. Anyway, we get to DD and head on over to DQ. And I was genuinely surprised! The Genie from Aladdin is on some screen in the elevator to blast you off to the main area, so that was cute. Then we began. Our first stop was to do the Aladdin thing with the virtual helmets (I mean, the helmets were real, but they made us fly on a carpet). Those helmets hurt me REAL BAD. Torture weapons like the Machine in the Princess Bride. An aside: you gotta read that book, the abriged version by William Goldman. So good. Oh, and also the carpet ride was generally sucky and would impress no one. I have by now decided that this day is a waste of Mrs. Hipskind's money (but not mine, haha!). We ventured over to some raft ride, also no good. Then we did a Pirates of the Carribean thing. Fair. Then something where I think we were in some sand and then we died. But THEN...we went to the creative area and learned to draw us some Mickey Mouse. And we were hooked. Because after that we wrote a little song in a booth with lyrics about not growing up like "we want to pick our nose in public" and "no cellulite derrierre"! At supper time, we headed over to Fulton's because that's where she wanted to eat. Fine, but I didn't want to spend a Fulton's amount of money (because I'm already spoiled by our free meals), so i just got soup and a salad for $13, and it was quite delicious. After lunch we headed back in time (I just re-read this. We didn't go back in time. We got there in time ) to learn to draw Donald (I should sooooo work as a Disney artist)...and then we did the coolest thing there, or i did because she was chicken. We built and I rode the virtual roller coaster. Now, if you don't know what this is, you're probably like me. I thought it would be like the big screens where you just look like you're on a coaster on some pre-recorded thing. Wrong. You pick the level of scariness that you want, then you pick whether you want to ride through something like the pits of hell or some ice or space or something, but that was months ago, so I don't remember exactly. Then you choose your track and your loops and your dips and what not. Oh, wait, THEN they tell you what level of scariness you've created. Then you name it from two lists of choices. I only remember one of our names: "Jolly O-Matic" just because I thought it was random. Stay with me here, because after that, you get in line so that they can put you in a pod, after they've made you empty your pockets and take off your hair clippies and what not. Then you get buckled up into this deep pod, they SEAL YOU IN, and play your coaster. And YOU flip upside down and you dip and you do all manner of maneuvers and IT ROCKS. I did this again by myself and then I got her on it once. Then we had to leave. All I remember after that is that we bought Mrs. Hipskind a scented nightgown because she forgot hers. It was stinking expensive: $26.63 for this cotton nighty with Minnie holding a cup of coffee. Yikes! Oh my goodness! I forgot to tell you the absolute best part of the entire day!! Since my last trip, I've wanted one of those Mr. Potato Heads with all the Disney parts, so we went to Once Upon a Toy and for $18 you could fill up this box that's probably 6" high and 4" wide. Well, a cast member came over and told me that she was a pro and would help me. That woman got THIRTY-TWO pieces, including his body, stuffed into that box. Amazing. And I love it. It will go in our Disney nursery. That's all for now...my cute little husband just got home from work. But tomorrow...tomorrow we shall continue, as Jason FINALLY arrives in Orlando!! |

I've somehow managed to avoid it so far, but DH took DS our last trip, and DS loved the song thingy, it was something about boys being better than girls . Can't wait to hear more! |
