We got back a few days ago but today is the first day I have had to get on the boards. After catching up on e-mails and voicemails, going thru the mail, unpacking, doing the laundry and dowloading my (ah hem) 879 pictures, here I am!
On Thursday, DH and I got up about 7am to start getting last minute stuff done. We have never had to "close up" a house before since we always rented and never had to worry about things like shutting the water off, etc. We were leaving our house about 9am since we had to drive 90 minutes to my parents and drop off my dog. We had a 1:45pm flight and felt that should give us enough time to get the pooch situated and give Sydney some run around time at Grandma's before heading to JFK (a 25 minute drive from my parents). Well, all was fine until there was a terrible accident on one of the bridges and what should have taken 90 minutes took over 2 1/2 hours !! So we got to my parents around noon and dropped the dog off and jumped back in the car so we could "fly" to JFK and catch our 1:45pm flight. We arrived at the Long Term Parking lot around 12:30 and got to the terminal at 1pm, checked our bags and headed to the gate...only to find the flight was delayed -- it gets better. Not only was the flight delayed but we were flying Song (DH won't fly anymore without the TV) and they switched planes on us and we got stuck with a regular Delta plane. This meant NO TV
We finally left JFK at 3pm and luckily managed to keep Sydney busy on the plane. Sydney doesn't play with clay too often so I make sure and bring it on the plane and it turns out to be a big hit. Before airplanes with TV, DH used to read magazines anytime we traveled but relied on me to bring them onboard. So the funny thing is since there was no TV for DH to watch, he also payed with the clay - I guess you could say I got a 2fer. Here are some pictures of my DH's work.
In just 2 hours and 4 minutes (thank you to the pilot for making awesome time!) we landed in Orlando!! We had decided to use Magical Express mainly because I wanted to experience first hand but of course we did NOT have our luggage tags (what a surprise) so we grabbed our own bags and headed to the transportation area. Got on a bus relatively quick and since it was now about 5:30pm, it was not very busy at all. We were spending the first night at the ASMovies and decided to grab some dinner in the food court when we arrived. After checking in and putting our bags in our room (here is the view from our room)...
(we were in the Fantasia bldg)
We headed over to the food court and filled our bellies. Everything was yummy. By now it was about 7pm so we headed to our room to give the little one a bath and get some rest for a fresh start in the morning.
Sorry I haven't posted yet on this- awesome start! Cant wait for more pictures and hint, hint, even though this is off topic, can I puhhlease have some new house pictures too?? No pressure or anything
Side Note: I am a picture person, a photo enthusiast...call it a passion if you will. I am not great with the writing end of things so I will most likely be taking you thru this trip report via my photos.
Day 2:
After a nice long rest, we woke Sydney up by telling her that Mickey was waiting for her to eat breakfast so she better hurry and get dressed! She was so excited that she jumped out of bed and said “Mommy, get my clothes!” So we grabbed our luggage and dropped it off at Bell Services since we would be checking into the Beach Club later that day. A bus pulled up for Magic Kingdom and we were off to the Contemporary for breakfast at Chef Mickey’s!
Once we arrived at MK we decided to walk over to the Contemporary since it was a beautiful morning and our ADR was not for another 30 minutes. On our way we ran into a "friend" of Sydney’s and spent some time with him:
This little bugger almost made us late! Sydney decided this was her long lost friend Thumper and insisted on watching him in the grass for 15 minutes! Like I said, we were almost late. Once we arrived, we checked in at the podium and we were sat within 5 minutes or so. I love Chef Mickey’s for dinner but had never been there for breakfast so this was a first for us. It was very good but I think I still prefer dinner. Here are some pics:
We then grabbed the bus over to Animal Kingdom. Funny thing is that we never plan on actually going to AK until Sydney starts asking about the “animal truck” and saving the baby elephant. We always feel guilty and ended up scheduling a few hours to take her to AK. After all, she is the boss! The parks had already started decorating for Christmas which made me very happy since I am a big fan of the holiday season. Sydney at the Animal Kingdom:
We all saw Tarzan Rocks for the first time and Sydney was a big fan (especially of the roller bladers) - the rest of the show was "jaw dropping" for her!
After only a few hours at AK, we decided to head back to the resort and do some swimming. We headed to the BC and lucky for us, our room was ready and our bags were already there! My DH was very excited about checking in here at the BC because he has always wanted to stay there. I was excited because I knew Sydney would LOVE the pool. We had a great room right on the first floor and were given a truly awesome surprise – Concierge Access!! As we walk away from the desk, my DH looks at me and said “Did I hear her right? We have concierge access?” and I just smirked at him. What a nice surprise!!
Sydney in the Concierge Lounge with her new friends (Chip & Dale)
DH is the Lounge - could he smile bigger??
After a few hours at the resort and pool, we grabbed a bus over to AK again because we decided to have dinner at one of our favorite restaurants – BOMA! Sydney was excited too b/c this meant more animal viewing at the resort and I was excited b/c this meant zebra domes for me!!
Much to our surprise dinner was a disappointment this time. We have eaten at Boma about 8 or 9 times and it has never been anything but spectacular. I guess everyone is entitled to a bad night BUT the zebra domes were just as fantastic as always!! However while we were at AKL, Sydney made her first purchas of the trip in the AKL gift shop. We started a tradition last trip that we buy her Disney Dollars and she is allowed to buy one thing per day. This is such a treat for her and she looks forward to it so much. It has even made her more picky about what she wants when we are in the shops. Funny part is that she makes us stand off to the side b/c she wants to pay like a big girl.
Here is her big purchase:
Day 2 is done and tomorrow is another day. We are off to the resort to get some rest!
Great update!! Your daughter is adorable, she reminds me of my youngest daughter. Can't wait to read more!! Congrats on getting congierge at Beach Club!
