Re: Festing with Far-flung Friends - Mousefest 2005 - Pre-Trip - 11/23 The four of us have a trans-continental call planned for tonight, so I'm sure some of our plans may get solidified or changed, depending on the boys' moods. DH and I splurged this weekend and bought a ginormous TV which has severely limited my budget -- well, not really, but it makes me leery of blowing scads of cash on non-essentials during this trip. Good thing Calder has been strong-arming his Pop-pop for pocket change over the past few months. We counted out his cash this weekend and discovered that he had $62 in coins. Plus he had some bills from gifts and for his terrific grades -- in total, he has $87 to spend while we're at Mousefest. I told him that I wouldn't be buying anything other than his meals and he'd have to fork over the funds for candy and make-your-own Stitch cups (I saw these in pics from Club Cool and they look awesome. I know I'll come home with a Minnie one!) I have managed to rack up $337 in Disney Visa Rewards Dollars!! Woo hoo! That covers all but the tax of Calder's Annual Pass!! (I just transfered these to my rewards card and it expires on 12/31/05 -- DO NOT FORGET TO USE THE *&$# REWARDS CARD, EILEEN!) Maureen sent my DME tags and they'll go on our luggage tonight. Which reminds me, I have to pull our bags out of the basement -- gotta give the spiders a chance to climb OUT of the bags before I pack them with our stuff. ) Karen and I are considering a taxi for the trip back to the airport since reading a few negative posts about the return DME trip for non-participating airlines. We're going to discuss towncar/limos tonight as well. I didn't get a chance to send a box down to the resort with random foods, but we have soooo many ADRs set up that I don't think we'll really need much. I'm gonna pack some stuff in my luggage, which will make room for souven-ears on the return trip. I have some chewy granola bars and push pops to keep Calder happy. I'll have to grab a bag of bagels and remember to throw our POFQ mugs in too. Luckily, I've been keeping all pertinent info in a binder for this trip, so it'll be easy to put my hands on all that stuff. Now to print out my packing list and start putting stuff together. The bad thing for tomorrow is that my boss nabbed me today and asked me to work a little tomorrow morning. Then Sears comes to the house to give all our appliances their annual checkup. Shoot, that means I won't have time for a mani-pedi... a real luxury for me! hmmmmm, what else am I forgetting..... <more to come -- I feel a rhyme bubbling to the surface....>

Re: Festing with Far-flung Friends - Mousefest 2005 - Pre-Trip - 11/23 Oh Eileen! I absolutely the autograph books. It's the first one that I've ever had! I'm not bringing any food at all. I think I have more meals scheduled on this five day trip than I've ever had on some of my week long trips. I'm so excited I can't stand it! See you real soon! Karen

Re: Festing with Far-flung Friends - Mousefest 2005 - Pre-Trip - 11/23 Here's my first stab at the Room Assigner poem for this trip. (I'm bringing in my "ringer" to address some of the issues with dicey meter moments. It's good to have a sister with a PhD in writing from Berkely!) It’s that time once again to come visit our friend, the Main Mouse, Mr. M, the Big Cheese We’re back to our favorite -- the FrenchQ – we’ll savor it! And we know how to say “pretty please!” I have trouble walking when MS is squawking! I’d like to request Building 4. On the first floor is best for relaxing and rest when my legs cannot take any more. Near the food court and bus is just perfect for us yet we’d love to be close to the pool. So, Dear Room Assigner -- no other is kinder -- we’re wanting a room that is cool! Can you help us? We beg… save my back and my leg!! Crepe Escape seems the best spot of all. First floor, Building 4… we couldn’t ask more… and we know that our order is “tall.” But if you can swing it and don’t have to wing it to give us what we’re asking for, we’d bless you forever and book there whenever we come to The World for some “more.” Waddaya think?

Re: Festing with Far-flung Friends - Mousefest 2005 - Pre-Trip - 11/29 So, last night I got Calder to take a bath and get his nails all clipped short -- but I totally failed on bribing him to let me trim up his hair. <shucks> (I cut his hair normally, but he totally hates the process and just WILL NOT get an interim trim for special occasions.) Well, I was on the laptop printing stuff out and Calder was sitting on the other office chair -- staring at the phone. RING RING... it's Karen(!!) and Calder was barely polite enough to demand that she put Zack on the phone. It took the boys about 30 seconds to determine what this trip's annoying phrase will be. Apparently, "18 wheeler" is on the cusp of being passe, so they've moved on to "Fudruckers" (which is hysterical since Calder just cannot remember it and keeps mangling it in not-so-mildly hilarious ways.) The boys chatted for about 10 minutes, which I thought showed extraordinary restraint on my part since I was dying to talk to Karen. Then I grabbed the phone and sent Calder to bed (it was, after all, about 9:30PM and he had an early start this morning for band practice -- he plays the oboe, God help me.) Well, we girls had a gab fest with a great deal of laughing -- especially over the "surprising" content of some of the new cable channels our ginormous TV is getting from Comcast. Who knew our neighbors (whose cable service is often crossed with ours) were such pervs?! Finally, Karen and Zack had to go so they could dash to Target for their last minute packing needs. I worked until almost midnight getting stuff together. Then I curled up under my blankets and.... sat there, wide-eyed, waiting for morning to come. Who can sleep before a WDW trip? I had to go to work this morning, but it was QA testing stuff, so I could spend my waiting times surfing the web and reading and posting on Passporter. Then it was time to head home for the Sears repair team to come give the appliances a check-up. I'm once again on the boards while simultaneously checking the prices on Tiffany Towncar's offerings. Guess what we're getting for the trip back to the airport? Click here to see, but don't tell the boys! Ooooh, the luggage is in the guest room (go, spiders, git!) and the last-minute laundry is tumbling, and the boarding passes are printed! What's next?!
