Re: & Larry’s Semicentennial Birthday Jaunt (Day 1, Part 2 Up!) I've been waiting for this! First of all, ! I thought of you last weekend (and I do admit to a tad bit of jealousy! ) Your room is outstanding - - and that does it, I am going concierge one day soon! And your meal at AP! Oh my! In a little over 2 weeks, I am right there and I couldn't be more excited! Now, do you recommend the fixed price menu or ordering off the menu? Also, do you recommend the wine flight? Keep it coming! Jill

Re: & Larry’s Semicentennial Birthday Jaunt (Day 1, Part 2 Up!) [ QUOTE ] Now, do you recommend the fixed price menu or ordering off the menu? Also, do you recommend the wine flight? [/ QUOTE ] Jill, the last two times I have been to Artist Point, I have considered the fixed price menu, but just didn't think I could eat a salad with everything else. It worked out when Bob & I were there with Marti and Mike and Astrid, because I think Marti ate Astrid's salad. I haven't gotten the wine flight for about 5 years--I really like to pick something myself for each course, but it is a good way to try different wines. I am not sure about the size of the pour, however, and would ask about that first before I decided. I hope you have a great time!

& Larry’s Semicentennial Birthday Jaunt (Day 1, Part 3 Up!) Thursday, April 6, 2006 – Part 4, Birthday Surprise! After paying the bill at Artist Point, I headed upstairs where I am slightly ashamed to say I got a couple of cookies, a small cup of decaf, and a glass of Grand Marnier to just sit and relax over (as opposed to what I had been doing ). ![]() The Old Faithful Club Room is where the beverages and food are set up, including the magic coffee machines [counterclockwise from right to left]. ![]() The apple cobbler is in the red pan down at the end--past the wines . ![]() The liqueurs and cookies are a bit hard to make out. At the very end is a refrigerator with sodas. ![]() This is the bottled water, milk and chocolate milk. At other times, juices or lemonade and tea are in this area. ![]() After a while I strolled to the room, where I found to my surprise that the Birthday had been by and left me balloons, a card signed by MM himself, and a chocolate picture of the WL! Woohoo! ![]() ![]() The beds had been turned down and mints wrapped in gold with the WL logo left, together with a card that read: "We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children." [Native American Proverb] I went downstairs with the camera and took some night pictures of the courtyard. I had to make do bracing the camera because I did not have a tripod. ![]() ![]() I came back upstairs and that was it for the day, which in and of itself was worth the trip! Coming Up: Off to Epcot

Re: & Larry’s Semicentennial Birthday Jaunt (Day 1, Part 3 Up!) What a fantastic way to end the evening. I would have had a hard time passing up a little nightcap myself! And what a surprise you find awaiting you in your room! That Mickey Mouse is such a swell guy (well, mouse ). It sounds as if the day was everything you wanted it to be plus more! Thanks for the advice on the fixed price menu and the wine flight also! Jill

Re: & Larry’s Semicentennial Birthday Jaunt (Day 1, Part 3 Up!) Hi Larry! I'm just getting started on your TR. It sounds like you're having an awesome birthday. I love the chocolate WL picture! Have you eaten it or just kept it for the memories? Can't wait to read more! Of course, I miss WL already! Laura

[/ QUOTE ] Laura, with the chocolate mint pieces from the turndown each night, I was not particularly tempted to eat the picture (it's really ), and I have not yet had a chance to show it to Bob, so it is still intact. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes, everyone! Yes, the day was everything I hoped it would be--and more. But there was also more fun to come! |
