| Our kid-less getaway. 10/31-11/6 A Pre-trip report Since today my counter suddenly revertedt o DAYS instead of months. (YAY!) I think it is high time that I started a pretrip report! I might be a little premature, but I am getting so excited that I MUST find a way to channel all this energy! Second Star to the right and straight on till morning! OFF WE Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Cast of Characters. ME- Michele, 32 mother to two daughters and shift manager at you friendly local Shoney's. Soccer mom, and Disney nut. I am a shift manager at your friendly local Shoney's...VERY organized. DH- Steven, 36, only the sweetest husband ever. We own and run our own septic tank business.. he says "its a crappy job, but somebody's gotta do it " Various friends and buddies- We are attending the wedding of our friends Lisa and Pete on Castaway cay, so we will be joined by about 25 friends and assorted family members of the bridal party.. Notably absent from our cast? Our two daughters! 8 and 14. Since we both had a child from a previous marriage when we met, This is our first ever vacation without our children. (including our honeymoon!) The guilt that I feel for taking a trip alone waxes and wanes... comes and goes.. but I figure its an important thing for Mom's and Dad's to remember that there WAS life before the munchkins. The girls will be well taken care of by my parents and my aunt.. and we will surely miss them.. but are SO excited to take off on this adventure. Every journey begins with a single step... The planning of this trip began nearly a year ago when my sweet friend Lisa became engaged to her fiance Pete... and sent out an invitation with a mouse and a cruise ship on it. Of course my reaction was." OHHHHHHHH.. yall have a good time, cant wait to see the pictures when you get back!" It didnt even cross my mind as possible. But the more I thought about it.. and heard all her "wonder"full plans The more I wanted to be along! As a family we have been to Disney 3 times, but never on a cruise. SO, I began pricing out staterooms for the 4 of us. It was possible. Then friends from church returned from a second honeymoon style trip on Carnival.. with rave reviews. That REALLY got the wheels turning.. Could I, in good concience plan a Disney cruise without my children? As it turns out? apparently. And while I was at it? Why not add a day or so at the beach? ItinEARary. (yes its spelled wrong on purpose) Our plans are pretty much in place.. as an extreme planner what else could you expect? Friday October 31- Depart from Dillon SC (we live right in the shadow of PEDRO on I-95) approx 10 am. after I get off from work. DH will gas up the vehicle and we will have packed up the night before. I plan to fill our cooler with ice from work and be ready to hit the road as soon as I can change out of my Shoney's uniform. We plan to eat lunch on the road someplace.. likely a quick fast food stop. We should be able to make fairly good time since we wont be stopping at every potty between our house and the florida line. I was able to book the Luna Sea B&B in Cocoa Beach for $59 a night. They offer free breakfast both mornings of our two night stay, as well as FREE cruise parking! We arent fancy hotel types and since we live 60 miles from Myrtle Beach, ocean front isnt a must. The Luna Sea has great reviews, so I feelk pretty confident in this choice. Saturday November 1- Today we plan to relax and enjoy Cocoa Beach. We also plan to explore Merritt Island and perhaps see Playalinda Beach. I am still a little undecided about dinner today. There are several options.. including taking a little drive over to a certain MOUSE HOUSE.. Ive researched several local retraunts too. That takes us to boarding the Wonder on sunday! I just cant wait to spend 7 whole days with my hunny!
