Hi all thanks for joining in. Welcome to my first cruise (Disney or otherwise) TR. I debated on even doing this TR because my cruise is just a quick 2 night weekend thing from NY. But after I completed my TR to WDW I’m still in the mind set and figured what the heck.
Cast of Characters: Me, Holly, Mommy first cruise ever Evan, Son 5 (and a half), first cruise ever Mom, Janet, cruise to Alaska and 2 river cruises in Europe.
When: Friday June 15 to Sunday June 17 Father’s Day weekend
Where: Port of New York – at Sea – Port of New York
Ship: Disney Magic.
I’ll fill you in with more details and planning as they progress. I have a few really busy weekends coming up and since I’m not really sure what to expect on the cruise – I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and under prepared.
I have read my Passporter and was able to get some ideas and tips but this is going to be a trial by fire sort of thing.
Coming up next – My Baltimore weekend, Wildwood Weekend, 3 graduations, Beauty and the Beast and baseball.
Oh, goody, Holly, so glad you're writing this one up. Such a short cruise, but I'm sure Disney will do it up right. These cruises are probably to get people who have never cruised Disney to give it a try, so they'll probably give you a good dose of the "Magic"!
So glad you're writing this Holly!! I am going on my 1st cruise Disney or otherwise too in Oct 2012 when the Magic comes and visits Galveston after being in NY so I hope to gain some knowledge from your experiences.
Can't wait to read about your planning.
Sounds like your Mom could give a few general cruising pointers!
Disney Wonder for three days was our first cruise and we had a great time! And considering it was our first cruise, hence not sure if we were going to like it, I chose a shorter cruise.
On one hand, very glad we chose Disney as our first.... on the other hand, we had such a great time we were wishing for a few more days! I hope this is your experience too!
Great start, Holly! I'm glad that you decided to write this! I am excited to hear about the cruise, even if it is only for a weekend! I was so excited to hear that they were having this getaway cruise out of NYC when they announced it last year, but sadly it didn't work for us and we couldn't book it I'll just have to live vicariously through you now!
Hi everyone I just started a new TR for my weekend away in Baltimore I was going to do just a quick recap in this report but we had so much fun I thought I'd do a regular report.
If interested you can view it here. Baltimore/Washington A Nearly Perfect Weekend
My Baltimore weekend, Wildwood Weekend, 3 graduations, Beauty and the Beast and baseball.
My cruise is just about 3 weeks away and I’ve done nothing for it yet. This is so new to me I’m not really sure what I need plus life is really busy right now. Work is OK but home life is crazy a bit.
Last weekend Evan and I were away in Baltimore/Washington DC. This weekend we are going down the shore for the holiday. June 3rd we have box seats for the Camden Riversharks baseball game. June 6th is Kindergarten round-up. June 8th Evan has a “prom” at his day care. June 9th Evan has a birthday party. June 10th is Beauty and the Beast – on stage in Philly. He resumes tee ball on June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 but we will miss those last 2 days. June 13th is my niece’s high school graduation. June 14th is Evan’s pre-school “graduation” Is it just me or am I the only one who finds this ridiculous. I mean it’s PRESCHOOL for krepe’s sake. Never the less I’ll be going to it. June15-17 is the cruise June 17 is my niece’s graduation party And another niece has her 8th grad graduation sometime around this time as well. At least I’m all done teaching Sunday school.
Just to keep things interesting here are some photos of Evan at Baseball. He was so excited to be on the Phillies - the only team he knows.
This is him pouting because he didn't get EVERY ball hit to him
Swing and a miss
It feels so weird to nott be pulling my hair out with cruise planning. I’ve done the online check-in and registered Evan for the kid’s club so not too much other planning until packing.
Coming up next – ??? I don’t know. I’ll see what life throws at me.
I know what you mean Holly, this time of year is insane with the kids but how you managed to schedule in a mini cruise during all that is awesome. I am excited yo hear how these short cruises work. I thought of booking one but it just didn't work out, so we will have to wait until November for our first cruise. Good luck the packing and last minute planning, can't wait to hear all about it.
Sounds like you're going to be busy, but the next few weeks will fly by and your cruise will be here before you know it. I'm looking forward to hearing how a short cruise is. We want to take a cruise at some point, but haven't decided if we want short and sweet or if we want to do a nice long cruise.
Love the pics of Evan! Your schedule looks insane. The good thing about the shorter cruises is that there's no real "formal" night-- not that you need to participate in that even on the longer cruises. My first cruise was a 3-night and I kept feeling beforehand that I'd forgotten to plan, learn, or pack something. All the planning is done by DCL, though. All you have to do is show up, read your navigator for what you want to do, and have fun! Good luck getting through the next month!
