Re: June 4-11, 2005 Thank You Trip Day Two, Part 1

Just catching up and I'm enjoying this so much. My mom's luggage (and the people she was traveling with) also was on the wrong plane when she went on a cruise last year (not Disney). Not alot of fun-they waited 4 days for theirs.

Re: June 4-11, 2005 Thank You Trip Day Two, Part 2

Sunday, June 5, 2005, Part 2

Phew, that was one long breakfast!

Cami decided she wanted to go to Club for Detective School at 10, and would stay until she paged us.

My DH and DM have a bingo obsession, so that was on the books for 10:45, but in the meantime, my Mom and Marlene decided to try a craft at 10. They asked if my Dad and I wanted to stay when we dropped them off...we looked at each other with panic in our eyes, and couldn't say No fast enough!
We puttered around until they were done making frames with little mosaic tiles. They were very pretty, and I probably should have stayed and done one!
Bingo time!
The announcer is named Dazzler...he's from England and he's a riot. When he feels he's been explaining things too long he gets the crowd to shout, "Get on with it, Dazzler!"
Then of course, he makes us groan with the classic Bingo phrases, such as, "Not after, B4." Ha ha. Almost funny! His favorite seemed to be "Yeah, baby" ala Mike Myers in Austin Powers. The funniest was when a tiny girl's voice would yell, "Yeah, baby!" Even Dazzler cracked up!
Well, of course we didn't win anything - and the jackpot wasn't won, either. Marlene thought the whole thing was rigged - that they could decide whether the jackpot would be won that day...But don't those little balls get sucked up randomly?
Anyhoo...we decided to try Lumiere's for lunch...very posh, with yummy choices (can you tell I didn't write anything down?) for everyone.
Cami had lunch with her club, and then buzzed us.
Pool time was next, which Cami was very happy about!
She's our bathing beauty!

Can you tell she likes to pose?

The decks by the pool get HOT! Bring your flip flops all the way to the pool deck, and then take them off, otherwise you'll be doing the "my feet are too stinking hot" dance!

This was Formal Night - but remember, my parents had no luggage! Marlene was nice enough to offer my Mom some clothes to wear, and they were close enough in size that it worked, thank God! But Dad was another matter...the shops were beginning to recognize him! He purchased a nice pair of black slacks and a soft white shirt.

Now that we were all neat and pretty, we could go down to the Captain's reception.

Tina Max, Cami and Marlene all decked out!

Roger and Linda Max, Tina and Cami all fancyshmancy

There's just something weird about going to Parrot Cay for Formal Night. All those people dressed up in the Tropics
...at least we got to meet the Captain and have free cocktails!

After photo opportunities galore (Marlene even sat for a solo Formal Night photo), we were seated.

Dinner was wonderful, and much too much food was had by all!

We ran back to the room before heading to the Golden Mickey Awards to grab sweaters, since we knew the Theatre was air conditioned.

Cami couldn't resist posing in her Formal dress in her usual spot.

Our room steward had turned down the beds already and made us the cutest Towel Dog.

The Golden Mickeys sounded like a fun show - it wasn't around yet in 2000 when we sailed on the Wonder, so we were looking forward to it!

Entering the Golden Mickeys Award Show

This show was fabulous, from the Announcer outside talking to the kids, to the stage hand who had to take over. My favorite part was Roy Disney (supposedly via satellite) helping out the stage hand.
Guess who won?
You're probably right, but I'm not telling you!

Guess what else? Yes, we had to turn the clocks forward another hour! Yikes - at least we got to sleep in, since I had made ressies at Palo for brunch at 11am.

This was the night I had trouble getting to sleep. Let me just say that snoring was rumbling through the cabin! So, would engine noise have bothered me? Probably not! Oh, well, we enjoyed the view immensely!

Sleep tight, tomorrow, another Day at Sea!

[ QUOTE ]
Thanks for sharing your trip report! I can't wait to hear more. My boss just came up to Anchorage to visit last week and Alaska Airlines delayed his luggage too. Hope they don't do that to mine in 43 days!

[/ QUOTE ]

My advice is to watch your luggage closely - with all the jostling and mayhem at the counter, it's easy to see how things get mixed up. Make sure they put your barcodes on your bags, and make sure you get your luggage claim tickets, not someone elses!
Best wishes for a safe and fun trip!

Re: June 4-11, 2005 Thank You Trip Day Two, Part 2

I just remembered the most magical moment of the trip - we were pulling away from San Pedro, probably right before or after the dreaded drill.
Max looks out our porthole and spots a pod of dolphins jumping and spinning. I yell to my parents to look out their porthole, but no one spotted them, except Max and I. It was our own little moment to share.

I LOVE your dress for formal night! That color really looks great on your skin tone. You should where that this summer-

That Cami with her posing is cracking me up! Not the fact that she's silly, but the fact that she's pulling it off! She really looks like a model!

And what a moment with the dolphins. That's so magical and special-! I'm glad your remembered it to share with us.

Thank You Trip

West Coast Cruise DCL Magic

Ahhhh, the luxury of sleeping in!

We didn't have anything scheduled until the Palo brunch at 11am! Since Cami couldn't come with us, she would be at club for:
10am Sports Deck Fun
11:30 Lunch at Animator's Palate
12:30 Pirate Prep
Sounds like fun, can I go?

Max again got up first to go get coffee for the caffeine deprived from the Deck 9 station, but this time he stopped by Topsider's and brought back a selection of fruit and pastries...how's that for service?

We looked at our Navigators to see what we would do for the rest of the day...hmm, not much that we want to do.
After dropping Cami off at the club, we headed up to Palo...mmm, Palo...we had all done dinner on our last cruise, but I let them know that brunch was entirely different, and boy was it!

All enjoying Palo's amazing brunch...can you tell who's related to whom?

I told Max his eyes looked amazing with that blue shirt on...I think he blushed!

Our server , Milan, came over and took us around to all the different stations - there were fruits, meats, seafood, cheeses, breads, desserts, and then there were entrees!
Marlene had a fish entree she raved about! Max, Dad and I had a steak omelette, and I believe Mom had a ham and cheese omelette. I kept going back for more cheese and strawberries. When my Mom couldn't reach the chocolate covered strawberries, Milan brought a whole bowl full for her to enjoy!
When we mentioned to Milan that we wanted to take the extra strawberries back for our daughter, Cami, he wrapped the bowl in an amazing aluminum foil swan.

Everything was SO delicious! I highly recommend this experience!

Now stuffed, our intrepid travelers head back to the room to play a card game called, "Up and Down the River". Anyone else played? You start with 10 cards each, and guess how many tricks you'll take. You go until you only have 1 card each, and instead of looking at it, you put it on your forehead so that everyone else can see it, and you can't!
You play another round with just 1 card, then start going back up to 10 cards. So after you've gone UP the river, you go back DOWN...hold on, I've always been confused. You start with 10 cards and go to 1, so you've come down, then you start with 1 card, and go back up to 10 cards...shouldn't the game be called, "Down and Up the River"?

Anyway, we had a fun time playing, then Cami came back from Pirate Prep.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!

Argh!

Didn't they do a good job?

I'll bet you can guess what we did next...that's right...pool time!

Even though it was cool this morning, the afternoon brightened up considerably!

After swimming, it was time to enjoy a little snack.

Who knew aluminum could look so pretty?

By now, it was almost time for dinner at Lumiere's, so we got dressed and headed down to a wonderful dinner.

After dinner, we went straight to Studio Sea for a Family Scavenger Hunt.

Unfortunately, none of us had our purses, except Marlene. They asked for things like a gum wrapper, sunglasses, a Navigator, and you had to be quick to get credit! I ran back to the cabin and got my fanny pack, so we'd have a better chance. Marlene scored with both her license, and a credit card.

Then, they asked for a man in woman's shoes. I practically pulled Max's shoes off and shoved his feet in my little silver strappy mules. The announcer gave Max extra credit for wearing high heels.
To further embarass the men, they next asked for the man to keep on the shoes, but put on lipstick, and carry a purse.
There was a cute beauty contest where the men were supposed to give a woman's name and say something frilly, but most of the men just didn't get it! They would say their name was Bruno...and they liked hunting???
It was very cute, but Cami was pretty disappointed that we didn't win anything!

My parents wanted to scout out the shops for more clothes, so we all went and picked up some souveneirs, including a pin for my Dad's birthday on Wednesday.

Cami had been seeing and wanting the golden Mickey ears, so Grandma Marlene bought them as her birthday present. (Her birthday is June 30th, but Grandma wouldn't be around then.)

Back in the room, another towel animal was waiting.

Scary Scorpion!

Since tomorrow would be Puerto Vallarta day, we decided to hit the hay. I pulled out my secret weapon for sleepless nights - NyQuil!

Sweet Dreams!
Tomorrow - Puerto Vallarta

Re: June 4-11, 2005 Thank You Trip Day Three, Part 1

It sounds like everyone but Cami had a truly relaxing day...do what you feel like, when you feel like it! Isn't that what vacations are supposed to be? That and the food. Of course the food!

Reading your TR, I just can't wait to get on board. I think when I do, I'll be thinking of you guys and picturing Cami running through the kids club and posing for pictures(by the by, she should get some head shots done.).

Can't wait for Puerto Vallarta. I'm sure it's going to be a great day!

I have to ask how you got your picture to turn out in front of the porthole windows - even when I got my camera to flash - they were to dark. Did you have to set it up manually?
