| Re: Trip Report - Jolene\'s Suprise trip on Mickey\'s Boat - Let the Magic...Err Wonder.. begin - 11/9 Oh - Since I finally got around to scanning pictures that we purchased while on board (at least the ones I bought). Here is one of me at Parrot Cay. ![]() Day 3 - This morning we arrived in Nassau. The plan for the day was that the girls would go ashore this morning for some shopping, while Dad stayed onboard in the computer lounge since lots of walking is hard on my dad's ankles. After shopping, we would have lunch onboard and then head to our bus tour of the Ardastra Gardens and some of the sights in Nassau. Then we would come back to the ship, Jolene would go to the club and the adults would go to Palo for dinner. After dinner and the club, I would take Jolene to the Pirates in the Caribbean desk party!! So after arriving and docking, we headed down to breakfast. We also ran into a BUNCH of princesses.... so Jolene and I stood in line for all the princess while mom and dad went into Triton's to have breakfast. Cinderella signs Jolene's Princess hat Jolene and Cinderella Jolene asked me if the princesses have special rooms on the ship and if they have other princesses as roommates. She asked Belle who her roommate was -- and Belle played right along... Did you know that Snow White and Belle are good friends and roommates??? Belle's cabinmate Snow White's cabinmate Jolene and Alice After breakfast, Jolene, mom and I headed out into Nassau to do a little shopping. We headed to the straw market to see what we could find. Jolene found a cute little straw purse with Jasmine on it. The vendor finished it right as we were sitting there and even put Jolene's name on it. After all of the shopping (we didn't do much as we had a tour scheduled for the afternoon and needed to get lunch back on the ship), we stopped for a quick moment to take a few photos. Grandma and Jolene in front of the Wonder Continued in the next post |

| Re: Trip Report - Jolene\'s Suprise trip on Mickey\'s Boat - Let the Magic...Err Wonder.. begin - 11/9 After lunch - we headed to the Cadillac Lounge to meet our tour groups... Now I remember from Joan's TR about the bus with the fold down seats on her bus tour -- and what do I see when we get to the bus.... that's right -- the bus with fold down seats!! Since I was the first one on the bus - I immeadiately herded my family to the back where there was a large bench seat. We headed to the Ardastra Gardens and Conservation Center for a Self Guided walking tour. Here is a website with more information on the Gardens - http://www.ardastra.com/ . I am not a tour fan - but we had a good time. Especially when we got to the parrot feeding cage and the Marching Flamingos. Here are some photos. Ardastra is famous for their marching flamingos. They have been profiled in National Geographic magazine and on the Animal Planet Channel. During the marching - they take people from the audience and have the flamingos march around them. The chose a woman from our section - and she Jolene was with us, and brought her out with her. We also got to pose with a couple of parrots on the way out. I was in line getting our compliemtary sodas and missed my chance - but I did get a picture of Jolene. We hopped back on the bus... and somehow we ended up with three more people on the bus than we had before (we had empty seats on the way there). No one checked the stickers... ahd these three people just got on our bus -- and one of the women slammed the fold down seat down on my dad's (already aching) ankles . We went from the zoo and gardens to Fort Fincastle and the Queen's staircase. Now I did these last October with Cheryl - so I had no real interest in doing it again -- but my dad, being a General and all -- can not go by a fort without stopping . He did the tour of the fort, while mom shopped and I looked. After the tour of the fort, we got back on the bus (minus the three people who did not belong on the bus) and headed back to the ship. Jolene was scheduled to go to the club, while mom, dad and I were looking forward to a nice quiet afternoon and a great dinner at Palos. I took Jolene to the club, and went back to the cabin to relax a bit with my parents. We got a little bit hungry and since dinner was not scheduled until 730pm, we called room service and got the fruitplate and cheese plate. It was really nice just to relax a little bit. At one point, I wanted to confirm our dinner time - so I called Guest Services... and they told me we did not have dinner reservations at Palo tonight -- it was last night . So I tried to call Palo, and got the answering machine. So I left the room and went to Palo to figure out what was going on -- and when I got there Celia (Cheryl's and my server from last year was behind the desk). She got the manager (Andre??) and he said that while all of the other sea-day/Nassau day events had been switched - Palo reservations had not - but no one had called us or anything.... so we ended up with an 840pm reservation. Now this worried me a bit - since we might not be done with dinner until after 10pm. That meant Jolene would have been in the club since 3pm - 7 hours... and we were not sure if that would be ok. I went back to the room, told mom and dad about the change and rested a bit. At about 630pm the phone range - and it was the manager at Palo who told my dad that "they messed up with your wife - can you come for dinner at 8pm?" After correcting him that I was not the wife, but the daughter - yes we would come at 8pm. This made our concerns about Jolene a little less worrisome. At about 715, we all started getting ready for dinner. We made it up to Palo and were seated immeadiately. We were served by Nadia from Romania -- and Andre brought us all a glass of Champagne to apologize for the mixup . We had a great meal (although my dad is a regular steak and potatoes man... he likes Olive Garden italian - not real italian). Here are some pics from our meal. Here is a photo of mom, dad and I at Palo's. ![]() After a great dinner - dad went to get Jolene, mom and I paid the bill and then Jolene and I changed clothes and went to the Pirate's in the Caribbean party on deck -- we had a GREAT time partying with Mickey and gang in all the pirate garb!!! After a great time -- we went down to the cabin and very quickly fell asleep. Next - Castaway Cay!!! |

Only kids think of things like where the characters sleep on the ship and who their room mates are! The marching flamingos are hiliarious! Jolene looks like she's having a great time. Great update! |

If you went in the cage - you got parrots - on your head, on your shoulder, on your arm, on your hands.... If you ever go to Ardastra -- and don't want parrots on your head - don't go in teh cage . |

And I can see some of your dad in your face and your mom too. Great food photos. That souffle looks wonderful! And so glad you did not need the travel duct tape for the bus ride. Perhaps you could have taped the door shut from the "pirates" who boarded your bus! |

| Re: Trip Report - Jolene\'s Suprise trip on Mickey\'s Boat - Let the Magic...Err Wonder.. begin - 11/9 A great update! When I saw the picture of you with your mom and dad I could see the resemblences too. It reminded me of parent conferences when I meet kids parents, and they usually look just like both of them! And that first picture of you was just great. Very photogenic! I learned about birds the hard way at Discovery Cove. I was covered with birds in one of the aviaries there and sort of tried to run out with people chasing me "ma'am, you have a bird on your head!" No, #@$! that's why I'm trying to get out of here! The water still looked a little rough there by the dock. It was so still when we were there. Thanks for sharing! |
