Re: Trip Report - Jolene\'s Suprise trip on Mickey\'s Boat - Pre-trip report 10-16-05

Quick update -- I got home from Katrina duty at midnight last night, slept till 10 (skipped the training session), went to work to file the travel voucher and went to the trainer at 530pm for a 45 minute workout.

Things to do tonight:

Find passport - done
Print MCM Bib claim and mail to cheryl in the am
pack suitcase - almost done
pack overnight/carryon bag - almost done
find video camera and new camera - think done
get all school stuff ready for tomorrow - NOT DONE
Make bed - not done
vacuum house - not done
unload dishwasher - done
load and run dishwasher - not done
finish laundry - not done
find dad's CDs - done
Find missing Disney cds - not done
Find Jolene's camera and pin kit - done

I am sure there are other things I am supposed to do tonight that I can not remember since I did not write anything down for this trip (bad passporter). Lots of things to do and quickly running out of time to do everything....

Just a quick note to say I am home - have to download 300+ (love the new camera) photos and unpack EVERYTHING and do lots of laundry. Had a great time!!! Lots of report details to come - and lots of pictures too (need to scan some as well).

I'm sure I wasn't the only one thinking about you while watching Wilma coverage this past weekend. So glad the trip came together and you had a great time!

Re: Trip Report - Jolene\'s Suprise trip on Mickey\'s Boat - Let the Magic...Err Wonder.. begin - 10/2

Day minus 1 – Friday Oct 21, 2005
I slept late today since my plane from Jackson, MS did not land until almost midnight since we had mechanical problems in Memphis and needed to repair the door (take as long as you want!!!). I got the suitcases from the carousel, got the car and opened my garage door at 1230am. Of course, I could not get to sleep right away – so I started laundry and got all the bags unpacked. I think I finally went to sleep at 2am.

I woke up early, and rolled over and went right back to sleep. I finally woke up and got moving at 10am. I called the office and told them I was coming in – but only to file my travel voucher from Mississippi and prepare my travel orders for New Bedford… or at least that was the plan. I had hoped to be out of the office by 3pm…. And ended up leaving at 500 after working on emptying my email inbox (more than 700 messages) and working on the budget issues for a couple of my projects .

I left the office at 500 and immediately headed to meet my trainer Candy for my first workout in more than 42 days. She was nice and did not weigh me – she also gave me a nice round workout with upper and lower body. I got back to the house around 645pm and STARTED packing. That’s right – started. I had not packed a SINGLE item!!! So I spent the evening packing, packing and packing. Do you know that I HATE packing? Love travel – hate packing. I finally finishing packing and went to bed at around 10pm after reading email and the boards. It may have been a little bit later.

Next - Day 0 -- Teacher Terri and a drive to WDW

Day 0 (or Day 1 – depends on how you count) – Oct 22, 2005 – Part One
Teacher Terri and my Drive to Orlando

I woke up early this morning since I had to teach my new class – and went right back to sleep . I was supposed to be out the door at 730 (since class starts at 830 and I like to have a half an hour to set up)…however, when I woke up at 725am – that wasn’t going to happen. NOTHING was in the car yet – Bad news. Now I had a couple of options – I could load everything in the car and be late for class – or throw my teaching stuff in the car and come home, drop off the teaching stuff and then load the car. I took option #2.

Class went well – if you ignore the great classroom merry go round. They had 3 different classrooms listed for my class – and the one I started the morning in was not the one I finished the morning in. Oh well. I have 15 students – the most I have ever had in a semester – this should prove interesting and challenging. After class was finished at 130 – I headed to the car, drove back to the house, unloaded school stuff, loaded WDW/DCL stuff and was on I-95 South in less than 40 minutes. Not too bad. I called Dad to let him know I was on the road and my estimated time of arrival was between 430 and 500pm. He gave me mom’s suite number at Coronado Springs and told me to just come up to the room when I arrived.

My drive went well. I had considered taking I-4 through downtown Orlando – and then got to thinking about Saturday afternoon traffic and hurricane Wilma evacuees… so I headed to SR-417 and bypassed Orlando. I arrived at Coronado Springs right at 5pm and called dad on the cell – he and Miss Jolene (little bit, pumpkin, “J”…. and lots of other names) were waiting for me. She and I got my stuff unloaded from my car, into the room and were out the door heading to MK by 530pm. Not a bad turn around if I do say so.

A Wilma wet evening....
