Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

All caught up and I just love your dining choices! Sanaa is one of our favorite restaurants on property. So glad you were able to book the flight you wanted and the Universal package. We really enjoyed IOA when we went. I think we preferred that over US just because of the themeing.

At first, she announced she wasn't going to that other park, but then Luke showed her some of the Seuss section and she decided it be okay. She felt that it was worth it to go to Florida a few days earlier.

Congratulations on booking your flights!!
Add us to the group with winter blues and longing for sunshine.
I'm afraid there will still be a lot that Stefanie can't do as she is so short, but I'm not fond of big scary thrill rides either. She has decided we'll shop while Daddy rides those.

From all I've read so far, I'm pretty sure we're going to like IoA better.

All caught up!
I hear you on the worry of booking a flight, and then having school days added on!
That was exactly what happened to us last year. We were set to fly out the evening of the last day of school (to catch the Disney Magic in Dover) and then thanks to our tough winter last year, the school year was extended. We figured since the kids were done with SOL's, and the teachers weren't any happier with the extra days, they really weren't missing anything, and left anyway! Travel is educational, right? In fact, on their "last day" of school, they spent the day touring Dover Castle. Which WAS educational!

Just caught up with your trip report and am loving hearing about your plans. It's helping me get through our winter mubblefubbles (great word!). It seems like winter will never end here in Maine ... and our next Disney trip seems ages away (next January). I know once the sun comes out and we can start enjoying the outdoors, I'll quit dreaming of Disney... but for now hearing about your AKL stay and dining plans scratches an itch.

Complete ADR Listing

So now that you know all three of us have chosen, I’ll outline them in the order they appear throughout our trip.

Tuesday, June 7 – Dinner at Boma (6:30 PM)

Wednesday, June 8 – Dinner at Chef Mickey’s (5:30 PM)

Thursday, June 9 – Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure (7:00 AM); Dinner at Sanaa (7:50 PM)

Friday, June 10 – Dinner at Crystal Palace (5:45 PM)

Saturday, June 11 – Dinner at Rose & Crown (7:50 PM)

Sunday, June 12 – Late Lunch/Early Dinner at Mama Melrose’s with the Fantasmic Package (4:20)

Monday, June 13 – Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (6:10 PM)

Tuesday, June 14 – Dinner at The Garden Grill (5:55 PM)

Wednesday, June 15 – Dinner at Via Napoli (5:45 PM)

Thursday, June 16 – Dinner at Big River Grille and Brewing Works (We don’t have a time yet as reservations here can only be made 24 hours in advance. We’ll call that morning and set up a time.)

Friday, June 17 – Dinner at La Hacienda (6:00 PM)

Saturday, June 18 – Lunch at Teppan Edo (12:00 PM)

We don’t actually plan out any of our counter services meals as we are not on any of the dining plans. We usually go with whatever is close when we are hungry. Stefanie has requested that we make sure we are near Toy Story Pizza Planet when we get hungry one of our DHS days. I know some folks do not like this CS place, but it is a winner with my family. But other than that we will arrive in the Bubble without a clue where lunch will be. We do have the Tables in Wonderland Discount card, which works best for our family as Stefanie would be charged as an adult on the dining plan. She hardly eats as much as most 5 year olds. The TiW card also offers a discount on adult beverages, so that is an added bonus.

As far as potential snack choices, Stefanie and I are going to rectify our lack of a Mickey Bar on the past 3 trips , an unbelievable length of time for us between Mickey Bars. Stefanie has also fallen in love with the large, soft pretzels with cheese sauce so that is another must-do snack. Other than those two items, our snack choices will be pretty much like our lunches, whatever is nearby when we get hungry. One of the advantages of DVC for us has been the relaxation of trips, no more commando minute by minute lists. We truly are a go with the flow family!

Trivia: Fact #83 Test Track

When you enter the heat chamber, look left. Someone is making breakfast, with two eggs frying on a bit of aluminum foil on the heat compressor. Those fun-loving Imagineers never miss a chance for a visual gag along the way!

Midway into the cold chamber, look to your left again. See that blue ice-cube tray? Icicles apparently grow upward in Epcot, creating a cool treat after your trip through the heat chamber, perhaps?

Once inside the corrosion chamber, look at the bottom of the robots to either side of your car (the ones that spray you with the fine mist). Their ID letterings spell out CRUS-T and RUST-T.

Next: Where will stay our first three nights?

Mickey Bars got a whole two page layout in our scrapbook last trip and that was just YDS eating oen. He and Stephanie would be all over them.

I'm with her on the pretzels.

The ADRs look great. I can't wait to hear what Luke thinks of the Brew Works...DH doesn't know about that place yet and I'm not telling him until I hear from you guys how it is.

Luke likes the Dole Whips; on a hot day, I think they are okay, but would still rather have a Mickey Bar; and Stefanie can't stand pineapple.

Your meal plans sound great! I am sooooo with you on needing the escape! Our snow is finally starting to melt (and it was a balmy 56 degrees today!)! Our public school system is going until June 27th, (we had 8 snow days this year!) and my DD's school opted to take their April Vacation (when our trip is planned) in lieu of adding the 8 days to the end of the year. (Had I known that she was going to miss 5 days of school I would've just planned the trip for March or May and paid 1/2 of the price for airfare! LOL)

I am so happy for you that your principal gave you the go ahead to book your flights!
And how exciting that you get to add on days and go to Universal - especially Harry Potter! Oh how I wish I could go with you!
Such yummy choices for your ADRs! Your plans look great!
I totally understand all about your winter blahs! The last three winters in Indiana were extremely hard on me! I really struggled with depression - the winter blues as Allen would call them! I think the main motivation for him to move to Florida was to get me into sunshine!
I know you have had a very rough winter! I hope that spring comes soon for you!
