An Animal Kingdom Frame of Mind with Cam and Fam PTR Completed - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Here's another for Stefanie!! And Kelley and Corinne would like to know what she got for presents this year.
(Nice intro, by the way.)
She got Seasons 1 - 4 of the Bill Cosby Show, the Disney t-shirt in her picture here, a new lanyard with a Tinker Bell 2011 pin, a miniature Mr. Potato Head that she has named Woody because he is dressed as a cowboy, the Yogi Bear cartoon movie, Finding Nemo the Musical CD, and some Disney stickers.

That was a fabulous introduction. I love how you went from a pic of all three of you in your intro, to one of just Luke and Stephanie for his intro, and then just Stephanie for her intro.
I wasn't sure anyone would actually notice that!

Tell Luke that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Hoosier! And tell him when he meets a former Hoosier in June, to be kind!
And you have me all excited that you are thinking about moving from the golden triangle to Florida - even just for the winter! I think it would be a GREAT move!
I love the trivia! I think I need to head to the bookstore today and look up that book!
Great update Cam!
There was a point this winter when I was ready to retire right then and move down. Too bad it was financially impossible, but some day we will retire.

Great intro! And another trivia item I didn't know, although once I read it, I do agree parts of Liberty Square DO look like Williamsburg! Have to see some pictures to get where they think the Dutch/New Amsterdam influence is, though.
She got a Disney shirt, CD, and stickers. But I know for a fact that on Saturday when she parties with family she will be getting quite a few Disney gift cards.

I have mentioned in other PTRs that we all pick out 3 or 4 restaurants that we feel are must-dos. I’ll start with Stefanie’s picks.
#1 Chef Mickey’s is always number one or two on her list. She loves riding the monorail to and from the Contemporary, shopping in Fantasia and the other gift shops, and most of all dining with her favorite mouse. She requested this one early in the trip, so we’ll be dining with Mickey for dinner on Wednesday, June 8. When she realized that this was her aunt June’s birthday, she reminded me that we will need to call her since June had loved her meal when they came with us in 2007.
#2 Crystal Palace is always in competition with Chef Mickey’s as Stefanie loves the guaranteed time with her favorite 100 Acre Woods characters, and so do her mom and dad. I can’ t remember now why, but we have this one scheduled for dinner on Friday, June 10.
#3 Garden Grill has now become her three recurring choice because she always gets to see Chip and Dale here. She still complains about the fact that the chipmunks are no longer at Chef Mickey’s. She didn’t pick Garden Grill a few years ago and then complain most of the trip because we weren’t eating here. So even if she forgets to pick it, I think I’ll always put it in to save the peace. :rolf:
#4 Liberty Tree Tavern is a new one on Stefanie’s list. We had such a great meal here on our November trip that she requested to return in June. She loved the macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and turkey and only complained a little that the characters, especially Chip and Dale were no longer here.
Trivia: Fact #87 Haunted Mansion (one of our favorite attractions)
The caretaker’s dog isn’t looking well either, though he does look familiar. It is said Walt had a dog he was particulary fond of and his memory lives on in Rover, who makes an appearance here in the graveyard, in Carousel of Progress, and dangling the prison keys at the end of the Pirates of the Caribbean. (I love how Walt does that! )
Happy Birthday to Stefanie! Love that she got the Cosby Show on DVD! One of my favorite shows growing up! Love her restaurant choices as well. I'm doing CP for the first time this year. Can't wait to see Pooh and Pig-a-let.
YAY!! All caught up on the newest Cam and Fam PTR.
to Stefanie. It sounds like she had a great birthday! I think I might have to check out that Nemo CD.
So awesome that y'all are doing on the Sunrise Safari! Y'all are going to it. It will be David's first time doing it when we go in May.
And added bonus, sharing it with a fellow PP. Kelly and her family and Steph and I did this in June 09 together (we didn't pre-plan it that way, we found out right before our trips that we'd be on the same safari) and it was fun. At the breakfast Dylan, who had never met me before the excursion, came up and sat on my lap while we were all talking. It happened that our tables were by each other for the breakfast (they are pre-selected/reserved). He is so cute, going around high-fiving Stephanie and everyone around us. The food was really good too!
Definitely can't wait to hear Stefanie's take on the Safari!
Thanks for sharing the facts with us! Love the ones about the main street lamps and Walt's dog. Can't wait to hear more. And I think I will be buying this book before our trip too so I can have it with me there. But I will wait til closer, I like getting the facts this way!
Oh my, I've gotten behind already! to Stefanie. Hope she had a great day. I like her meal choices. The only one I haven't tried is LTT. Looking forward to seeing some great pictures of Stefanie with the chipmunks at GG. We went to GG on our first family trip but haven't been back since (mostly because there are so many other great restaurants to choose from in Epcot). May need to rethink that. I'm loving your trivia. I think I have that book around here somewhere . I'll have to look for it (I have a lot of books around here). But I think I'll wait as I'm enjoying hearing each tidbit in your PTR.
I love the trivia and HM is my favorite ride so I really love the one in this update! I'm going to make a point of checking out Rover in June! Thanks!!!

I am looking forward to reading about all of those meals as I am ashamed to say I have not been to any of those restaurants (although we are thinking about Crystal Palace and Garden Grill for later this year).
Great dining choices Stefanie!! We just tried CP last month-best salmon & mashed potatoes!!! And we ate at LTT last year- when the boys were with us. YUMMY!!!! Also, the characters were there at that time due to CP refurb. We would love to go back to LTT again someday!! Can't wait to hear the rest of your dining plans- dining is a huge part of Disney for us!
