Purchasing Magic Bands

DH and I will be at WDW in March. We will be staying at Shades of Green. While our stay at SOG allows us to book FP+ at 60 days out, we do not get Magic Bands with our stay. Since we do want to use the Magic Bands, would you recommend that we purchase bands ahead of time from the Disney Store or just wait until we get to Disney? If we do purchase ahead of time, will of our FP+ reservations we have made download onto our bands? Thanks.

Whichever you’d rather.

Those bought prior to your arrival will include a code enabling you to link them to your My Disney Experience account. If you wait to buy them on property, the CM cashier can make them ready to use for you.

To clarify, nothing downloads to the bands or is “on them”, by the way. They simply function as does an ATM card or housekey, as a means of accessing what you need.

No worries. It’s actually much simpler than it seems.

Everything Dot said is correct. You don't need to worry about anything being on your MagicBands; everything is in your MyDisneyExperience account, and the MBs are simply keys that unlock the account. And you can have as many keys as you wish, so many people have multiple sets of MBs linked to their accounts, either leftovers from previous trips or specialty MBs bought online or at WDW.

One thing that might influence your decision is that there are a lot more MB designs available at WDW than there are online. If you were to buy them online, I'd recommend buying a plain color (which are the cheapest), then shopping for nicer designs once you get to WDW. Then you have multiples and you'll also get the opportunity to shop the larger selection at WDW.
