I handed out a little candy till our crew was ready to head out. Last night we had a crew of 8 kids and 8 adults. The kids go door to door, we hang out on the sidewalk and gab. It's a total blast.
There aren't a TON of Trick or Treaters in our neighborhood, but there definitely are some. We live in a shady kind of neighborhood in some parts, and when we got here, the low-income appartments didn't expect trick or treaters. We've got them trained now, though! They are all ready for our group, and I can tell they really look forward to the kids coming.
Briar Rose reminded me that I had the plastic tunic and hard plastic Minnie Mouse costume at some point in childhood! My favorite costume was wearing one of my grandmother's square dancer outfits. My mom would let me put on cream rouge on my cheeks and lips and put big fake freckles on my face. I can still remember what that cream rouge smelled like.
We went out last night as usual to avoid the trick or treaters. It's not something we particularly enjoy. Unfortunately some of those who participate have been quite nasty over the years and we're not interested any longer.
