How PassPorter has helped support you...

With the boards closing, I thought it might be a nice idea to share memories specifically from the Family Room, perhaps where you've asked for pixie dust or received support from the community.

If you haven't ever posted yourself in here, perhaps there's a specific story or two that you remember and were happy to be here to be able to offer help or support?

For me, having a whole community around when we lost some of our own PassPorters, most notably Bill (LizardCop) and Lorie and Glenn meant the world to me. We were all able to share in our loss and that was so important to me.

On a more personal note, I've had various minor surgeries over the years, including on my eyes and, more recently, my ankle and I really appreciate all the positive messages following those.

I'm with chezp in regards to Bill (lizardcop) and Lorrie and Glenn's deaths.

Personally. PP'rs were here for me when I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in both knees, when the father (technically he was my ex-stepbrother inlaw) of my niece and nephew died unexpectedly and when my aunt (mom's older sister) whom I'm very much alike in looks, temperment and personality became so ill during a cruise she, her husband and my mom and stepdad were that she was first off the ship and taken by ambulance to the hospital and not only did we think we were going to lose her but the ship's doctor was surprised to find out she was still alive when he called her husband a few days later. I'm not sure if I posted this but PP helped me get through the same aunt's husband being diagnosed with bile duct cancer and then dying after losing his balance and falling getting out of the car a few months later.

They've helped support me over so many different things. Rants over my treatment from Lenny's brothers, all of Lenny's health issues, my mother and her attitude over so many different things, pets getting sick and then needing to be put down, car issues. I think the only thing that really sticks out in my mind - like I said, because I've asked for Pixies so many times - is just the amount of support that I've gotten. It's never just one or two people. It's always a whole bunch of people - sometimes even people that I don't recognize the names of. Where else can you get that kind of support online? Nowhere that I know of.

So many times. Most notably, it's the stories from others that makes me realize we're not that different - everyone seems to have at least one difficult family member that causes stress and bad feelings.
The biggest part is the support and pixies I've received when we've faced horrible things - death, my DD Samantha's health issues, work setbacks, etc.
I've always felt this was kind of a gathering of friends and family - and the good ones, not the ones that caused stress and problems.

That is such a good point!

There have been so many times that I have come here asking for your support and pixies.
Of course, the time I needed it most was during Jack's decline and passing. I came here before I even told my kids. You gave me the strength to deal with that. It was comforting to be able to "talk" here freely with tears flowing and know that the caring and compassionate "friends" would be here to listen.

And my most recent pixie request of my DGDs attempted....I hate even finishing that phrase....so "taking a lot of pills" was so hard on me. I am still shocked about it.

Again you were here to listen and offer your compassion and support.
I don't know any of you in the physical sense but my heart knows you and I will never forget you.
