It had to happen...

...but it seems a little too early! Today it is official.

My 11 year old DGD is taller than me.

She's very proud of that fact...but I hate to break it to her, it's not a big feat as I'm only 5'1".
So proud of the young lady she's becoming!

Wow, that is a bit young to be that tall already. Gosh, she's growing up fast!

Well, her Papa is 6'4", her Dad is 6' and all of my family is on the taller side...except me. LOL. She's all legs and arms!

She made us measure every week once she got close. This week there was a bit of a disagreement, so they got a spirit level out and yes, she was! She danced all over the kitchen!

Definitely a mixed emotion. She's growing so beautiful and is going to be taller...but sad that she's not my little teeny princess any more. Now she's my beautiful princess, but I miss her cuddling in my lap and reading stories together.

My 15-year-old daughter has been taller than me for several years, and she still wants to have bedtime stories read to her sometimes. (She has tried sitting on my lap, but I have declined to allow that.)

When my nieces and nephews were young and growing, they always said they'd be adult size when they passed me, their shortest adult relative. I'm 5'3" so most surpassed me by middle school. Congrats to your DGD!

No grandkids yet to speak of, but DD Lauren is the only one taller than me. She's 3 inches taller, and has been for years. It is quite the thing when they realize an ADULT is shorter than they are!

Awe!! If it makes you feel tall I have 2 wonderful girlfriends who are both about 4'10" - MAYBE - but both think they're 5' . Being that I'm 5'8" it's always a hoot when we're together. My 14 yo DS is about 6'2" now which doesn't sit well with his 5'6" big sister.

She doesn't try to sit in my lap anymore. She's always on the go.

She just finished 6th grade. She's on the younger side (Nov birthday--started 1st grade at 5) and has always been shorter than her classmates...until this year.

Thanks! I understand how they feel...I always felt I was about the same height as many of my friends...until I saw pictures of us together. They just laughed at me.
