Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I can't ride EE anymore because it does that to me every single time now. I let Luke know you liked it. He usually uses his cell phone camera because it actually has a resolution as high as my DSLR, but I love when he takes the camera and creates a cool shot.

Heat has always messed with my head and adding in a thrill ride was probably not a good idea. But who knew it'd bee so hot in early May.

I love that one with the butterfly landing on your arm - very realistic. The PP pic of you and Luke with Buzz is one of my favorites - you look so nice in that skirt/skort.

Thanks! That butterfly was so pretty amongst those flowers and seemed to be asking to be photographed. My skort is from Sam's Club and is so comfortable, and it was so reasonably priced.

It seems to me that the F&GF gets better every year, and the lit topiary at night are a great addition.

So sorry about the motion sickness. Like you said, very odd how it hit you. I hope you find yourself back to normal shortly.
I wish I had had more time to get more of the topiary at night because they were beautiful. I wouldn't fully feel like myself until evening, and by the next morning I was fine.

I've been motion sick at amusement parks more times than I'd like, but usually at WDW, I know what to avoid. This one caught me by surprise.

The pics of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs lit up were so stunning and beautiful...I have actually never seen them lit up like that. Thank you so much for sharing them.

So sorry that the SDMR made you feel so out of sorts. I know that excessive heat no matter how much I hydrate always does me under with even the tamest of rides. This past week the carousel sent me for a short head spin and luckily it didn't occur til nearly the end if our day at Idlewild. Glad that food and some rest eased your symptoms.

I'm sorry you got sick on 7DMT! I hate motion sickness anyway, but then for it to pop up on a ride you've ridden before with no problems just stinks!

The heat and humidity definitely intensified my dizziness and nausea.

I'm hoping to scrapbook the Seven Dwarfs lit up at night when I get a chance to scrapbook tomorrow. I just love how they looked at night.

Heat is not my friend when I'm trying to enjoy attractions.

I kept telling Luke that I hoped this was a one time thing as I don't want to give up riding SDMT as I've given up EE and Space Mountain.

NEXT: Getting to be 5 years old again

Day 7 Parts 1 and 2 Wednesday, May 3, 2017

When I went to bed this past Monday night after struggling with the latest update, my mind finally calmed and I realized my mistake. My cameraís timestamp is set to Central Time, and until that update, I had remembered that when I checked on photos for time confirmations to add an hour. But I guess remembering how icky I felt that day in May bumfuzzled me and I totally forgot. I ran my revived memories by Luke and we both still have some holes, but we have more than I had the other night. So Iíll attempt to straighten out Part 1 of this Magic Kingdom day. From Storybook Treats and my ice cold drink, we headed toward Frontierland. At Pecos Billís, we ate in a leisurely fashion, and enjoyed chatting while sitting inside the air conditioning. Right as we finished we noticed a family in search of a table, and Luke waved at them so theyíd know they could have our table. We originally had a FastPass for Jungle Cruise, but we donít think we rode it today because we had ridden it on our first Magic Kingdom day.

As we reentered Frontierland from the restaurant, Luke noticed the Haunted Mansion. That is when he took the artsy photos in the last update. When we turned around, I spotted Chip and Dale out in their Western-style outfits. Since we hadnít seen them yet, we quickly moved into the queue. When we were just one family away from meeting them, Chip and Dale walked away to take a peanut break. Thankfully, in short order, they were back and once the family in front of was through, it was our turn. I like that the PhotoPass photographer got photos of us being greeted by our favorite chipmunks along with the usual posed shots. Totally adorable little rodents!

Sorry, these are a bit out of order, but that was the way they were on Photobucket. Oops!

Now that moves us into Part 2 of this day. Neither of us remembers why we headed back into Fantasyland, but that does appear to be what we did and where Luke captured the Liberty Belle in the series of photos from the earlier update. Then it seems we headed into Tomorrowland via the back sidewalk, coming in at Space Mountain. What we did in Tomorrowland, for the most part, is totally lost now. But I do know three things for sure. Number One, near the entrance to the PeopleMover at a kiosk called Buzzís Star Command, I noticed a Tinker Bell light up toy. I turned into a five-year old and decided I could not go home without this toy. Truth be told, I usually get one toy every trip, and this just so happened to be this tripís toy. Donít worry a photo will be coming shortly. We may or may not have ridden the PeopleMover again, but we think we might have once Iíd made my purchase.

Number Two. At some point, I believe that I must have cancelled both Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, our original FastPasses, because we neither remember riding either of these and I do remember that we had a FastPass for Tomorrowland Speedway. This seems reasonable as another coaster on a day when I was already motion sick would not have been a good idea. We had also done both of these on our first Magic Kingdom day. Since Luke would be driving our speedway racer at Tomorrowland Speedway, I resumed my normal camera duties. My prized Tinker Bell toy even makes an appearance here as I was getting a little artsy with my shots here.

And here is Tinker Bell!

Number Three. After a slow race to nowhere, I decided that I needed ice cream. After we exited the speedway, we crossed over to Auntie Gravityís for two chocolate ice creams in a cup. In this heat, cups were a necessity as the ice cream was melting so quickly. In fact, we saw one family return with their cones, asking if they could have empty cups for everyone. I eat ice cream exceptionally fast, but I couldnít have beat this heat. We found a shaded table outside and enjoyed our ice cream. We also put the handy restrooms here to use. With our ice cream done, I was pretty much finished (and I feared for the day). Unfortunately, it was getting very hot and humid again. Of course, that meant Luke was willing to return to the resort for some down time at the pool. From Tomorrowland we walked to the Hub where we noticed a PhotoPass photographer near the castle who had a relatively short line. He did a wonderful job, but I had trouble hearing his directions, and maybe it wasnít the best idea to get photos when I felt so queasy. Despite my handicaps, the shots turned out pretty good, though my smile isnít quite normal.

From the Hub, we headed straight down Main Street, out of the gate, and onward to the bus stops.

You had a lot more stamina than I would've, and lasted an admirable amount of time after the motion sickness set in. The pool, and the ice cream, sound like good antedotes.

You had a good time in the MK despite how you were feeling and made the best of it! Nice photos with your rodent buddies!

Glad I could help out with the date stamp on the camera... been there, done that, and there's nothing worse than trying to figure it out.

Love the photos with Chip and Dale!

Sounds like some down time at the pool is just what you need at this point! I don't think I could've lasted as long as you did either, but like you said, ice cream helps.
