My DS is going with a friend and their family to Universal for fall break. They are staying on property. He will need to pay for some of his own food, snacks and other things. It sounds like they don't have anything like magic bands, but they can use their room key for purchases. Does anyone know if he can attach just his key to a credit /debit card he takes of ours? Was thinking that maybe safer than carrying his credit/debit card with him everyday to the parks. Thoughts?
Hmm, I’m not sure. Certainly, a card could be attached to the room, but if he’s sharing a room, which he surely is, right, then I don’t know if it would be possible to attach your card for his use only. Or, if others in the group are adding a different card, I don’t see how Universal services would know which card to tap.
I think your idea seems good, but I somehow doubt it would work under the circumstances of a shared room.
I would suggest sending something like one of those Visa gift cards, but I’ve had very irritating experience with them. Very often, holds are placed on the cards while the most recent purchase is confirmed. Twice, I have had those cards essentially frozen until the following day, after only a single use. So, I don’t advise that kind of card.
If you’re going to send him with one of your bank cards anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to have him see if it will work to attach the number to the room account, but I think more likely he will need to carry the card.
There’s always good old fashioned cash. He could use the room safe to lock up any he didn’t need each day.
