DIS Unplugged reviewers rave about new Be Our Guest prix fixe menu

Hmmmmm, we’ve had our doubts about trying this due to often so-so food and service at BOG over the years since its opening.

I’m hoping these reviewers’ experience wasn’t beginners’ luck since they ate the new menu on its very first night. Their descriptions of the food sound really appealing although I’m a bit put off by piled bread crumbs with parmesan cheese on escargot. To me, garlic butter and parsley, yes, but parmesan would compete with the escargot. Don’t knock it not having tried it, I suppose.

The kids’ dessert is a clever idea that would be fun, IMO, although seeming a bit of a cheat that only adults get the white chocolate Chip lookalike cup. If I were a kid, I’d be super disappointed that my cup wasn’t Chip but a plain one I had to paint.

It is a good review, but it's not somewhere that I'll be returning to at the moment. Unfortunately the entrees I could eat (the non-meat ones) just don't do anything to do for that money. Shame.

Knowing your food preferences, Cheryl, I really understand your reluctance to eat there at 2 dining credits.

No seafood other than a bouillabaise strikes me as a massive costcutter, especially when it contains so few varieties of seafood with potatoes. Potatoes?? Sounds like cheap filler to me.

And French onion soup with gruyere and provolone leaves me saying, “You’re joking!” Decent gruyere is more expensive by far than provolone. Another cost-cutter, I suspect.

I don’t think we’ll be eager to try for an ADR there. Too many other Sigs with much more appealing offerings for us.

I saw a written review....charred octopus? Urp, no thanks!

But the filet and the desserts look good.

I don't get how a $55 meal takes two dining credits, though. Definitely one to pay out of pocket if you're running low on those--I don't do the dining plans, but this just strikes me as a bad value at two credits per person.

I was shocked by the lack of fish offerings, if I'm honest. They could have done so many good dishes, but I am beginning to wonder if Disney aren't catering to the traditional signature restaurant diner and rather are relying on the fact that Be Our Guest is a huge draw because of its setting and is hard to get in and therefore they're banking on the fact that people will pay whatever just to try it out.

Hmmmmm, just saw that Disney Food Blog’s review said the bouillabaisse is horrible. The potato was largely their reason along with poorly cooked and mediocre fish and shellfish.

As their reviewer concluded, this dinner at 2cr is not the “worth it” of a Jiko or Cali Grill meal. That was my suspicion based upon what I’ve read of this new menu.

I'm not surprised by that, given the menu.
