Mousesavers (off property resorts)

I get the Mousesavers newsletter and I know they sometimes send additional e-mails.

They recently sent something and at the top of the e-mail, there was a list of their top 5 off property resorts. I've searched my e-mail (including the delete folder) and can't find it. Does anyone else recall getting this? I think it might have even been today, but maybe not.

We've never stayed off property, but DD19 got accepted into the Disney College Program and when we drive down, I'd like to not spend the $$ on a Disney hotel since this isn't "vacation" and I'd like to save my vacation money for when I go down to visit.

Do you have any loyalty cards for any hotel chains? I'd start with looking at one of them. There are SO many hotels in the area that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

I looked at my Mousesavers emails from this month and none of them had a list of top hotels. Mousesavers website would be where I'd also look. They might have them listed.

And then, I'd also do searches using TravelZoo and TripAdvisor to see what they have listed.

You could also use Hotwire for a 4 star or higher and see what comes up. You know the general area you are staying at but not the exact hotel. I wouldn't search any less than 4 star. We've used them in Chicago and a few times in FL. Not disappointed.

Also check VRBO/Homeaway or Air BNB. You could probably get a condo around Disney for under $100. Just don't go east on 192 and you should be good. Lots of 1 BR condos for under $80.

I won't book through any third party sites like Priceline or Hotwire. I got screwed in August when I used Priceline. I will only book directly with the hotel.

I have 3 Mousavers Newsletters still in my inbox..one from 9/17, one from Monday and one from yesterday and none of them had anything about the top 5 off property resorts.
However, if you go to the actual Mousavers Website (I did a google search for Mousavers off property hotels and clicked on the first thing that came up), they do give a list of Mousesavers Preffered Hotels if you scroll down to where it says off site hotels, and I believe they have special offers for those hotels.
I also will no longer book with third party sites like Hotwire and Priceline. I had a horrible experience 2 years ago with Hotwire. It doesn’t matter how great the price is, if when you show up the hotel doesn’t honor your booking because they don’t have a room available due to overbooking, and would not try to accommodate because it was booked through a third party site. The worse part was that it was a holiday weekend and trying to find something available anywhere was a headache. I know it works out great for a lot of people, but trust me, it only takes one time of having your plans ruined and having to shuffle around at the last minute trying to find anything available to decide their prices are not worth the risk.
