It is a little confusing but it is better than it was even last year. Basically there are no tiers in MK. In the other three parks, there are 2 tiers...A & B. In those parks you can choose one in tier A and 2 in tier B. In AK...only the Pandora rides are tier A. In HS, only Toy Story Land is a tier A. Now Epcot is confusing as there are quite a few Tier A rides to choose from. These include Teat Track, Soarin, Frozen, Character Spot, and preferred viewing for Illuminations.
Remember 3 FPs/day and all in 1 park can be made prior to your trip (60 days prior if on property and 30 if off). After the 1st 3 rides, you can add additional FPs in whatever park you wish one at a time...and can be added as soon as you swipe into the FP line of the 3rd attraction. These can be either tier A or B but are dependent upon availability.
I am hoping this helps a little. On my FP day I was praying for guidance. You can race around the parks but I would highly suggest against that. I plan my FPs around our ADRs and I try to make them strategically as I would move through the parks. I also choose them based upon ride favorites with longer lines. Basically securing a ride on my must do attractions so at least those would be accomplished. Good luck.
