We are thinking about visiting Disneyland and CA in Dec and are considering doing a day at Knott's Berry Farm and also a day at the Aquarium at the Pacific. I noticed they are both listed as add ons to the Disney package and if so do they provide transportation? If not what is our best and cheapest option to get to those places? Thanks!

DL to the Aquarium of the Pacific is 27 miles (42 KM). It takes about 2 hours by bus. It is in my opinion a boutique aquarium. I visited it on a cruise ship to LAX transfer. Since my flight was in the afternoon, it was offered, and luggage kept on the bus. I was NOT impressed with the facility.

We did the add on to Knott's when we visited and it was a nice option. Very little stress involved with the bus and fun to visit Knott's for most of the day (we left and had dinner elsewhere). At that point they had multiple return times, I don't know if that is still the case.
Enjoying being a pirate on the Dream and looking forward to our Alaska cruise 2018 Jenn
We rented a car from downtown Disney one time, I think our cost was $26 for the day and it was well worth it, having the freedom to drive ourselves to Universal Studios, making some stops along the way and then picking up In 'N Out on the way back to the room
Celebrating Christmas at Disneyland and our first visit to Carsland!
If you do want to see the Aquarium of the Pacific, a rental car would be a reasonable option., quicker than a bus that may make other stops. It's a fairly easy drive to Long Beach (at least, fairly easy for Southern California) as long as you're not driving at rush hour. If you head up after 10 am and head back by 3 pm, you should be OK.
I have not been to Knott's, but it is my husband closer to Disneyland, so if you get a car you could do easily get there too.
