Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I've missed it here. I do lurk periodically when I have a few free minutes, but I haven't finished any reports! I start them, then life gets nuts. I feel like I'm on overload!

Signing in! Pixies for weather for you. I totally understand, we leave Saturday. They are saying all the mess is going to stay south of us, thank heavens! But it will only be 26 degrees - so a chill ride to the airport in the early am!

Still keeping my fingers crossed on the weather. It seems that it isn't supposed to hit 32 until around 11. Our school district is banking on that, since they've announced a 1/2 day tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the weather pixies! I sure do need it!!! As Pris said, it's not supposed to hit freezing til 10-11am (depending on which forecast you look at). So even if I'm stuck on my main flight, I SHOULD be fine (ha). That being said... US Airways has a weather advisory for Memphis, TN. That means that I can change my flight with no fee. I tried to do so, to one of the two earlier flights, but, unsurprisingly, they're sold out. BUT, there's room on the 7:15am flight, it's just not "available" for me to switch to (don't get me started on THAT)... so what was suggested is that I stand by for it. I don't know if they will waive the standby fee, but I think it's a good possibility. If not, well, I'll wait for my regular flight. *shrug* But I think I can make a good case, anyway.

So, you may be hearing from me from the airport in Memphis, we'll see. Their wi-fi frankly stinks in my experience, so who knows what I'll end up with.

I've got all 6 of my movies loaded onto my phone, I've got my passport, drivers license and credit card in my wallet, which is in my purse with my snacks et al. My little gifts for Toni and her boss are both in my suitcase, which I plan to carry-on. I've got bathing suits and dinner outfits... toiletries and meds... My antibiotics are packed in my purse... phew I think I'm good!

I am SO READY TO GET THERE!

Yep... still awake... Par for the course. I think I do this every trip... up until the wee hours, finalizing everything. I had to print out the daily letters for Meri and put them in the envelopes with the gift cards or surprises. I ended up skipping the Perkins GC and doing some Pokemon cards instead. So tomorrow she gets Pokemon cards and Hello Kitty stickers, then Saturday is the Chick Fil A GC, Sunday is a little candy treat and Monday is the Subway GC. Tuesday her treat is ME coming home!

I printed out my itinerary / contact info along the way for mom, and printed out a list of important numbers (play date friends, doctor, girl scout leader, etc) and Meri's schedule (she's got a birthday party, a choir rehearsal, environmental club and girl scouts all while I'm gone), plus I had to print out the babysitters contact info, because she's using the sitter twice while I'm away - once for a school meeting and once for a church women's dinner!

I'm annoyed because I can't find my "good" earphones. My other ones work, but they're kind of falling apart. Oh well. Whatever. If that's the least of my worries... right? I've got my passport (I keep checking it, I'm so neurotic), my luggage tags, my boarding documents, my check card and credit card... my phone is updated... I've got three dinner outfits, two casual outfits, two bathing suits, one cover-up, a pair of sandals and a pair of heels. Then I've got sweats, a tshirt and sneakers that I'll wear on the plane. All meds (antibiotics and migraine meds, most importantly), plus toiletries. I think I'm in good shape. I honestly think I under-packed just a little bit, but whatever. I should be able to get away with just carry-on luggage, which will be impressive for me. I'm not known for packing light.

The house is clean, everything is organized, and Meri's letters are all taped to the bathroom mirror for her daily opening ritual! We've checked that Skype works on my cell and mom's computer... I think we're good. Now, I need to go to bed because my alarm goes off in just over 3 hours! If only I could just turn off my brain!!!

Good morning everyone!

My alarm went off at 430am and I took a shower and got ready. I'm just in sweats and a tshirt with a light sweater. I threw my stuff in the car and checked everything one last time. Then I got Meri up and bundled her into the car. It was raining, but only lightly, and nothing was slick or sticking because it was still 35 degrees out. We had an uneventful drive to the airport, arriving around 5:45am. I kissed mom and Meri goodbye, giving Meri a few extra hugs because I could see she was starting to get a little upset, but I made her laugh, and it was fine. Then I headed inside, checking five different times to make sure I had my phone and wallet / passport. Everything else could be dealt with... I needed those two things, lol!

I headed up to the ticket counter to see if I could stand by for the earlier flight, and the guy there was awesome. There were two seats left, and they gave me one, guaranteed, no standby - and no change fee! Wahoo!! Better yet, it's a window seat!!!

With that weight off of my shoulders, I made my way to Starbucks to grab a latte, and then went to the Hudson News store to get some OJ. Now I'm settled in at the gate. They've asked for gate checked items, since it's a full flight, so I'm going to ditch my suitcase, and just have my purse and laptop! YAY! Nice to travel light, and at no additional cost!

I'll check in with you all from Charlotte, because I've now got a 3 hour layover there instead of a 1 hour one. Never been to that airport, so that'll be something new.

"See" you all later!!

Glad you made it onto the earlier flight and there isn't any ice! Charlotte is a beautiful airport! Sit in one of the wooden rocking chairs and enjoy your time!

How fantastic that you got a guaranteed seat on the first flight with no hassle! It's a very good omen. I'm going away for the weekend shortly, so won't know how the rest of the trip goes until, probably, Sunday, unless I sneak onto my friend's home-office computer for a minute or two! Have a fabulous time!

Have a fabulous time!
Enjoy your weekend away! The TR will be here when you get back!!! I doubt you'll miss much!

I'm hanging out in the Charlotte airport for the next 2.5 hours... it's lovely here! I need to find an outlet shortly, and then I plan on camping by said outlet until about 15 minutes prior to boarding. Then I'll grab a snack, make a bathroom stop, and it's off to Miami with me! I can't wait!

The flight from Memphis to Charlotte was fast (just over an hour, start to finish) and bumpy. I snoozed for much of it, but we were rockin and rollin, and the captain had to stop beverage service partway through because it just wasn't safe for the cart to be out and the attendants to be up.

Hopefully the next flight will be smoother.

I'm so glad you made it to Charlotte Ok - thank goodness you were able to get that earlier flight.

I hope the next flight is smoother for you.
