Bag check line?

What is the smallest “bag” you can get away with to enter the parks in the “guests with no bags” line? I was thinking of either a clear armband for my phone, or just a waterproof clear phone holder, which can be hung around your neck. I suppose I could just put either one of those in my pocket, but I don’t normally wear pants with pockets...
What do you think? Anyone have experience with this?

A bag, regardless of size will need to be checked and must be taken off the body.

Just past bag check are the scanners and all items must be taken out of pockets.

Our son usually just has his phone. He skips the bag check line and then takes it out of his pocket for the scanner. All guests go through the scanners.

My daughter-in-law used a clear phone holder that she wore around her neck when she was there last year. She did not need to go through the bag check at any park. Things may have changed since then so YMMV.

This wasn't the case today at DHS or MK. Only occasionally have I seen security require everyone to go through the scanner, so sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Most of the time, everyone who uses the "no-bag" line has to go through the scanner, but DS18 wasn't asked to do so today. I guess they like to change things up.

I don't think you'd have a problem. It may be better to keep the phone in your hand and out of the holder so they can see it's empty when you walk through. As for having everyone go through security, it depends on how busy they are. According to one of the guards, they try and get as many people through the metal detectors as possible. I have found security has been a little tighter this year.

Just wanted to update you on my experience last week. I used a clear phone holder that was on a lanyard. I had a small paper credit card-sized holder/envelope (from a hotel room key) that I used to hold my Disney Visa, ID, and a little cash that I also had in the clear pouch. I went through the no bag line every day at every park. At Epcot, every person over about age 12 who went through the no bag line had to empty their pockets of any electronic devices and metal objects and walk through a metal detector. At the other 3 parks, they just chose random people to go through the metal detectors.

Thank you so much for the information! That’s extremely helpful and excellent news for me!
