Need opinions on DCL New Year's cruise

I am thinking about doing a New Year's cruise Dec 2020 to celebrate my next big b-day. Has anyone taken a New Year's cruise? Was it mobbed? How was the pricing? What extra things did they do to celebrate New Year's? What itinerary did you do? Thanks.

Well, I know how bad the pricing is, as we looked at Christmas or New Year for my last big birthday back in 2012 and the prices were eye watering, which is why we went for one just a bit earlier to cover my birthday.

The bonus is although no doubt it will be full and the ship would therefore be busy, it will be no worse than any other cruise that sails full - and a lot do. We've sailed on plenty of full cruises and, apart from the major events, like the sailing away and Pirates party that just about everyone wants to attend, it's not that bad. I don't know what they do for New Year though and if it's a big party, I can imagine that being mobbed....

We've sailed New Year's Eve twice--both 7 night itineraries--one on the Magic and the other on the Fantasy.

Thanks for the information. I am still uncertain if we will do this, but, I know that I would not be able to handle the crowds in WDW at this time of year. So, this may be the only way to celebrate my next big b-day Disney style.

I must admit that's the conclusion I've come to as well. My birthday's on 21 December and, while we can just about get away with a visit to WDW around then, the crowds usually build pretty soon after that. The last time we were there for Christmas was many years ago now (I think 2009?) and the crowds were insane even back then. I dread to think what they're like now.

Mine is December 30th and I would never be able to handle the crowds. If we were there during this time I would definitely spend it as a resort hopping day. However, that really wouldn't be what I would want to do. So, I think a cruise where I could enjoy the Disney environment would be better.

Oh my goodness, yes that would be a horrendous time to be in Disney World!
