As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Today was our last full day in Las Vegas and I was completely on my own!! I had a very full day scheduled, though, and it went very fast!!
The Pink Jeep Tours picked me up right on time at 7:45 AM for my Red Rock Canyon adventure and we did not return until noon. My guide, Gary, was excellent and it was a fascinating tour!! Gary is a retired geologist and knew so much about the rock formations, the wildlife and the landscape.
Here are some photos, which do not do this tour justice!! I highly recommend it!!
Red Rock is about a 20 minute drive from the Wynn. These are some shots I took along the way:
There was a welcome center area and we also went to a few lookout spots. Lots of scrub thrives in the dessert and also jackrabbits, turtles and lizards. We didn't get to see much in the way of animals but Gary was excellent at pointing out the different plants and how they adapted to the dessert. He also showed us how the rocks formed millions of years ago and how they eroded. It was a gorgeous day and I think I got some fairly nice pictures. We also did a little bit of hiking, which was fun and we got to see some mountain climbers practicing for bigger and better venues. Apparently this is a great place to do so.
This was, once again, sadly the only picture I took of the Las Vegas sign.
And I almost forgot about the desert moths who are just as pesky here as they are everywhere else:
This is Gary:
And this was our group:
It was an awesome tour and I would do it again if given the opportunity!!
Gary was kind enough to drop me off at the Bellagio where I had lunch at Lago booked. I also got to enjoy this resort and the gorgeous surroundings here! We stayed here three times and loved every minute of it!! If I had to choose between here and the Wynn, it would be really, really tough!
When I first found Lago, I was a little disappointed in the appearance and location of the restaurant. I guess I was just so used to eating in pretty venues!. While still not my favorite spot, the food was delicious here and the view of the Strip was beautiful!

The Strip side of Lago:
I wound up ordering a Pellegrino water, a nice glass of Italian white wine, a goat cheese, prosciutto and fig pizza and somehow, the waitress talked me into garlic fries.
Well, I only ate about two fries but everything really was good. I finished my lunch up around 2:30 PM and my massage at the Wynn was scheduled for 4 PM. I had enough time to walk back but it was really hot at this point so I just got a cab at the Bellagio and I was back in plenty of time to run upstairs and get changed.
My massage was wonderful and it lasted for 80 minutes!! At one point I fell asleep and I'm pretty sure I was snoring!
Muffin texted me around 6 to say that he wouldn't be back for an hour or so, so I went to the bar, nursed a drink and people watched.
We hung out on the casino for a couple of hours and it was tonight that I won the 3 grand!! It was a terrific way to wrap things up!! At this point, it was around 10 and I needed to find something to eat. Muffin never eats before we fly so I asked him if he minded if I went to Wazuzu where I grabbed some pineapple shrimp fried rice and drunken noodles. Both were delicious!!
That about wraps it up. Tomorrow, we got up ate breakfast at theTerrace Point Cafe again and checked out.
Our flight home was uneventful and I wish I could fly first class all of the time!!
Thanks for following my abbreviated version of my trip.

Wow, that was a superb ending to your trip with your win! We loved Red Rock Canyon as well, it's just stunning. And Lago looked great with its views of the fountains. I may have to try and work a trip to Vegas into one of our forthcoming trips....
Red Rock Canyon is truly beautiful, it's amazing how these weird formations are everywhere in that part of the country. We camped for the night at Red Rock Canyon before heading home the following week.
Did you feel like your trip was too short? I certainly did!
You mentioned that only one dining option disappointed, but I wasn't sure which one. Was it Lago, or did I miss something earlier?
Some nice meals over the last day and that's quite a spread at the breakfast buffet! Your tour looks like a winner and I'm sure was a lot of fun with a great guide! Nice way to end your trip with a big win at the Wynn!

I always feel like our tripo is too short, but in a way, I am grateful because we may have spent the money we won! Also, it keeps us going back to try new stuff!!
Lago was the only place I was just a bit disappointed but it wasn't because of the food!! That was fabulous!! The strip side of the restaurant also affords stunning views!! I just don't like how you enter it through the casino. I think they could have done a much better job presenting the restaurant. In fact, I am willing to say that it is not crowded because the look of it may turn people off. It would be their loss though!!

It was!!
There were four bar cars on the High Roller and each one is equipped with a bartender.

The whole trip was terrific and winning that money was certainly the icing on the cake!!
I love 80 minute massages. Usually I do 50 minutes, but splurge every now and again on 80. I have woken myself up with a snore during a massage. Embarrassing.
Your pizza looks yummy!
Congrats on the big win!
Sounds like a great trip. Where to next? Or are you now in wedding mode until that's done?
