MOA6: We're not perfect, and neither are our scrapbooks. A group-effort TR! - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ha ha ha! You DID have carpet installed. I had no idea!!! You are worse than me.
(or you learn from the best )
Maggie
When we were going down the stairs, I said I had it done 5 days prior, not one day like you. You must not have heard me!
I was worried the smells from new vinyl and carpet glue would kill you! I didn't tell you ahead of time because I figured you'd feel bad that I was going to all that work. Little did you know it was my master plan to get DH going on the basement! (Insert evil smiley with evil laugh....) It was a nuthouse around here with trying to get clothes marked for church and having the carpet and vinyl layed so close to the party! But, I'm so glad it's done!

O.K., didn't get back to inserting pictures last time, so here's some more of us scrapping at Archiver's...
(Sue, Judy, Sandy and Bob)
Maggie, Carolyn, Vicky)
(Denise and her Mom -yes, I said Mom not sister, Sally. Lesly's spot is across the table but I had a hard time finding her there to take a picture of. Maybe that's why she got the award for "least pages done" ! Vicky and I really liked that she came this year. HA!)
Now, look how busy everyone (except Vicky) is. That's why we got so many pages completed!
Next photos to be posted later: The winners of most pages scrapped and least pages scrapped! I'm off to get my monthly challenge page scrapped being the month is almost done.
I posted this entire report at work yesterday and the *&%$#@ work computer wouldn't let me post it! Grrrrrr......
Anyway...
I was up bright and early Friday morning. My flight left Philly at 8 AM, so I was up at 4 and out of the house by 4:30-ish. I took coffee and a granola bar with me and headed out! There was very little traffic on the turnpike or 95, so I was at the airport by about 6:30. I parked in short term parking near Terminal C (Philly is actually a very well laid out airport) which is where US Air is housed. I chose short-term because even though it is more money, it's not as desolate as long term, and I was returning late and by myself, so I wanted the benefit of a well lit parking garage on my return.
I unloaded my car, headed to the terminal, to the ticketing counter to find out....I needed to be at US Air EXPRESS at Terminal F! No where on my ressie did it say "Express" and I had checked thouroughly! I walked to Terminal F (As I said, it's so well laid out that it is easy to do!) and checked in. The only thing that concerned me was landing Sunday night at Terminal F and having to go back to Terminal C for my car. Oh well, at least I would be able to walk along a well lit sidewalk with lots of people.
I got through security easily and settled down with another cup of coffee and a really bad croissant. Soon my flight was called and I was boarded! On my way to an adventure!
The flight was rough. The pilot had warned us, but it was rougher than I had expected. Breakfast consisted of juice and pretzels. At least AirTran gives you a fruit and oatmeal bar! Soon we were over Minnesota and preparing for landing. Now, I never take the word "preparing" too lightly, and this time was no exception. The pilot touched down...we were on 2 wheels...then 1...then 2...then 1...then 2...then 3. Whew! He must have been standing on the brakes because everything went forward when we stopped. I said to my seat mate "Um, that was a little rough, wasn't it?" He looked a little green and agreed. But soon we were off and I WAS SO HERE!
Off to get my luggage, and then to rent my car. The car rental guy tried to talk me into a Dodge Charger ("more power! more speed! only $35!") No thanks, I'm driving about 20 miles total, I will be fine. I headed out to my car:
I had talked to Lesley from the airport. She had managed to secure an even better price on our ressie at the Courtyard. When I got there, the girl at the front desk cancelled my more expensive ressie and checked us in on Lesley's less expensive ressie! Yay! More scrapbooking money!!!
The room was ready:

Lobby and Courtyard:
I settled in and headed over to the mall. I looked around for a bit and then called Vicky. She lives like 2.3 seconds away and said she would be there in a flash! I looked around the RFC gift shop and soon she was there! And soon...Bob and Sandy were there too!
We were seated in the back. Sandy thinks she asked for a table int he back, but I think that WDW called them and told them all about PP meets. ("Sit them FAR AWAY from anyone else! Trust me on this one!") We had a wonderful lunch, and the gentleman next to us took our picture:
After lunch, Bob and Sandy headed out, and Vicky and I hit the Disney store. I bought a few gifts, and then decided to head back to the hotel for a nap. The early morning was catching up to me. I laid down for over an hour and woke up refreshed! At about 4, Lesley and Maggie arrived!
Lesley DID NOT forget the Merlot:
We headed over to Michelle's. I think some of these pictures may have been posted already, but here goes:
Denise, Sally, and Carolyn were there as well as Bob and Sandy. Vicky had class that night and Judy couldn't make it either. Michelle's DH and DS's were banished to the firehouse, as well as the dog!
We had a great time, and got a chance to see everyone's scrapbooks. I didn't bring any, since they would have added quite a bit of weight, but I was starting to feel a bit insecure as I viewed everyone's beautiful work. This is just a symptom of SIC as I would soon find out. Let me tell you, Michelle's house is just beautiful, and I love the purple wall and all the highlights!
Lesley and I started to get tired around 10:30 or so. She had been on the road a long long time, and I was still pretty tired from the early morning, despite the nap. We headed out and drove back to the hotel, where we were soon fast asleep. We had lots of scrapbooking and shopping to do tomorrow!
OK - so I completed the fewest number of pages. Somehow I thought going to MOA would include shopping so I spent most of the day checking it out. It is absolutely HUGE!!!! I also used as my ecuse that this was my first time ever scrapping. It was true, but not sure being a rookie counted for anything. I was totally overwhelmed with all of the choices. I thought 4 pages was pretty good.
Glad everyone had a great time! I am sooo bummed I couldn't make it to Michelle's or MOA But I thought of you as I was driving past MOA on HWY 77 (? the one right in front of MOA to Apple Valley --- ouch... Mindcramp happening right now ) and gave a big HELLO wave to you all! Love hearing & seeing the reports--- hopefully next year and maybe I can convince twins4me Trish to come over too!
Well, apparently, I haven't been "with it" lately b/c I had NO idea you were all cropping at MOA. It's about 5 hours from me! I would loved to have met you all there! Anyway....I'd love to put it on my calendar for next year. My mom and dad have a cabin about half way in between our house and MOA, so I'll have to work something out with dh and my mom. As it was, he was hunting there (at their place) the weekend you were all scrapping. The second weekend of Oct actually sounds great...my bd is the 15th and it would make a lovely bd present!
Glad you all had a great time! And, congratulations on the page count!
Lesley and I awoke on Saturday after a good night's sleep! We got ready and headed over to the mall. After a tour of the parking lot we parked in "Georgia" and headed into the mall. We grabbed breakfast at Cinnabon (coffee and cinna-stix for me, tea and cinnamon bun for Lesley) and then headed up to Archiver's. Lesley was shopping, I was scrapping. When we got there, Sandy, Bob, Judy and Carolyn were already set up. I started to pull out my stuff and began. I had brought a few pages from my current project to continue. I started to get a slightly evil eye from Sandy...hmmm...SIC indeed! (J/K you know!) She loved my pages even though I thought they looked sort of disheveled compared to some others. Soon Michelle and Maggie arrived, and soon Denise and Sally were there. Vicky got out of class early and joined us, too. We scrapped till about 1:15, when we headed down to our lunch reservation at Tucci Bennuch (sp?). I called Lesley and she met us down there.
We were seated together in a room with other people (They musn't have gotten the WDW/RFC memo ) and soon we ordered. I had the baked spaghetti:
Denise and Sally decided that life is too short, so eat dessert first:
The dessert tray:
Sandy headed to the ladies' room and asked Bob to watch her purse. I don't remember his answer, but she ended up asking me to watch it for her.
Bob:
So she left it on the table, and it looked like it should be with him!
Bob's purse:
After lunch, it was back for more scrapping. We luckily did not have to pack up everything between the daytime scrapping and the nighttime Scrapmania, as we were all pretty spread out.

So, about halfway through the crop, Kathy, the organizer of tonight's Scrapmania, approached me with a brochure in hand. She said that on behalf of my fellow scrappers, they wanted me to feel that although I suffered from SIC (Scrapper's Inferiority Complex), there was help and treatment available for the asking. I just needed to read this wonderful brochure (produced by the MOA6 Dingbats for the SIC Survivors). Sandy ahd stayed awake till almost 2 AM the night before to create this with me in mind!
The inside of the brochure:
(This is a little bigger than I would normally post but I wanted to be able to have it read!)
The outside:
I feel much better, now that I have found a support group to help me through the tough times!
Well, we were at MOA, after all...you should go shopping!
I think you did GREAT for your first time ever scrapping. I should have shown you my first album when we were looking at albums Friday night. Believe me, it looks nothing like your pages! When I scrap at an evening only scrap, I only get 5 or 6 pages done a lot of times, so for being a first time scrapper, 4 pages is super!
