As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi, I'm Bonnie, 52, wife to a great DH, mother of 2 daughters, granny to 2 terrific GS, teacher, avid reader, who has discovered in the past 2 or 3 years that I love to travel and plan for trips and after several Disney trips really caught the Disney bug; but this trip is not about Disney. This journey begins 2 years ago, my oldest DD (30) husband's got a job in WA state and they took my 2 GS and moved away.
DD (30) had grown up in AK, and it was as difficult for her to leave as it was for me to have her go; there were many tears. DD(15) and I got to visit them the first summer they were in WA, and I made a weekend trip down that October. DD (30) and 2 GS came up for Christmas and got to stay 2 weeks, YAY!. (Just so you know for future reference, my now ex-SIL decided in August (they moved down in May) he wasn't happy and wanted a divorce which made life very difficult for DD (30) for about the first year or so.
We were down again this past summer for a month and they came up again for Christmas but all of us miss each other like crazy. Having DD(30) and GS so far away is the motivator for the second reason why I spoke to my DH about moving. I completed a masters in education in 2004 and have always had a goal to get my PHD however the university up here does not offer a PHD in History which is my field.
In January 2012 I asked my DH about moving, he thought about it for a bit and gave me his answer, "since I've always supported him, he would now support me" . We talked about different places and did some research but Washington has 5 huge draws for us, our DD and 2 GS's, as previously mentioned and several universities, of which one has the degree program that I want (if I can get in). Lastly, it's closest to Alaska where I have quite a bit of family.
Once we decided yes and where we began to look at when. I didn't want to have DD (14) interrupt high school and since she was- at that point -finishing 7th grade, had several good friends at school, in orchestra and drama, I thought the best plan was to let her complete middle school then move since she would have to start a new high school anyway which is how we got the when and why we're moving this summer. DD (14) is still not happy with moving, at least she no longer cries everytime it comes up, she is looking forward to seeing her sister more and to the rain, she loves rain, but considers Alaska her home and is resigned about moving.
We switched plans probably 20 times on how to get us and all of our belonging to WA. At some point, we were all going to fly, or some fly and some drive, we looked at the ferry system, all drive, the plan we've finally arrived at is DD(14) and I are driving the Uhaul through Canada and DH is flying. How we ended up with this plan will be covered in the next post.
I hope all you mom's out there had a wonderful day.

Great start to an exciting move for your family. I know you'll all miss family and friends, but you'll be moving closer to close family, too. It's great that your DH is supporting your desire for another degree.
Ahhhh, driving through Canada with a Uhaul. Very similar memories here. Only for us we were towing an old army trailer, and this was before the AlCan was paved. Really looking forward to this to see what other memories it stirs up! Glad your husband supported you so much with the move!

He's a keeper for sure.

That sounds like our families trip up to Alaska when we moved up here in '69. DH is wonderful.
Guess what came in the mail today? Jury Duty notice for my DH!
We thought it was funny. He'll have to call tomorrow and let them know we will certainly be more than 30 miles from the courthouse.
Anyway, back to the topic. I have been so swamped with school ending, cleaning, packing, get records etc, that I just haven't made the time to sit and do this; however since we have to turn in our internet modem Friday evening I realized I only have 2 days to get this PTR done and everyone caught up, yikes! So here I am at 11:28pm getting this installment done. We had a farewell party for DD at her youth group tonight so late in getting home.
So, how did I end up driving all by myself? DD's is very into acting and we signed her up for an acting summer camp which originally started June 24th but DH had turned in his notice at work for June 29th, so we were going to have DD fly to WA and stay with her sister while DH finished work and then we could wrap everything up, and DH and I would have left around July 10th and drove the Uhaul out, although DH really wanted to ship everything and fly out. Me however, because my family moved up here by driving, it seemed fitting to leave the same way I arrived. DH said we could drive if I really wanted to. After checking pricing with several moving companies and crunching numbers I figured I could still move everything cheaper if we did it ourselves with the Uhaul so this was our final plan until..... DD (30) who is in WA called one day. She has gone back to school to get her teaching degree and because couldn't get one class spring semester so would have to take it summer semester or wait an entire year before starting teaching program. How does this involve me? Well, she wouldn't have anyone to stay with GS's while she's in class during summer semester. The class is Monday-Thursday for 8 weeks and cannot afford daycare so I told her I would come down early. That worked out to be 25 days earlier then the orginal plan which meant kick cleaning and packing into high gear. Since I would have to be there by June 24th when her class starts we knew DD (14) could travel with me and not fly out.
Now DD (14) and I had specific dates, and knew that DH would fly out one his own although he is making a side trip to see his mom and godmother before flying to WA.
Wow, now your leaving date is nearly here! It's great that it worked out that you can get there to help your DD out with the babysitting and your younger DD will be there for the acting camp, too. Good luck with finishing up packing and wrapping up the Alaska part of your lives!
Wow! You've had a lot going on. How awesome that your husband is supporting the move to be closer to your daughter, and you'll get to spend time with your GS while your daughter is in class.
I can't wait to read more
