Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Oh come on - you can't stop there! I want to know what happened next...

Sorry about the problems with your GPS. I can just imagine what names you were calling it!

They do look quite big. They should be 640 x 480 pixels, but I don't know how much help I'll be with this. I don't use Photobucket to resize my images any longer, as they did away with that feature a while ago. I believe it's been reinstated, but I now use a separate programme to resize them before I load them into Photobucket...

Great pics of your day. We're hoping to get to Zion one day!

Photobucket should have an option to resize the picture directly (I think you're going to have to go into each picture to do it). Cam22 put directions in this thread.... http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...otobucket.html

More pictures to come, as we hadn't start hiking yet I VERY MUCH recommend visitng. It is breath-takingly beautiful!

Thank you for the info, I did read that thread and followed it, but for whatever reason the sizing didn't take to these handful of pictures All of my others seemed fine. I'll double check the next set before uploading them on here to make sure I don't have this issue again

Alright my faithful readers.... I finished my final for this semester of school last night (WHEW!). So this weekend I am going to re-do and re-size the pictures in photobucket, and hopefully have our adventures in Zion post up. There will be a lot of pictures!! So I figured I better go in and double check the sizing on all of them before I get started

Angel's Landing...or Bust.

We started on down the trail, but not before snapping a few pictures of the stream

We crossed the bridge, and opted to go to the left, versus right...(I'll get back to this part in a bit)

We hiked what seem to be a pretty normal path, there were a few bumpy and rockey parts, but nothing that was scaring me. Hmmm.... this wasn't so bad. Shocking, mostly to myself, I was having a good time. (I should note that I joke with my friends and family that I am allergic to nature, so being here was very much outside of my comfort zone).

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip

just a tad bit wind blown...

As you can see, we are inclining a bit now, but I am still feeling pretty good.

It was right around this point we saw other small groups coming towards us from the "top," and lots of children Umm... this can't be right. Dan asked one of the passers by and they said "No, Angel's Landing is the other way." Sigh. Again, outdoors is just not my thing, and knowing we have to go all the way back, and then head another way is almost like torture. (Mello-Dramatic? perhaps, but I am a city girl).

We get ourselves back to the bridge, and I tell Dan that I'm giving us two hours. We are WAY behind schedule thanks to my phone and it's misdirection He agrees, and we start making our way up Angel's Landing. Let me tell you, that announcement was true to it's word, and we weren't even to the steep part. It was ALL uphill. Rough would be an understatement. Though paved at this part, and I think most of it, it was pretty much doing the equivilent to a 8 incline on a treadmill. I got about 45 minutes in and notice the path went from winding to very steep and zigzig... While I'd like to have said that I conquered my fears, this was just not the place, plus my asthema (which I haven't noticed in years) was beginning to act up. I told Dan to keep going, I'd be happy to wait, but I was not going any further. There was a nice semi shaded spot and some rocks to sit on. Knowing you had to take the same path down as you went up I was fine waiting for him.

Up Next: Pictures while I wait and I didn't know I had an accent.

Oh boy, I thought that things were going too well when you said children were coming towards you. That did seem like a nice, gentle hike... what a shame the other way wasn't.

It was a nice little hike for me, so though it wasn't the right one, it was something managable for me Also - Hoping this pictures are the right size

More great pictures! I had researched Zion since we had originally planned on going there, and remember Angel's Landing! Beautiful shots!

More shots to come from the "non-chicken" of the group It really is a beautiful place I wish we hadn't been misdirected by navagation and had a bit more time to spend. Alas, a reason for another trip though

Pictures While I Wait

After a bit of bantering back and forth about him continuing (he said he wanted to be with me awww), I said I'd be fine. I knew he really wanted to see it. There really was a lovely area where I stoped with a bit of shade and some large rocks I could sit on. So off he went. I knew there was no cell service, so I decided to take some pictures to pass the time.

This is where he was hiking up. The path zig zags up

While I was waiting, numerous people passed by on their trek upwards, however one small group stopped where I was. It was a couple and their friend, who was clearly having a rough time hiking. The sat down by me and struck up conversation. Oddly enough the one lady said "Wow, I'm from WI too...you don't have a WI accent" I didn't know we had one Perhaps it's the lack of accent, accent? We talked a little more, and they were on their way. it wasn't more than 15 minutes later they passed by me coming down, saying today was just not the day for their friend (the one who was having a rough time). I waved and just enjoyed the calmness that Zion offered.

About a half hour later Dan made his way down. He said he didn't go all the way up as it would have been abouther 30 minutes, plus the time to get back down. We were both famished too. Plus, we both said we wanted to come back. He wanted to see "The Narrows" which is not my thing at all (walking in water), so we thought a group trip might be fun.

Up Next: Pictures from Dan's Camera...
